Magic Murray and Rockin' Robson have done it again.
They're into the Final of the Olympic Mixed Doubles and are assured a Gold or Silver medal for TeamGB.
We don't yet know who they are playing because, having won the Mens Doubles Gold, one of the Bryans sitll has to play a Mixed Doubles Semi!!! The Brits will play either Azarenka/Mirnyi or Raymond/Bryan.

Andy and Laura will be up against Vika Azarenka (WR1 Singles) and Max Mirnyi (WR1 Doubles).
The latter has won Grand Slam Mixed Doubles titles at Wimbledon and the US Open and 7 Mens Doubles Grand Slam titles. The pair were the #1 seeds for the Olympic Mixed event. He had a spell of partnering Jamie Murray a couple of years ago and his nickname is The Beast.
They'll be a seriously difficult pairing for Andy and Laura to beat.

At least they're playing someone I really like in Max Mirnyi. Can't say the same about his partner but at least Team GB aren't playing either of the Team USAs.
Really looking forward to this now I've read the thread on the two matches from today - well yesterday now. Probably more interested in this than the singles. Go Murson!!!!
My nerves will be all over the place tomorrow with not 1 but 2 finals for Andy but i really could not be any more proud and pleased for him than i am. I think they can do it but Laura needs to serve about as well as she can.

Whatever happens its a silver medal - but I seem to remember another Murray winning a mixed somewhat unexpectedly. Can it happen twice ? :GBsmile:

Fabulous Andy and Laura are in the mixed final and really have risen to the occasion! They've all gone the distance and there's been some nervy moments but they've come through in style! Certainly would've have expected a silver here but whilst the final will be tough a gold is not out of the question!

Very sad for Andy and Laura but they played incredibly well against the #1 seeds and very experienced players both of whom are Grand Slam champions.
Glad for Mirnyi though.

I though Laura played well today; the serve was MUCH better than in the Semi's but it's a shame her DF's came when they did in that CTB. But she's only 18 ... this is the equivalent of playing in a Grand Slam final and she's the only one of the four players who hasn't experienced that. Also, she wasn't the only one of the pair to make unforced errors in the match.
Once Vika and Max got over the shock of losing the first set they set about reminding themselves why they were the #1 seeds in this event and played much much better. They're both Grand Slam Champions after all ...
I think playing the Mixed Doubles has helped Andy here at the Olympics; he's been part of a 'team' and had something else (not over taxing) to think about rather than fret too much in between his singles matches.
Silver for the pair is excellent considering they were Wildcards into the draw and by 2016 in Rio Laura will only be 22 and andy 29. Bodes very well methinks for more Olympic glory.

Just the odd point here and there made the difference. Andy's obviously gutted at the moment but I'm sure tomorrow morning he will be delighted with his medal haul! I'm so proud of Andy - Laura too, of course, but Andy is a star!

Pity Andy/Laura didn't win but up against quality and still fabulous to take the silver! Yes Laura did have a few doubles but Andy also erred on some key points and the match slipped from their grasp.

Great stuff - no shame in a silver. To be fair the better team won on the day and Laura has loads more chances ahead of her with more experience under her racket - maybe even with Andy. I think they make a great pair.

I don't know that there was a better team really - team GB ran away with the first set and Belarus weren't at the party. It was just a matter of a point here and there but certainly no disgrace in silver. I bet Andy would have bitten your hand off if you had offered him a gold and silver at the beginning of the week!

Amazing match and a well-deserved silver! The gold was so-o close and Andy and Laura should be so proud of their achievement - and considering they were in as a wild card too!! Just fantastic! Their doubles partnership seems to be consolidating itself really well. Bright hopes for the future! So So proud of Andys achievement!!! I'm still floating! Nice moment at the end after they cleared away the podiums and dimmed the roof lights, Andy came out for more photos wearing both medals and then was joined by Laura, Judy, Matt, Leon, Louis etc for a group photo and then a group hug. Great smiles all round. :)

I'm so sad the tennis is all over. It's been one of the best weeks ever and so glad Andy has felt part of Team GB and has been inspired by other British athletes. I know he's inspirational to many many British youngsters. I'm so proud of being British and these Olympics have been a triumph - wish we could host them all the time! Also hope this fab momentum Andy has developed carries over to the US Open. I think, no, I'm SURE, he's at the start of a majestic climb to the top. GO ANDY!! You've done us proud. Thank you SO much!

So so proud of Andy and Laura they really played so well and it was down to the wire that they lost really, laura really impressed me again today and she is a silver medalist! And only 18. Love how Andy wasnt happy with just a silver, gold medals only but im sure now and later he will realise what a champion having 2 medals means.

Reef, I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. He really doesn't possess Djoko or Rafa's charms but we love him anyway. I think he's just shy of doing that stuff. I hope that's the reason. Laura looked rather shy around him too.
Ha!! Ha!! I thought the same as well. Was willing him to give the flag to Laura or at least share, but alas no. Have to love him though. I think he was probably frustrated with himself that they were so close to gold, perfectionist that he is. I am sure he has had time to realize now that it was a wonderful achievement, gold & silver in the same day.

No-one settles for a silver - Michael Johnson put it well last night about Christine in the 400m 'She won a silver she didnt lose a gold'.
