Thread: Andy Murray - OBE

    Re: Andy Murray - OBE

^^ It surprises me that even in Andy's FB entry above, there's no mention of his Silver medal.
I think to win 2 Olympic medals on the same day should be acknowledged as part of Andy's immense achievement in 2012.

So pleased for Andy - and I did wonder at others getting CBE's but figured as Sally has said already that those folks already had awards and were being upgraded.

I'm with Scrapaddict - the knightwood will come when he wins Wimbledon!!!

Must say I was a bit peeved when I first saw that it was OBE, but, yes, it is his first and I can only think that it is firmly expected that a knighthood is on the cards in the coming years.

    Congratulations, Andy delighted for you

I too thought he merited a CBE but never mind, OBE is great and at least recognition!

    Wonderful

I am sure that a higher honour will be bestowed on him in the future, either on winning Wimbledon or when he retires.

Well done Andy Great news to wake up to! Must say, I agree with others saying he should have got a higher award but when he becomes world no.1, Wimbledon champion and a multi Grand Slam Champion, it would be an outrage if he doesn't get a knighthood!

Well, that caps off a pretty good year. I still think 2013 will be better...

Whilst I expected Andy to have some type of honour it is fabulous to see it confirmed, well done Andy! of whilst we may feel Andy deserves an CBE like some of the other olympians longevity and stage of career are part of the criteria, whilst of the CBE recipients only Mo Farrah had not been honoured before. cohttp://www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/si...n-2012.pdfurse

I'm sure Andy will be upgraded in the future and of course winning another major would give me so much more joy!
