I honestly think Andy Murray has a problem and should seek advice from a physiatrist
He can’t perform to his best unless he is under pressure .
When he is in front he unwinds and starts to relax ! He needs to learn the killer instinct, Even when in control of a game he has to learn he still has to go for the jugular and not stop till he has killed the opatition

Hello ColinT. Welcome to the Andy Murray fan forum.
Glad to have you aboard.
:welcome:

You've just posted what many people have already said several hundred times over.

Thing is - Andy's tried the psychiatrist route and opted not to go any further.
But he's got a multiple Grand Slam Champion in his corner to help him understand what is needed.

NB. Your first 2 posts were identical to the first one in this thread so they've been deleted as they were duplicates.

Actually as I was driving up to Wimbledon yesterday I was listening to a discussion about Andy on the radio. There was a sports psychologist speaking and what he said was very interesting.

He said that there is only a finite space in your mind for focussing on a particular task (such as, in this case, winning a tennis match) so you don't want a large part of that space being taken up by an "image" of the other player or you will lose. The "image" he was talking about is your perception of the other player.

He said the most obvious example is Tiger Woods - all the other golfers had this "image" of him being unbeatable so they were beaten before they got to the first tee. But once Tiger had all the well-publicised trouble with his private life, that shattered his "image" and he became beatable.

This guy was assuming it would be an Andy-Nole final and said that if Andy has an image of Nole as No 1 and reigning champion, then he would lose. He needs to have the image of Nole as someone who is sickly and ill.

Of course this will still hold true when he plays Fed - if Andy sees Fed as the GOAT who has all these amazing records that will stop him playing his best. But if he sees that Roger frequently loses focus these days, shanks his shots and is also somewhat of a laughing stock due to his interviews, then Andy will win.

And I do think that Andy will not be a bit fazed by Fed's record so Andy should WIN! :cheer:
