The UK has an extended bank holiday making for a 4-day weekend from 2nd -5th June here.
It's all in honour of Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee celebrating 60 years on the throne.
Before anyone suggests flushing the loo and Queenie with it ...
... how are you spending the extra days?
Street Parties? Time to decorate the house?
Digging for diamonds? Wearing diamonds?
Extra days home to watch Andy at RG on Monday?
To find out the official programme visit this website (http://www.thediamondjubilee.org/central-weekend).
And enjoy the extra time whatever you do.

Awww I wish I was in the UK now. For the Queen's silver jubilee I remember we had a brilliant street party.
Here in Canada the CBC will be showing the concert on Tuesday night and that's about it. :crying: No bank holiday for us. We just had one for Queen Victoria two weeks ago anyway.
Hope y'all have fun!!!
bored to death with this already, between this & torch relay feel like going into hibernation till august when its all over

Glad for the extra time off, great that it coincides with french open! Will watch the concert but that's about it. Not into the royals whatsoever. Q excited about torch relay though!
Well I like it! And have just put a big Union Flag up in the window!

What's bad for my health is seeing all those annoying flags everywhere I walk. I'm teetering on the edge of becoming an arsonist. I hate all this jubilee carry on with a vengeance. Another giant con for certain people to make a hefty amount of money from. I mean those people you walk past in the pubs in their cringeworthy attire, with one of those god forsaken flags coming out of the pie they are eating. Grrrrrr I feel like the Scottish Werewolf in London at the moment :rolling:

Well we were going to go up to London to see the floatilla on the thames, but the weather is so horrible and cold and wet we decided against it! Probably go up to the Mall on tuesday instead :(
I'm thinking of going in to work on Tuesday in my full Davis Cup cheering gear. UJ Tshirt, UJ flag, UJ earrings, UJ boucy antennae . . . :big grin:
Dmitry Tursunov @TursunovTales
Her Majesty seems really pumped to ride the boat! I'd put her on a jet ski to sell more tickets though!

Dima is such a nutcase.
Cop all those rowing boats headed up the river - about 250 of them.
Wonder if there's been any 'hits' yet ..............
:p
Someone has the right idea at any rate - they keep sounding a hooter every time Claire Balding tries to speak.
;)
Queenie appears to be enjoying herself - here's a few tweets from Elizabeth Windsor (the spoof twitter account).

Elizabeth Windsor @Queen_UK (https://twitter.com/#!/Queen_UK)
Bit hectic at the palace. The DoE's frying up a light breakfast of bacon, eggs, sausages, potatoes, tomatoes and black pudding and beans.
Royal Jubilees used to be celebrated by sinking the entire Spanish Fleet but these days that's considered to be a little intimidating.
Edward's beside himself with excitement. He does love getting dressed up as a sailor
One can confirm that one Royal Flotilla will sail down the Thames and onto France, where we'll fire a few warning shots at the continent.
Got one's River Pageant swag on.
The DoE's firing a pea-shooter from a window at Buckingham Palace, seeing if he can hit Huw Edwards in the back of the head
One is afloat. Camilla's driving, God help us
Text from Prince William: "We're waiting for you on the barge gran! Kate's knitted you a blanket in case you're chilly. See you soon x"
Take note, Europe. This is how it's done.
Booze cruise.
Camilla's popped downstairs to see if she can find the duty free.
Ok, cast off. We want to land in France by tea-time.
Oh Jesus Christ, there's Bungle (Boris Johnson). Does this barge have guns?
The DoE's up-front, looking out for icebergs.

I watched on CBC HD. I found it all a bit disappointing maybe because of the crappy weather. I thought The Queen, Kate, Sophie and Camilla all looked rather nice. Also enjoyed seeing the Canadian dragonboat crewed by breast cancer survivors and the canoe.

Shame the DoE is unwell .....
The Duke of Edinburgh has been taken to hospital with a bladder infection and will miss the rest of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Buckingham Palace said Prince Philip, 90, had been taken to the King Edward VII Hospital in London from Windsor Castle as a "precautionary measure". The Queen is still expected to join 12,000 others at the Jubilee concert which is under way at the palace.
The prince will remain in hospital under observation for a few days.

And gotta love Madness!

Not sure if this is in response to the 'scaremongerers' but there's a tweet from British Monarchy to say the Queen is wearing a black cape (presumably to stay warm!) similar to one worn for an Annigoni portrait (http://www.borsheimarts.com/news/images/news0903_Annigoni_PortraitQueenElisabethII_1955.jp g).

Those two that sang one of the songs from West Side Story could certainly be accused of murder ;)
Wish I'd seen it from the start though - with all the tennis excitement I forgot about it and only switched on as Shirley Bassey came out....have to see if it's repeated...!

Ha, I rewatched the end of Andy's match on ITV4+1 so only turned on the concert around Kylie time. It wasn't too bad after that. It'll probably be on a DVD at some point and/or repeated.
Later tonight they're repeating Prince Charles tribute to the Queen.

I've not seen it all either - staff meeting then had to go collect Barley Bunny from his weekend lodgings so by the time I got back I'd missed quite a lot - but we've sky plussed it so will catch up tomorrow :)
It was brilliant ....
Which channel was it on? If BBC or ITV then you should be able to catch up. You can catch up on the tennis that way too if ITV has shown a particular match. Might be useful for Linda if she has to choose between say Rafa or Andy on Eurosport/ITV.

So last night I watched the concert on CBC here in Canada and was disappointed they cut quite a few acts out. No Shirley Bassey, Cheryl Cole, Flawless, Grace Jones, etc. I guess CBC thought no one here would know who they were. Yet Rolf Harris remained. Had to explain to my youngest who he was and also who Tom Jones, Cliff Richard and Lenny Henry were. I'm also disappointed that they had Aussies singing but no Canadians. I'm sure Bryan Adams or Michael Buble would have been up for it.
On Sunday our two daughters stood on the river bank in Battersea Park with our grandsons for 4 hours in the rain and saw very little but they said the atmosphere and the banter made up for it.
