View Full Version : Bubble Gap 2012 - Toronto: Deadline Mon 6th August 4.00pm UK time
Hello hello, hope you're all enjoying the Olympics :olympics:, particularly the tennis ;). With all the excitement, you'd be forgiven if you've forgotten that the next Masters is just round the corner. It's a busy time for tennis over the next few weeks and it starts with Toronto.
Rules and leaderboard posted here (http://www.andymurrayfanforum.com/forums/showthread.php?538-Bubble-Gap-Championship-2012). The aim of this competition is to guess the bubble gap after Toronto. The current race rankings are as follows:
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/290/racepretoronto.png
The current bubble gap is 2320. That's Andy's score (4550) - Almagro's score (2230) = 2320.
Tennis Olympics is done and dusted (:cheer: :gold:). Grayed out players have withdrawn from Toronto.
The highest possible bubble gap is 3320. That's Andy winning Toronto, with no-one overtaking Almagro.
The smallest (mathematical) bubble gap is 1560. This involves Andy losing his 1st match with Monaco winning Toronto and Berdych the finalist.
So in summary, your guess is between 1560 and 3320. The better you think Andy will do the higher your guess.*
Remember that you can't guess the same number as someone else and once you've posted your guess you can't change it.
Ranking points on offer for Toronto are:
R1: 10
R2: 45
R3: 90
QF: 180
SF: 360
F: 600
W: 1000
Good luck to all who take part and may the best driver win! :trophy:
Deadline: Monday 6th August, 4pm UK time
*Note that there is the possibility that Andy may withdraw from Toronto. The BG will run even if this happens, so you may may want to keep this in mind when making your prediction. If Andy withdraws the BG range will be between 1560 and 2320.

If Andy withdraws from Toronto, do we still do this?
If Andy withdraws from Toronto, do we still do this?
That's the plan yes, so you'll have to take this into consideration when making your prediction. Actually I should have mentioned this possibility in the first post, thanks for reminding me.

Oh what the hey, I'll bend the rules this one time - with all the good vibes going round these last few days I don't want to ruin it and be named a party pooper. :)
Thanks for everyone's entries by the way.

Thanks Manaus! :)
Missed it  Monday seemed such a long way off at the beginning of the weekend!
There's a long wait before anyone arrives in Toronto. 13 turn up looking happy and rather groggy :shelebrate: - not sure where the rest are but judging by the look of those who arrived I daresay that they're probably at some party and not willing to leave yet.
Eventually the stewards manage to push the drivers out onto the track and Lizzim sets the fastest pace (although they're all a bit slow this time round...) followed closely by Oscar. Sallydaisy and cazza99 come 3rd and 4th, Manaus and Linda behind them with the back of the top 10 made up of VamosVixs, rondun, DaveArneRiise and hfwardhouse.
Looking at the state of everyone I'm not sure how far in the race they'll get. Let's see what happens once the lights turn green...
Lights flip to green and the race gets underway - well for some of them that is. Some of the drivers get past the start line albeit at a snail's pace, a few drivers take a while before they realise that they're to start and a couple of others still seem a bit out of it.
Lizzim, Sallydaisy and cazza99 are the fastest and look to set the pace - well they would with the only problem being that they're going in reverse for some reason.
Linda and Manaus currently lead although they're not having to do much given what's happening with everyone else. This is going to be a very slow race...
The race is definitely dragging out. Many more laps of confused driving pass before the 3 going in reverse figure out that they're going the wrong way and gradually manage to catch up with the lead group, Sallydaisy leading the pack.
Not much else going on further behind, an overtake here and there. To be honest I think everyone just wants this race over and done with so that they can recover - that and some very angry clouds have been looming over the track for quite a while now...

Glad I packed my waterproofs!!!
Could a cheeky win from John Isner prompt a stewards enquiry?
Semi's: losers get no further points.
Novak DJOKOVIC (SRB) [1] vs Janko TIPSAREVIC (SRB) [5]
Richard GASQUET (FRA) [14] vs John ISNER (USA) [8]
Finalist gets another 240 and winner another 640
 Doesn't the finalist get another 240. (600 minus 360)

Ah yes, you're right. Please ignore. I was getting muddled with points for Slams Semi's (720).
Fortunately for Sallydaisy, the clouds hold back until the race finishes at which point it buckets down. Lucky escape for Sallydaisy along with cazza99 and Lizzim. :)
