Andy was doing a training block in Miami, a bit different from being a tax exile! Apologies to Bale if that doesn't apply to him either.

Andy has been shortlisted for SPOTY an unrivalled 9 times in 11 years and 2015 was the first time he's attended since 2006. Andy has his priorities just right.

Tbh if Andy also wins olympics I think he definitely deserves to win. But if he will I don't know. Partly because he has already won those titles before. But he would definitely deserve to win SPOTY. 2 years in a row in a Olympics year would be hard

I think it's one thing to live abroad as the training facilities are more suitable for your sport and another thing to go due to tax. not naming any names ... just saying.

Certainly challenging to win Sports Personality consecutively and particularly in Olympic year ,however Andy would definitely deserve it if he won another major title-if he was to lose out to someone worthy suppose would soften the blow and not really my biggest priority for him.

Certainly agree-can be valid reason for living abroad and wouldn't slate everyone! Think most can work it out!

Andrew Johnston - puts the P into SPOTY. Not sure if his physique qualifies him as a sportsman tho...

Gareth Bale actually works in Spain so it would be unfair to class him as living overseas by choice. It's a pretty long commute !

I didn't realise Gareth Bale had been kidnapped by Real Madrid, at least he can afford the ransom.

True, but his home is here, and his main residence. He also pays his tax here.
