I may go up to this.
I'm hoping to go a couple of the earlier days of the week as I've family living about 50mins away. Need to check when Qualies are being played 'cos I'm thinking of seeing all of R1 matches which would ensure catching all the British girls in action!
It's 10 mins from where I work. I may try and pop down after I finish early next week if the weather's good. I'll text you if I can get there Sally so we can say hi

I've just booked a ticket to go on Tuesday 12th. According to the Weather Channel (http://uk.weather.com/weather/10day-Birmingham-UKXX0018) that's likely to be the best day weatherwise all week with only a 20% chance of rain (although the Beeb site is less optimistic). If there are delays on Monday it'd mean lots of R1 matches on Tuesday.
They've just opened a new indoor facility at the venue so I presume that's where matches might be played if the weather is poor; not sure about spectating though. It'll be better from next year 2013 because they'll have completed building a new indoor arena with seating for 2500.
Caro - if you came along Tuesday we could deffo meet up 'cos I'll be there until the sun goes down.
£10 to get in after 4pm; car parking is £10 cash only.

I went on Monday last year and picked up a pre-booked ticket but there were people buying them at the ticket office onsite. I've read on the Aegon site that it's possible to do that but you might need prebooked tickets for the Semis and Finals depending on demand. However, I'd be surprised if they sold out ... curently you can buy seats in the front row on all days and I'd have thought they'd go first.

Women's Wta events very rarely have packed stands. The same for the low atp events as well.
So I'd presume you could simply buy on the day.
Petrol will cost £40, £20 ticket, £10 parking, £10 misc. It might be worth it?
I'd like to go to this, but I don't think I could afford the time off work. Maybe next year...

Hi Caro, it's probably worth coming over because they're putting 6 x R1 matches on each court and all the main Brits are on Centre starting from 11am. I suspect they'll play on until the light has gone and, provided it doesn't rain, I'll be there until 8/8.30pm.
If you come in after 4pm it's only £10 and a reduced carpark fee.
Centre Court (from 11.00hrs)

Had a brilliant day of tennis at Edgbaston watching 4 of the British women get through to R2 - Anne Keothavong, Mel South, Laura Robson and Heather Watson. Tara Moore played on a different court and she too won so that's 5 Brits to R2 and a record apparently.
Was hoping Bally would make 6 but her match didn't start until about 8.15 and I left when she lost the first set 4'6. A break up in the 2nd though I see so perhaps she can make it 6 Brits through.
It was absolutely freezing though watching the tennis!!! I had 2 sweatshirts on, 2 scarves and was tempted to go and get my ski gloves from the car. I had a thin showerproof too but didn't wear it in case it got even colder.
Back to snag a large Pimms ... after all the sun did finally come out on the tennis.
Caro - really sorry you didn't make it 'cos it would have been great to see you. I met up with 3 people from BT.net so we formed a "Brit cheering squad". Judy was there watching the girls but too far away to say hello and was probably attending in her Fed Cup captain capacity.
Might go again on Thursday but it will depend on who gets through to R3 and what the weather forecast is like; I may need thermal underwear and a supply of Aran sweaters!!!

Bally completed the comeback win in 3 sets against Chen.
Tara Moore was beaten in 3 sets but impressive tournament from her nonetheless.
Mel South also was beaten by Jelena. She forced a tiebreaker in the 2nd set though and had set points but couldn't quite force a decider.
Such a shame I couldn't get there yesterday! Glad you had a good time Sally, it was brilliant to see so many Brit wins. Doesn't look like I will get there today either - work has gone mad busy this week and only just having my lunch now! Oh well .....

Anne.K has just lost in straight sets to Zheng.
Robson lost the first set 4-6 to Erakovic but is up 5-2 in the 2nd.
Sallydaisy

Sadly Laura lost her match to Erakovic who won 6'4, 3'6, 6'4.
So, 6 British ladies won their R1 matches but so far 4 have gone out in R2.
The last 2 left in the draw are now playing each other ...
Bally leads Hev by 4-1, 30-15 but play has just been suspended at Edgbaston!!!

Goodness knows what will happen in Edgbaston today because I'm just 30 miles south and it's forecast to rain from 10am until 10pm so the singles Quarter-Finals might not get played if they have the same weather.
The doubles draw is even worse; so far only a few R1 matches have been completed.
Laura Robson is due in Eastbourne for qualifying rounds today - and Heather has a Wildcard into the main draw.
So this tweet from the LTA is hardly surprising!!!
British duo @heatherwatson92 (https://twitter.com/#%21/heatherwatson92) & @laurarobson5 (https://twitter.com/#%21/laurarobson5) have withdrawn from the doubles, thanks both of you for showing some #classicstyle (https://twitter.com/#%21/search/%23classicstyle) this week

Quarterfinals
(5/WC) Jelena Jankovic (SRB) d. Misaki Doi (JPN) 63 64
(Q) Melanie Oudin (USA) d. Irina Falconi (USA) 64 57 75
Semifinals
(Q) Melanie Oudin (USA) d. (8) Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) 64 36 62
(5/WC) Jelena Jankovic (SRB) d. Jie Jheng (CHN) 67 75 61
So, Mel Oudin v Jelena Jankovic in the final tomorrow, then.
Only £10 entry for that - worth going if you're in the area, I would think!

Good result for Melanie. Hope this gives her much-needed confidence to go forward and get some more good results.
Well done, Melanie! I remember her making a great run at the American Open a few years ago and then she seemed to just disappear - since then a few other young Americans seem to have stolen the scene. Let's hope this gives her the confidence to achieve her potential.
Excellent win. Wish I could have gone as I live quite close and work even closer but can't have any more time off work. Have booked most of Wimby off.

She suffered a serious injury Alis, that's why she was absent for so long. Only made her comeback recently.
She's still only 20. With Oudin, Stephens and McHale US has a great trio of prospects right there!
