Bear in mind that Andy needs at 60-90 minutes break so if they take a bit of time now it won't hurt.
They have to prep the court first with the podium.
Which they are doing right now .....

What this gives him is the knowledge that he CAN beat the best in a best of five for a title. Bring on his USO campaign, I say! That's his favourite slam for the atmosphere and where he feels most comfortable.
Said it before, will say it again - I want his first slam to be either USO/AO and then will sit back and watch him kick on to greatness from there.

Said it before, will say it again - I want his first slam to be either USO/AO and then will sit back and watch him kick on to greatness from there.

Indeed, this could be the catalyst that pushes him on. We all heard how Djoko helping his country win the Davis Cup spurned him on to play as well as he did and win all those slams. I dare say winning a gold in the Olympics in his home country is a nice alternative. :)
More importantly as you say, he's now shown that he can beat the top guys in a final of a 5 set match - essential experience.

That's a top point - with the best will in the world for all of us who have gone and supported Davis Cup matches, this has attracted national fervour on a completely different scale... so hopefully this is truly the start of something special.

That was just mind blowing, I just have a good feeling that Andy will go on and win the US Open this year.
It is only the BBC that showed the interviews but as it is the Olympics Andy I think has to give interviews to all the foreign broadcasters

An absolutely sensational performance from Andy and he really doimnated Fed,just a joy to behold,so much in the zone today. Ok Fed maybe wasn't at his best but Murray gave him little chance. Such a great moment for us all,I'm definitely on cloud 9! Sure the medal ceremony was emotional for many!

of course tough battles ahead in the coming tournaments but Andy should get such a confidence boost! Some will say Andy still to do it in the slams but the olympic tennis is pretty big nowadays and Andy was the best player,so thrilling!

For anyone else who missed it this is some of what Andy had to say after the match(from the BBC):

Andy Murray on winning Olympic gold: "This was one of the biggest wins of my life. I have had a lot of tough losses in my career and this is the best way to come back from the Wimbledon final. This week has been incredible for me, the support has been amazing at all of the Olympic the events.

"I watched the athletics last night and the way Mo Farah won gave me a boost coming into today. I didn't expect that [being crowned Olympic champion] at the start of the week. I thought I'd go deep into the tournament but I felt so fresh today. It's amazing."

With all respect to the Rogers Cup, is there anyway Andy can "legally" withdraw? To me it's ludicrous that he has to rush off to Canada and cannot stay and enjoy the victory and the adulation it will bring. Tennis is the only Olympic sport where it's participants will be playing competitively elsewhere before the games have ended.

I think he has to do a day of Olympic Medal duties tomorrow.
He'd have to cite an injury to be able to withdraw properly.
Bearing in mind Andy's not good with jet-lag I'd rather he headed over the pond soon and had plenty of time to adjust. He might not do so well in Canada but he'll have time next week to play himself into the hard courts and he needs that now after 8 weeks of grass court play/practice.

Coming down a little bit more down to Earth, what was impressive about that match in terms of Andy's play was his domination of most of the points.
We have had endless discussions of level of aggression Andy needs in his matches - if ever in doubt again, just show a video of that match!

And if anybody doubts Andy Murray, remind them that in his interview after winning the gold medal, when asked what he did the previous night, he had cheered on the British athletes and the detail with which he talked about how Mo's last lap time was 53 seconds after 9600 metres and he did 57 secs best in his training shows just how much of a sports fan he is and how patriotic!

Fellow Murray Fans,

A joyous day for us all, makes all the years of support, Murraycoasters, Sofa-diving, Nail-biting, following matches when supposed to be working, late nights, the agonising loses, the cruel slam final defeats worth it. Today he became what we know him to be - CHAMPION.

Even better, he beat Djoker & fed to do it! Shame it couldn't be double Gold but I think it's safe to say I am happy!

Don't think so, it was only a couple of inches inside the house and we managed to divert most of it into the (unused) cellar - carpets and vinyl will need replaced but everything else seems ok. Scariest bit was the 5 feet deep in my dog kennels, but fortunately i realised it was coming and let them out in plenty of time.

Have followed tennis for 50 years and supported all nationalities of players but never with the fervour that I support Andy so today has been just brilliant. I've been down in the depths with him so many times that the joy today was so intense that I didn't even notice the terrific thunder and lightning that accompanied his triumph. So happy for Andy himself - he's been the bridesmaid too often, for Kim - who has been at his side for so long, for his mother and father - who made such sacrifices over the years and for all of us loyal fans. As my mother used to say - everything comes to those who wait, if you wait long enough! ENJOY!!!

Feeling do proud of Andy 's achievement today. He did superbly well, especially on his service. Hate that certain people are already attempting to discredit his victory by saying 'he got lucky, Roger & Novak were both in bad form' etc etc that's rubbish, after the defeat Murray suffered, if anyone should be in a bad place it should *be Andy. But, he's not. He's picked himself up with such courage and deserves such respect.*

Just wanted to share with you guys something I posted on my personal Facebook page - this was actually a thinly-veiled jibe at a couple of my friends who have been anti-Murray for years and taken great, childish delight in telling me how pleased they are whenever he's lost a match - quite how I've remained friends with these people is a bit of a championship feat in itself!! However, this is what I posted:

"I'd like to dedicate today's win to every journalist who has ever printed racially-motivated LIES about one of this country's finest, cleanest-living, respectful and courteous sportsmen. I've been a proud Andy Murray supporter since 2005, but never more proud than I am today. Perhaps now, instead of bemoaning the fact that he's Scottish, we can finally celebrate the fact that he's British?! :)"

Take care... :)
