Great to see Joe Root get a century - and many more -at Lords. All things being equal, he should be opening for many years to come.

Great watching the first two matches. The next Test is at Old Trafford and already the weather seems to be changing. Do remember being at Test matches there when it was hot and sunny but not recently. Weather is so important over five days so do hope the sun comes back next week.

    Re: The Ashes

Well, for the first four days the weather at Old Trafford was fine and Australia played extremely well but the Rain Gods who are obviously England supporters put an end to their hopes and washed out the final day. The match was drawn and England retained the Ashes. I don't usually pray for rain but did on Monday!! And no, I don't feel sorry for the Aussies. I had no pity at all....this was Australia we were playing and the Ashes were at stake. Well done England!!! Now go to Durham and win!!

    Re: The Ashes

Congratulations to England on retaining the Ashes with the help of as supergran says the Rain Gods who were carefully watching over Old Trafford and came to the rescue of England in her hour of need. Now please go on and defeat the Aussies comprehensively in the remaining two matches.
