Possibly Andy does have a bit of luck on his side this time, at least he finished before the expected storms-all a bit chaotic! Nole really did seem distracted though Ferrer really up for it, may be different tomorrow mind you.

I've decided I just don't understand the American phsyche - why on earth would they not consider playing both semis at the same time? Could it be that they would have lost a huge amount of TV revenue perhaps?

Possibly. More to the point the Armstrong and Grandstand courts were 'closed down' with no play scheduled there this weekend (bit like Court 2 at Wimble) and they put the Juniors on outside courts. Whatever the reasons it really doesn't make sense to delay a Semi like this because now they have to pay staff and security to be on-site all day Monday.

I'm glad they didn't to be frank. As likely Murray Berdych would have been on LA... and we all know that isn't Andy's favorite court. It's all worked out very well as far as Andy's concerned. In the locker room getting his massage preparing for the final, while Nole is staring down the barrel of a 1 set defecit and not only has to battle it out with a duracel battery but also wretched conditions and potential disruption. Which just magnifies the hassle of it.

Glad the Americans haven't had the sense to put the 2 semis on at the same time. Now it's someone else's turn to suffer the unfortunate turn of events that Andy had to endure the year he beat Rafa in the semis only to meet a very refreshed Fed in the final. For once everything has turned out to his advantage........now it's up to him to do the business.

:cauldron:one would be tempted to draw some sort of conclusion that it is perhaps favorable to be drawn in the same half of the draw as the GOAT, where one might get caught in the slip stream of the mighty ones apparently never ending good fortune when it comes to scheduling matters

Either way I want this match to be a grinder.
I'd hate, after all of the hullabaloo, for either Nole to collapse like a pack of cards, or Ferru to cave under the pressure.

Often the semis have more heart than a final, and I really hope that after all the dramaz yesterday - it's a really enthralling match.
Mind you - I really hope that the women's match is competitive too... 'bout time we had a real slug-fest out there for the title.

And then next year we can all bask in the glory of no more "Super (or should that be Stupor) Saturday and they start to think of the players for once

Nole had dropped so few games, never mind no sets, this tournament before yesterday. Even if Daveed gets the first set (with two breaks, he should) and the tournament takes place in New York he is entitled to call it the Chicago set (windy city and all that :)), and his confidence will not suffer.
Suspect Nole will do it in the three sets afterwards, perhaps with one tight set and then two easier sets.
Would be delighted to be proved wrong and I think even duracell Daveed will be glad of the break, but let's see!

At least more fight from Ferrer in 3rd when it looked like possibly being one way traffic but Nole takes 3rd 6-4 and will surely take it in 4. Ferrer doesn't really have enough weapons to put Nole in this form under pressure and doubrt he has a lot of options to change things up. Not great for David to start the 4th and surely long way back now.
