Does anyone have any experience of this? Any advice to help cope? Not slept in going on 48 hours now... Im coming off medication at the moment, and it's clearly one of the withdrawal effects.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I think the best thing you can do is try not to worry about it. Time spent relaxing can be just as beneficial as time spent sleeping, whereas worrying about not sleeping is the worst thing you can do. Try some meditation. Also, don't go to bed too early - try to stay up really late before going to bed.

Living hell this, exactly same as these folk have described. (http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?libid=11421) If anyone is thinking about going on Pregablin I'd strongly advise against it, it messes up your body and the withdrawal process is worse than water torture. Funny thing is no doctor pre warned me about this. I'm so mad.
You doctor may be able to give you something to help.
Feel for you David. I've come to accept the occasional insomnia and decided that my body will make me sleep if it needs to - rest can be just as beneficial I think. I usually read in bed and wait till my eyelids start drooping before turning out the light. Contrastingly I find that being on the pc just before bed seems to excite my brain and I can't switch off. So if you're on your pc till the wee small hours, try giving it a miss for a couple of nights.

Can't take sleeping pills for personal reasons. I think I'll just have to endure the withdrawals off the pregablin. I'll get through it. Short term pain, long term gain.
Yup, there was a study that showed that using computers etc just before going to bed can cause sleep problems.

I suffer from insomnia on and off depending on different things, stress normally.
Laying awake and trying to sleep never works, reading a book, having a hot bath, making sure your room is dark and no electrical things like tvs, computers or mobiles are on the light stimulates the brain.
Ermm I am sure there are more things I have tried..will try to think

Insomnia is the worst! I feel for you, David. I had it once for months when I was workign full-time. Nearly drove me crazy. What made it worse was thinking about it all the time, the stress of knowing I had to be up in 2 (or whatever) hours' time mademe stay wide awake. I'm with Pabbers, the thing that helps me the most is reading in bed and turning the light off just as your eyes start to droop.

Maybe that's my problem - I'm usually on here until I go to bed. Actually, although I usually can't sleep in a strange bed, I slept much better in Monte Carlo than here. At the time I put it down to there being shutters on the windows to keep the light out, but not having a computer might have had something to do with it too.

Sorry to hear about this David, but I'm sure you'll get through it. You've been given some good advice and I would just add that you should just try and relax, only go to bed when you feel tired. All medications have side affects and affecct people in different ways, however it certainly looks as though you are suffering from withdrawal symptoms. If the situaion doesn't improve in due course you should consult your doctor. It's not a prolem I generaly have, but I remember one occasion when I had a restless night which wasn't much fun!

Thanks for the advice, definitely going to try and do some reading tonight.
Must take my own advice and leave the pc as it's nearly bedski time. Off to read my book instead. Nite all.
Just thinking the same myself! Goodnight!

This past week has been nothing short of torturous. Still got extreme insomnia with seems to part of the withdrawal symptoms from this wretched medication. Vow to see this out though, it can't last forever. Pretty sure I've come through the worst of it now.

Are you sure it wasn't all the :wino: that helped ;)
