Visitor Information
The Wimbledon website contains a wealth of information for visitors - old and young, regulars or new to SW19 - so it's worth looking there if you are planning to go.
Unfortunately, Wimbers have decided to 'update' their website and IMHO it's not as easy to navigate now but at least all the information is there if you have the patience to search for it.

2013 TICKET PRICES FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Owing to huge demand for Wimbledon tickets, the Public Ballot (since 1924) is still regarded as the fairest way to distribute Show Court tickets. Open to everyone and remains substantially oversubscribed. See Ballot (http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/tickets/201205091336562669724.html) for more information.

A limited number of tickets for Centre, No.1, No.2 Courts and Ground Admission can be purchased on the day at the turnstiles from 10.30am. These tickets cannot be booked in advance of the days which they are used and can be purchased only via The Queue (http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/tickets/201205091336565749973.html).

Tickets
There are a number of ways to obtain tickets to watch Wimbledon. Since we are close to the start of the 2012 Championships they're listed in the most relevant order.

1. Online ticket sales via Ticketmaster for Centre Ct and Court 3 only.
Link here. (http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/browse?category=31&root=10004?tm_link=seo_bc_minorcat) Go to the date you want and click on more info to check prices!
Payment by Credit Card or Paypal only. BEWARE - there is a £5.50 booking fee!!!

There are 2 options and the 1st one kicks off on Sat 22nd June at 12noon UK.
You are limited to 2 tickets per cardholder/address and you have to be VERY quick on the draw when the online booking opens. If you get through and are allocated tickets you need to work fast to complete your transaction within a set time. It's advisable to set up a Ticketmaster account in advance and be ready with all your information.

You cannot collect your tickets unless you take with you:-
i) the card you used to purchase the ticket
ii) the email confirmation you receive
iii) photo ID in the form of a driving license or passport.

a) Returned tickets - sold at 12noon for seats 2 days later e.g. link (http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/Centre-Court-Returns-Seats-Allocated-On-Collection-tickets/artist/3002564)
These are originally allocated tickets that cannot be taken up by the buyer/owner and are returned to Wimbledon to sell. They are scattered all round the courts and there is NO rhyme or reason as to the location. Some are pairs and some are singles and you have to take what is offered or try again (and risk missing out completely). The actual seats are allocated on a first come first served basis when you collect from the ticket office.

b) In the gods - sold at 09.00hrs for seats the next day e.g. link (http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/Centre-Court-Reserved-Seat-Seats-Allocated-At-the-Time-of-Booking-tickets/artist/5058058)
When Centre Court was rebuilt Wimbledon added extra seats in around the top and there are about 500 of these available every day via online sales. They are allocated when you book and you'll get a good view despite being so high up. Binoculars might help if your eyesight isn't so good and take a scarf/shawl because the wind gets in up the top there!!!

2. The Queue - Ground Passes/Showcourt Tickets on the day
The Queue for The Championships, 2013 starts at 8am on Sunday 23 June 2013.
Tickets are sold on the basis of one per person and you can only pay by cash ...

Approximately 500 tickets daily for each of the Centre (except for the last 4 days), No 1 and No 2 Courts are reserved for sale at the turnstiles. The first 1500 people in the queue each day are guaranteed a showcourt seat but it's first come first served in terms of Centre, 1 and 2. So, if you absolutely want to be on Centre Court you need to be in the first 500 at least on the assumption that everyone else is queueing for that court.

Roughly 6000 Ground Admission tickets are also available each day for entry to the grounds only, subject to overall ground capacity and number of courts in play. Once the grounds are deemed full (from electronic scanning of all tickets and passes) no-one will be allowed into the grounds until someone leaves.
Please see the next post for specific information about The Queue and camping overnight which is the only way to guarantee Centre Court tickets (or Ct 1 or 2).

3. Evening Ground Passes
These are available from 5pm onwards each day at reduced rates, scroll down to chart. (http://www.andymurrayfanforum.com/forums/showthread.php?1141-WIMBLEDON-GENERAL-INFORMATION-Tickets-the-queue-camping-parking-and-stuff&p=67666&viewfull=1#post67666)

You still have to go down the 'queue' route from the entrance at Car Park 10 via security in Wimbledon Park and over the footbridge to Gate 3 turnstiles. It's usually pretty quiet and you'd be unlucky to have to wait long to get in so arriving at 4.50pm would ensure a ticket!!!

It's a good option in the first week when so many singles and doubles matches take place because on fine days play can continue until about 9.30pm.

Entry at ANY time is subject to ground capacity.

4. Resale Ticket Kiosk
Available for sale at 3pm each day from the kiosk at the top of Henman Hill.
Payment by cash only and strictly 1 per person; you cannot buy for others.
£10 per ticket for Centre Court, £5 for other show courts.

As people leave the grounds (and crazy though it may seem some leave after the first match!) they are invited to leave their ticket and have it scanned for resale. As tickets go through the scanner replacements are generated in the resale kiosk. The proceeds go to the nominated charity that year.

A queue forms for this early on in the day because it gives those who got in on a ground pass a further chance to get onto a show court. You are honour bound to keep your place in the queue so make friends with the people in front and behind because if you need to go to the loo they'll have to keep your place. There is a drinks/ice-cream kiosk but it doesn't sell any substantial food so be prepared.

The resale kiosk is located at the end of the flat area of grass (with picnic tables/chairs) which overlooks Henman Hill and Court 18 and it's a great place to view the big screen. Make sure you're comfy; you might have to wait 4 or 5 hours up there but at least you can watch tennis too.

Around 2.30pm they divide the queue up into Centre and Court 1/2/3? lines and usually from then on they'll walk down the line offering single tickets or pairs. Once they've amassed a 'stock' they call people forward to the kiosk itself and things move quite quickly especially once the first match on Centre Court is over.

5. The Ballot
The Public Ballot is currently closed so I won't dwell on detail for now.
Here is the information (http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/tickets/201205091336562669724.html) currently given on the Wimbledon website for 2013.

6. Other Ticket Sources
BRITISH TENNIS MEMBERS BALLOT
British Tennis Members (LTA) are automatically entered into an exclusive ballot which takes place on 1 March each year.
AFFILIATED ORGANISATIONS & OTHER TENNIS FEDERATIONS/ASSOCIATIONS
Please contact your local LTA Affiliated Organisation directly - which includes tennis clubs affiliated through their national, county or island association - for entry into the private club ballots for showcourt tickets. Full membership is required.
DEBENTURES
Debenture seat details are not available until late May each year. These are the only Wimbledon tickets that can be transferred legally. All other tickets must be used by the original applicant.
OFFICIAL LICENSED AGENTS
A small number of tickets are available for corporate hospitality and overseas package tours through the Club and it's official licensed agents, Keith Prowse and Sportsworld
OFFICIALLY APPROVED PACKAGES
Newmarket Holidays offer a range of packages which enable you to book No1 Court (last 3 days only) with an inclusive offer of coach, ticket and overnight hotels.
OTHER TICKET SOURCES
Additionally, many tickets are sold through the LTA to its affiliated tennis clubs, schools, membership schemes and to foreign tennis associations.

7. Contacting the Ticket Office
IT IS NOT A BOX OFFICE - YOU CANNOT PURCHASE TICKETS BY PHONING.

The Queue
The Queue for The Championships starts at 8am on Sun 24 June 2012.
There is ONE QUEUE for the on-day sale of tickets at the Gate 3 turnstiles.
To join it you need to go into Wimbledon Park via the only entrance at Car Park 10.

Tickets are sold strictly on the basis of 1 per person queuing, pay by CASH ONLY.

Wimbledon remains one of the very few major UK sporting events where you can still buy premium tickets on the day of play. In conjunction with various local authorities Wimbledon has provided a safe environment for those who wish to queue and/or camp overnight for Championships tickets.

You are asked to cooperate with the Stewards, to ensure good behaviour in The Queue and restraint with regard to noise and the consumption of alcohol, and especially to respect the environment. The Honorary Stewards operate a Code of Conduct for The Queue and will arbitrate in any dispute.

What tickets are available?
Centre Court - Approximately 500 tickets are available each day at the turnstiles EXCEPT for the last four days on Centre Court which are pre-sold.
No.1 Court - approximately 500 tickets are available each day at the turnstiles.
No.2 Court - approximately 500 tickets are available each day at the turnstiles only for as many days as a full programme of matches can be maintained.
N.B. when Andy played his Semi-Final last year Wimbledon put a huge screen up on Court 2 so those with tickets could sit and watch the match.
Ground - several thousand tickets are available each day at the turnstiles entitling use of the unreserved seating and standing room on Courts No.3-19.

When to arrive - per Wimbledon
If you would like to queue for Ground passes, it is advisable to join The Queue a few hours before the Grounds open at 9.30am.
It is also possible to join The Queue for late entry to The Championships, after 5pm

When to queue - forum member experience
If you really really want a Centre Court ticket for a particular day you need to be in the first 500 in the queue. That definitely means queue/camp overnight and possibly over 2 nights***. Mostly though getting into the queue with your tent around 9am the day before will suffice to guarantee you Centre and if not Ct 1 or 2.

For ground passes most days it's enough to be in the queue by 7am. If there is a particular player you follow and they are on an outside court you could arrive earlier e.g. 5am or even camp overnight. There will be a rush once you get inside the grounds for seats on the outer courts so being at the front helps. The rush starts once the first tube arrives at Southfields station which is at 06.29 ... after that there will be a steady stream of people joining the queue.

Some examples based on 2011, first Friday 1st July.

In 2011 I had 2 friends who started queueing at 9am on Thursday 30th June for tickets on Friday so they could be assured of getting onto Centre Court. They took books, games, puzzles to keep occupied during the day, basic food and drinks and camped on Thursday night.

I wanted a ground pass for the first Friday (so I could meet up with those 2 ^^^ at some stage). I arrived at 7am to park my car, was in the queue at 7.15am with a ticket numbered around 3500. During my queue time I met 2 other forumites. One had arrived around 6.45am and had a ticket round 2700. Another arrived at 9am and had a ticket around 6800. We all got in (think I was in by 10.50am); the cut-off for that morning was around 8300.
After that people had to stay in the queue until someone left the grounds!!!

*** At 7am on Friday 1st here were already people in tents queueing for Saturday 2nd July Centre Court tickets; they'd been there since Thursday 30th June evening i.e. 2 nights camping.
How does it all work???

Queue Procedures - Cards and Wristbands
On your arrival at the end of The Queue you will be issued with a Queue Card for the date in question regardless of whether you are camping overnight for showcourts or just wanting a ground pass.

This card is dated and numbered to show your position in The Queue. It must be retained and will be checked on entry to the Grounds. These are non-transferable. Please note therefore that your position in The Queue (and therefore what ticket you will receive) is dictated by what time you arrive in The Queue.

Early in the morning (approximately 6am) anyone in The Queue will be woken by the Stewards, asked to dismantle any camping equipment, and close up into a tighter formation to create space for those joining The Queue on the day.

At approximately 7:30am Stewards will issue wristbands to those towards the front of The Queue who are queuing for tickets for the Show Courts. The number of wristbands issued exactly matches the quantity of tickets available for each court on that day.

Wristbands, marked by court and with a detachable 'court' tally, will be offered to queuers according to the number of Show Court tickets available. On reaching the entrance kiosk, the tally must be detached and handed to the cashier who will issue one ticket for the court on the tally.

The lucky 1500 will be then moved to the security gates within Wimbledon Park and once through those they'll go over the bridge and to Gate 3 to buy their tickets.

The remaining queue will follow on in card number order. Once the available spaces have been sold you have to remain in Wimbledon Park until someone leaves the grounds before you'd be allowed in. This is to comply with safety requirements/regulations regarding ground capacity.

Parking, Camping, Luggage, Facilities

Parking
You cannot park overnight in Car Park 10. This is to discourage people from sleeping in vehicles and also so they can take day ticket money from punters!
It opens at 6.30am and closes (all vehicles out) at 10pm; costs £25 cash only per day.

If you drive into Wimbledon you must pay to park your car during the day but if camping overnight must move it by 10pm when the car parks close and leave your car on unrestricted parking overnight. You can bring your car back in from 6.30am in the morning and leave it there all day again.

Camping
In order to get a deal with Wimbledon Park the AELTC have put measures in place to ensure the tent village is orderly!!! In return they've provided decent facilities and a safe space for campers.

Overnight queuers are requested to use tents which accommodate a maximum of two persons and they prefer that you don't erect gazebos. Due to space constraints Queuers will not be allowed to bring or erect gazebos from the 2013 Championships onwards. In order to minimise the impact on the neighbourhood and the local environment please bring only essential items/equipment

Do not play music or ball games etc. after 10.00pm. At this time all campers must be close to their tents and settling down for the night, recognising that other campers will be going to sleep. This rule is strictly enforced.

As Linda has noted - the Stewards are vigilant. They check for empty tents in case people have disappeared from the Park and will ensure all campers observe the queue guidelines.

Barbecues or fires are NOT permitted in The Queue, in Wimbledon Park, the Golf Course and on pavements outside the Park or Golf Course. Pizza/‘take-away’ orders must be arranged for delivery at the Wimbledon Park Road gate only (i.e. Gate 10).

Facilities
Within the queue and camping area there are toilets, litter bins, left luggage lockers (see below) food and drink stations and first aiders. There are some food shops in Church Road up near Southfields Station and various cafes. Most people bring basic provisions in with them for overnight camping and to see them through the day.

What to do with your kit when you go to watch the tennis?
aka Left Luggage
This also applies to those coming on the day with kit for the evening camp.

Camping equipment – along with oversized bags, picnic hampers and other prohibited items can be left in the dedicated left luggage facilities near the queue. A £5 charge will be made for the deposit of camping equipment £4 of which is donated to charity. Other items cost £1 to deposit.

Left luggage facilities are available within Wimbledon Park, opening at 5.30am and closing one hour after play ends for the day. Unclaimed items will be transferred to the Lost Property Office and must be claimed before the end of The Championships as return after this point cannot be guaranteed. Please contact the office on 0208 971 2251 to arrange collection.

Luggage regulations
ONE BAG ONLY PER PERSON WILL BE ALLOWED and this bag must measure no more than 16" x 12" x 12" (40cm x 30cm x 30cm). Further, NO HARD-SIDED ITEMS (e.g. picnic hampers, coolboxes or briefcases) OF ANY SIZE WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE GROUNDS.

Left Luggage facilities will again be provided outside the Grounds for items exceeding these criteria and for any other items you do not need during the day.

For speed of entry and ease we recommend no bags are brought to The Championships.
For a full list of prohibited items, please refer to Conditions of Entry (http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/visitor_a_to_z/201205161337179069416.html).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Extracts from the Code of Conduct (some elements already covered above ^^^)
The AELTC, in accordance with statutory authority, reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone adopting unreasonable social behaviour or who causes obstruction, danger or annoyance and/or commits any action against the spirit of this Code of Conduct. Please have regard for our neighbours, the facilities and others in The Queue and adopt reasonable social behaviour at all times.

- You are in The Queue if you join it at the end and remain in it until you have acquired a ticket at the turnstiles.
- Your position in The Queue cannot be reserved by the placing of equipment — you must be present in person and hold a valid, numbered and dated Queue Card. Queue Cards are issued one per individual and are strictly non transferable.
- You may not reserve a place in The Queue for somebody else, other than in their short term absence (e.g. toilet break, purchase of refreshments etc.).
- QUEUE JUMPING IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.- The turnstiles accept cash only; if necessary, please ask a steward for directions to the nearest ATM (cash point).
- Do not leave bags or other items unattended at any time; they will be removed and may be destroyed by the Police.
- Confiscation of a Queue Card constitutes refusal of entry to the Championships Grounds.
- Excessive consumption of alcohol and/or drunken behaviour will not be tolerated and will result in the confiscation of your Queue Card and removal from The Queue.
- There is a limit of alcohol allowed into the Grounds of one bottle of wine or two 500ml cans of beer per person.
- Please use the litter bins provided.
- Loud music must NO T be played at any time (use personal headphones).

The Stewards have the AELTC’s authority, supported by Security Officers and the Police, to withdraw your Queue Card and therefore refuse entry to the Grounds.

TIPS

1. Print out a map of the Wimbledon grounds - it's invaluable to have before you go.
2. Remember tickets, cash, suncream, waterproof, camera, hat/cap, medication, Murray Mints.
3. If you are collecting tickets from online sales remember to take the ID/credit card requested.
4. If you are queueing for ground passes take a plastic bag to sit on, the ground is damp at 7am!!!
5. You are not supposed to take in food and drink, be prepared to lose items in the bag search.
6. You are not allowed to take in anything weaponlike e.g. nail scissors, swiss army knives
7. Be prepared for a lot of standing around; if you've got a ground pass, wear comfy shoes.
8. Henman Hill gets mobbed; if that is where you want to be get there early and stay put.
9. Remember to take a 'sharpie' for autographs!!!
10. If you've got in there enjoy every minute of it; watch the tennis & forget the tweets & texts!!!

Wimbledon is wonderful.

Anecdotes from the queue

MIDDLE SATURDAY AND MAD MONDAY
Saturday 30th June 2012 - some tweets about queueing!

The Queue
- 2285 in the queue 5.03am and it's raining
- been here since 11am yesterday (Fri 29th) at 533, people arrived since day before!

Resale tickets (Andy's match on Centre Court started approx 19.10hrs)
I queued from 18.15 to 20.15....longer than I expected and got in early in the 2nd

http://www.andymurrayfanforum.com/images/smileys/smile.gif
Chris was in for the start (he queued @ resales from 2pm'ish)

ANECDOTAL NOTES FROM LINDA ... (2012)

A couple of years ago I queued on the Friday for the middle Saturday.
I got there about 8am Friday and got a Centre Court ticket on the Saturday. Probably those getting there before 9am Friday got their choice of court on Saturday.

As we packed away our tents Saturday morning and lined up, there were already people there queueing for the Monday. If you left it till Sunday to join the queue, I should think you'd definitely be too late to get your choice of court on the Monday.

In reply to the question about parking, it was a nightmare. When I got there in the morning I parked in the public car park, which is the one you are meant to use for the queue, and carried my tent and stuff to set up in the queue.

But it closes at night so you have to drive out and find somewhere to park on the road.

In the morning, when the parking restrictions come into operation and the car park opens again, you have to get your car and park it in the public car park again. Of course it is pandemonium with all the hundreds of people trying to do that.

At the same time they are getting people to pack up their tents and stand in line - I was really panicking about getting back to my tent (I had collapsed it, of course, but it and all my belongings were there) but thankfully two Dutch girls who were next to me in the queue moved my stuff for me. Then I had to quickly put all my stuff in my car & get back in line for the handing out of the wristbands for choice of court.

You really need two people together, so one can be moving the car whilst the other looks after the stuff in the queue.

AND FINALLY
Extracts from a blog written by an overseas visitor who queued for tickets on days when they didn't already have some from the Ballot. Please note - there may be elements here that don't agree with the official Wimbledon policy of NOT leaving the queue once you are in it.

A Tale from the Wimbledon Queue

WIMBLEDON – I’m not so sure if a Wimbledon (http://wimbledon) experience would be complete without queuing up for tickets. But camping overnight for a fifth row Centre Court seat was totally worth it. And would I ever do it again? In a heartbeat, yes.

Maybe we got lucky with the weather (it only drizzled for a bit on our second day of camping, with a little rain late at night), but for the most part, camping for Wimbledon tickets was an enjoyable and worthwhile experience. This coming from someone who has never camped in her life, with friends who have never camped in their lives. Yet, the consensus was the same: 100% fun.

Even though I got lucky and won Centre Court tickets for the second Monday of the Championships (here’s a tip: your chances of getting tickets through the ballot are better if you register to become a member of British Tennis for a minimal 1 year fee) I knew I would still queue for the other days. I wasn’t going to travel to London all the way from the Philippines just to see one day of tennis.

Here’s what we did on our two days of camping experience:

1.) We booked our hotel in Wimbledon. Marple Cottage is a quaint yet inexpensive B&B, that’s only a 10 minute bus ride to Wimbledon Park. It’s run by a lovely couple and serves a delicious breakfast.

2.) We ordered all our camping needs (our tent and sleeping bags) online at Argos’ Wimbledon branch 24 hours before we arrived in London which we then picked up right after checking in at our hotel.

3.) We figured around 11am was the best time to start queuing up for next day since we wanted Centre Court tickets. For the two days we did, we were number 140 on Monday for Tuesday’s play, and 90 on the queue card on Wed.

4.) After setting up our tent and base camp, it’s time to wait for the queue cards which they give out around 3pm-5pm. Everyone must be there to receive their queue cards so no one could leave. But once we got them, we could leave our tent behind and have a late lunch either at Wimbledon Village, or even closer, in Southfields.

5.) The reason why it’s best to book your hotel in Wimbledon is so you can go back to your hotel to shower. Around 7:30pm, we’d head back to our hotel, take a shower, order take out somewhere and head back to our tent for dinner. Then it’s time to sleep.

6.) The stewards line everybody up by 7am. So before that time, everything must be packed up, with bags and camping equipment checked in at the left luggage facility. Then, it’s a long wait and walk till you get your choice of ticket for the day. The ticket turnstiles indicate which section of the court they sell tickets to, so line up in the one where you want to be seated.

Overall, the entire experience was so much easier than I imagined it would be. By our second day of camping, we were experts at putting up our tent. The restrooms at the park were always clean, well-maintained and well-stocked.

The Queue: 2nd July 2018 - Twitter updates
07.07 - 6470.
08.30 - 8317.

I think they can let in between 7000 and 8000 per day depending on capacity within the grounds and that includes all the players, staff, press and seating on all courts. Therefore, the number of ground passes could be slightly less at the beginning of the tournament because so many of the courts are in use. Once capacity is reached they only let more in as others leave so if you are planning to go for the evening you might have quite a wait on some days.

Worth knowing (as posted by TheQueue) is that after a Federer match (if he wins) his fans leave the grounds en-masse to get in the queue for 2 days time i.e. today ready for Wednesday. So, that releases space/possibly tickets on Centre or Court 1.

The Grounds are at capacity; no entry via ground passes UNTIL someone decides to leave.
If you're thinking of going later you'd be wise to check; it can take until 3pm before anyone else is allowed in (or Rogers' match finishes).
