    Sports Personalty 2017 - December 17th 6.45 pm

I think JerryD will delighted, as it's being held at Liverpool's Echo Arena. Andy might get nominated, but I think Jo Konta might get on the shortlist.

Doubt Andy will get nominated - not as things stand - unless he does something extraordinary in 2nd half of year - not looking too likely with the hip injury.

I would have an issue with Jo getting nominated if Andy didn't. He's still spent the first half of the year at WR1, and reached the same stage at Wimby as she has. Andy is still doing amazingly well. It would be to me like we were taking him for granted now.

I don't think Jo will be nominated, and nor should she be in my opinion. Need to set the bar higher than reaching her second slam semi. I feel she has a slam win in her, she can be nominated then.

He was rewarded last year for reaching No1 - don't think that can carry over when so far at least he has really won nothing major this year.

Jo was first woman to get to Wimbledon semi in 39 years (Andy only got to quarters), so it is quite an achievement, but I agree with RB that it is not yet enough for a nomination. But there may not be much else of note in the year and they certainly want to have a number of women on so you never know.

Jo will be nominated for the same reason as the new Doctor is a woman, blimmin' BBC political correctness.

Think about it though, we are half way through the year, and does anybody stand out yet?

Jo may be nominated but she doesn't stand a chance of getting it unless she wins the US Open.

He has got it 3 times. Regardless of what he does or doesn't achieve for the rest of this year, I would hope he has let it be known that he doesn't want his name put forward again. It's somebody else's turn. The 3 he got were richly deserved, but you can have too much of a good thing.

Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski got nominations for getting to the Wimbledon semis.

World Athletic champs bound to throw up a few nominees. Maybe the Open - or Lewis Hamilton.
