    Sports Personality 2019 - Sunday 15th December

The BBC will soon be announcing the venue, but could copy as to what they did last year and not announce the contenders until the night. I looked up the statistics and found athletics came top with 51 athletes having come first, second or third in the final count. Andy Murray is top with having won it four times (he won it three times and came third, once). England are top, out of all the home countries, with 141 English people being placed in the top three in the past. Scotland came second with 18 and Wales came third with 13.

If they (the BBC) decided to give out an award for 'best comeback', it would go to Andy Murray.

If I was one of the people, who has decide what names to put onto the shortlist, I would have Andy Murray's name at the top.

No, but he must fit the criteria for the Hellen Rollason award?

“The BBC Sports Personality of the Year Helen Rollason Award is an award given annually as part of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony each December. The award is given "for outstanding achievement in the face of adversity", and the winner is selected by BBC Sport”.

    Contentious?

Yes, absolutely it's contentious! I know we're all huge Andy fans, but come on, let's keep some perspective. Here's a list of past winners: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Sp...Rollason_Award

Hmmm I'm not so sure. I don't think for a moment that Andy will be nominated but - given all that he has been through - I don't know why the h*** not!!
