I watched a gang of crows mob an eagle today - something I've never seen before.

Plainly taking his brains from his dad, my eldest has an unconditional offer of a place at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying for a B.A. in Production Technology & Management.

    Very proud!

Is that why it's known as a murder of crows?
I think I remember being told once that they are the only known bird to hold court and pronounce death on another if found guilty.
Or was that rooks? Can't remember now. Damn brain.

Not sure, Jagmad - maybe. I think the fact that there was the carcass of a dead kid lying nearby probably had something to do with it.

Re: What has made you happy or sad?

A strange thing happened in my family this week. My sister died which was very sad for the whole family but really not sad for her as she had been suffering with dementia for some time and had really had no quality of life for the last 18 months. She would have been 90 in June and had had a very full life. The odd thing was that her great granddaughter was born later that day, although she was not due for another 3 or 4 weeks. It was lovely to have something to celebrate on such a sad day but it did rather feel rather strange - almost as though it was written in the stars!

Sorry to hear about your sister Alis, though no doubt life had become very difficult for her. Some experience of this as my Dad has been ill for a while, with little quality of life lately. Hopefully birth of her granddaughter was of some comfort.

Very sad news about your sister Alis, but nice to have a brand new life to celebrate the very same day. My mum suffered from dementia too, Alis, and it is indeed an awful thing to watch. So the sadness becomes tinged with something like a little relief that she doesn't have to suffer anymore. Hugs. x
