I have no idea where all the talk of Andy shutting his season down has come from! It certainly hasn't come from him and seems most unlikely to me. It's just not Andy's way. If it would help him, I'm happy to be proven wrong but I just can't see it.

To be fair to Bardot, she sorry or he, did say 'there's no suggestion this will happen' But it gives an idea of where he might end up if he didn't play another match this year. Quite interesting as I honestly thought it could be a lot worse with so many points from end of last year to defend. So if he plays a bit and gets something at least, he might stay at a reasonable ranking. Then time time to rebuild next year.

Actually feel a bit reassured by that so thanks Bardot

I probably should have added a health warning to that prediction of where Andy would be ranked based on a year end total of 2290 as in previous years there's always been 1 or 2 players who have been hogging the points meaning there are fewer points lower down to go round. It could still happen this year with Nadal & Federer but if not then points may be shared further down the rankings so points totals would be closer together like in the current rankings.

Rafa needs to reach the semifinals in Montreal to overtake Andy and become world no 1.

So Roger or Rafa could be the new #1 after Cincy, odds on Roger must have bombed after Rafa's defeat. If he wins Montreal, Roger will only be 10 points behind Rafa going into Cinccy and Andy will be #3 the following week. Still 41 weeks at #1, Wonderful Andy!!!

Many twists and turns in this strange 2017 season. Who knows that Andy might well surprise us all yet.
