Thread: Arise Sir Andy!

    Re: Arise Sir Andy!

Explains completely why he was a bit distracted today. Must prey on your mind a bit, knowing the news is going to break and wondering what the reaction will be. All I can say is there will be a temporary cessation of doggy diet tomorrow, and ice cream will be involved:-)

I can't believe that had any effect on Andy today at all.

If there was ever a day to lose a match. Also awarded for Andy's services to charity which is important.

Despite me being in the "let's wait for him to retire" camp, I'm extraordinarily chuffed for Sir Andy. He more than deserves every accolade. So does this make Kim, Lady Murray?

Yes it does, which is classed as a "courtesy title"

    Re: Arise Sir Andy!

It goes without saying that this is richly deserved....but not so sure it is really what Andy wanted *at this point in time*. And sorry, but it's what Andy feels that matters, not us. I have no doubt whatsoever that Andy will accept the honour graciously, but I also feel he would have much preferred to receive it later on, and that takes the shine off - just feel a bit frustrated for him.

Edit: Just seen this article. It's in the DM, but it's how exactly how I feel, including the following:

'I am not, for one minute, suggesting that Andy Murray does not deserve a knighthood. But just not yet. To become Sir Andy Murray, with many years of tournaments ahead of him, is just barmy. Don't take it from me. We know that Andy Murray concurs. What on earth is Andy Murray expected to receive if he wins his third Wimbledon – or his fourth? A peerage? An earldom? Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports? The Governorship of Gibraltar?'

So so proud of Andy! Had a feeling this year would be his year! I know he thinks he may be too young but after everything he has done this was the only accolade left done. His achievement had to be taken note of and in the best way possible!

Age is just a number after all

I just hope it doesn't pile on extra pressure on Andy
