View Full Version : Jamie's ranking

August 2011

Up one place today to #41.
He's playing in Winston-Salem partnering Santiago Gonzalez WR#40.

It's an ATP250 so reasonable points on offer if they could get to the Semi's.

Jamie stays at #41 in the Doubles Rankings this week.

He might not be top Brit after the USO - Fleming and Hutchins are picking up lots of points!!!

jamie had a good week, so he's now ranked at 23.
kidbro not too shabby either, he's leaped up to 52
and the dubs table for GB players is interesting (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Rankings/Doubles.aspx?d=10.10.2011&r=0&c=GBR#)

It's good to see Jamie's ranking at an all time high. Hope it keeps travelling in the right direction!

The 52 ranking for Andy off just 8 tournaments is pretty impressive!

The win in Tokyo brought Jamie’s doubles ranking to a career-high of No. 23, a feat that would have almost certainly been impossible without his brother’s assistance. Though Jamie has only played eight of his last 29 tournaments with his brother, he has earned 1,630 of his total 2,610 ranking points in those eight events. The proportion is especially surprising since those eight tournaments do not include any of the four more lucrative Grand Slam events.

i suppose i was hoping that 'for Jamie's sake', andy would hobble thro dubs, and shake off his stiffness 'just like that'.
i find it hard to credit that, surrounded by trainers and physios, andy has not overcome a bit of stiffness in the last day and a half.

Have just got in and am trying to catch up with the disappointing news. Where have you seen it quoted that it's just 'a bit of stiffness'?

Andy's injury was more than stiffness, he has an injury.

Linda

I think Harriet meant that she hoped it was just stiffness. It is a hamstring strain, which should not take too long to get better.

How can anyone - professionally trained or not - anticipate someone waking up with a gluteal muscle strain? It might have been that he pulled something in training which only emanated itself when he woke up today but it's still not something that anyone can predict - and he does have some fantastic people around him looking after his 'body'.

It's not 'stiffness' as such but is clearly painful enough to prevent play and/or risk further complications if Andy had continued in Basle. No doubt Jamie will be disappointed but I'm sure he'd understand the need for Andy to rest up and skip playing here in both singles and doubles.

Anyone who has suffered from pain emanating from the sciatic nerve will know that it is much more than 'a bit of stiffness' - it can be absolutely excruciating! It's really bad luck on Andy - from his interview you could see how upset he was at letting everyone down. Let's hope it rights itself in time for Paris.

As expected Jamie has dropped 10 places in the doubles rankings out this morning now that his 500 points from Valencia have dropped off.
He's at #34 and winning a couple of rounds in Paris, with Colin Fleming, would be a huge help in getting back into the top 30.

Sallydaisy
09-01-2012, 11:26
Jamie kicks off 2012 ranked at #35.

A few wins would provide a buffer against some points dropping over the next few months and keep him up there!
:)

Sallydaisy

Jamie is ranked at #37 as of today now the rankings are updated following the Australian Open.
Fleming is #29 and Hutchins #38.

Jamie hasn't slipped as much as he might have done bearing in mind the points he's had to defend so far this year.

So Jamie will be in Rotterdam but we don't know who with?
Ummm no.

week 6: 180 (Andy/Jamie in Rotterdam) Andy hasn't entered Rotterdam so this could be tricky.
The bit in brackets is about who partnered Jamie to get those 180 points.
The bit in green says that Andy hasn't entered Rotterdam so it could be tricky for Jamie to get into the tourney let alone defend his points.

Jamie has dropped to #46 today and his ranking is seriously under threat this week.
He's defending 250 points from the win last year in Metz where he and Andre Sa are defending champions.

They have a tough first round match in Metz 2012 where they face Malisse/Waske. Whilst Waske is less of a problem there's trouble when Malisse is playing 'cos he's still seriously good at doubles and the pair could easily despatch Mursa in R1.

Fina

^^ I agree, Lynne.
Thought I'd read somewhere that maybe Jamie could partner Marray next year since Nielsen is prioritising the singles.
But in an interview in The Sunday Times, Marray says:
"Next year it [teaming up with Jamie] is a possibility and it could be a good idea. But Jamie didn't manage to defend the [Tokyo] title with Andy and his ranking dropped down into the 70s. I am the world No 21, which will stay pretty much in place until Wimbledon next year. My plan is to play all the Masters 1000 series events and I'd need a partner with a ranking nearer to mine to get into the main draws."

So, not looking very likely.
I really hope Jamie can get something more permanent sorted for 2013.

Thought I'd read somewhere that maybe Jamie could partner Marray next year since Nielsen is prioritising the singles.
I think there was some forum speculation that it'd be good for Jamie to team back up with the higher ranked Marray since neither would have permanent partners. Seems Jonny has other ideas.

Jamie drops 300 points for reaching the final in Basel last year (Basel & Vienna didn't clash in 2015) and Bruno's chances of becoming #1 are lessening as he won Basel and loses 500 points. no change, today's young thruster is Marin Cilic, and the 'same old, same old' guys are back, ie rafa and fedX

down a notch, 10 for Jamie, 11 for Bruno, 4 in the Race still; kidbro at 3 and 15. del Potro lost the Basel final to 'golden oldie' fedX, so WTF seems unlikely for delBoy this year, alas.

progress in Paris moves them up a spot, Jamie 9, Bruno 10, 4 in the Race - London here we come.
kidbro has freefallen to 16, dropping 2500points. Sock booted himself into London by winning in Paris, rising 13 spots..

SAMO, or Same old, same old, as those who have been to the Basquiat exhibition at the Barbican will know, Jamie 9, Bruno 10, (but Race up to 3) kidbro 16.

well, new year, it's 2018, and for some it's a year with all to play for - kidbro has slithered down to 29! - the only way is UP! and pipsqueek Kyle Edmund is at 24 - GO KYLE!
meanwhile the heroes of this post are Jamie 8 and Bruno 9, after their defence of their Acapulco doubles crown - and 4 in the Race

well after their early exit from Indian Wells Jamie has slumped to 14, and Bruno to 15, tho they remain at 4 in the Race.
kidbro remains at 29, tho pipsqueek WENT! down 2 to 26.

another tournament, Miami, another early exit - tho they lost to the beaten finalists Khachanov + Rublev, the upshot is no change for JB, no change for Kyle, kidbro continues his plunge to the lower depths, down one to 30

kidbro plummets to 34, which means his somewhat delayed rise will need to be supersonic if he is to be seeded come the summer (assuming summer is still to come and last weekend wasn't it), young Kyle is at 23, but Jamie rises 1 to 13, Bruno 14, tho they are down 1 at 5 in the Race - i don't understand this stuff i just write it.

Will the special Wimbledon seeding formula be applied to kidbro? If so I reckon he would be seeded around 20 despite possibly being ranked as low as 150.

Will the special Wimbledon seeding formula be applied to kidbro? If so I reckon he would be seeded around 20 despite possibly being ranked as low as 150.

From the Wimbledon site explanation of their seeding formula, it looks like it only applies to the 32 seeded players as per ATP rankings and as the ATP doesn't allow a PR ranking to be used for seeding purposes, it looks like it wouldn't help Andy. But I don't really know.

well, JB lost in the semi to the eventual winners, so JB now 11 and 12, and 5 in the Race; kidbro sinks to 45, and the Brit numero uno rises to 17

harriet
13-06-2018, 09:28
well, if they keep losing their ranking will drop - JB now down 1, 12 and 13, and 7 in the Race.
kidbro sinks below the horizon, down 110 spots to 157, rising star is Kyle at 18 - tho he also dropped a spot, and Cameron Norrie is bobbing up at 79.
i'm really looking forward to Andy's return and seeing him rise up the ranks - when you're number 1 you're just fighting to retain your spot, much more fun to play, win and RISE

same as last time. after Wimbledon the big risers are Raven Klassen and Michael Venus, up to 6 in the Race, leapfrogging JB, and Joe Salisbury, up 39 spots.

after rainy Citi Wahington, JB triumph and rise 4 spots to Jamie 9, Bruno 10
kidbro went ballistic, withdrew after 3 crushing victories, rose 457 spots to 375
tho my favourite headline of the week was the Huffington Post, as Andy wept on court at 3am after beating M Copil :"Andy Murray Just Scored an Ace for Men's Mental Health"

another first round loss, BUT their spots rise! Jamie now 7, Bruno 8, at the expense of the French pair Mahut and Herbert who dropped 8.
winners were Kontinen and Peers who are on a roll, beating Klassen and Venus in the final.
kidbro had the week off and stays at 375

this week it was wet weather in Cincinnati, but it didn't damp JB's spirit, they WON beating Cabal/Farah 10-6 to wrap up the final tb10.
JB stay at 7 and 8, but have risen to 5 in the Race.
ironically Cabal/Farah have jumped 2 spots to 2 in the Race, and they've leaped up 10/11 in the world.
kidbro is taking time off, now ranked at low 378 with 110 points

JB sinking, now at 11 and 12, down 4, but remain at 5 in the Race. kidbro took time off, ie week 2 of USOpen, but still rose 75 to 307

no change for JB, 11 and 12, 5 in the Race; kidbro getting uppity, in fact up 52 to 259, 6 in UK.

well, oddly, JB are up in the rankings - Jamie 9, Bruno 10, and 4 in the Race to the WTF.
kidbro is down 2 to 262, and he's either working hard or taking time off

harriet
15-10-2018, 13:33
no change for JB, 9 and 10 and 4, qualified for the WTF.
kidbro down 1 spot, 200 points, 6 in the UK ranks, Kyle has over 2000 points, no one else has cracked the 1000 mark.
