good news for the future of tennis in GB.
in his Analysis, Jonathan Overend, the BBC's tennis correspondent, wrote:-
"After years in the doldrums, British tennis appears firmly on the up. At the US Open, 3 of the 4 boys semi finalists were Brits with Oliver Golding taking the title. In Mexico a team of even younger lads, bizarrely born within a fortnight of each other in January 1995, had a magnificent week, unbeaten in singles play. Their semi-final thrashing of France, that traditional benchmark nation for junior development, was perhaps particularly notable. Captain Rusedski's desire to put something back into the sport which made him millions should be applauded. But most credit must go to Hoyt, Bambridge and Edmund. Hopefully names for the future."

Congratulations to Liam Broady & Joshua Ward-Hibbert who won the Orange Bowl 18U boys' doubles final after beating Dominic Thiem of Austria and Robin Kern of Germany. In the final match of the day on Sunday in Florida, the British duo secured a 6-4, 6-3 victory to take home the title.

It caps a successful fortnight for the British pair who finished runners-up in the 18U boys’ doubles at the Eddie Herr International in the lead up to the Orange Bowl. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :trophy:

Well done Katie Boulter who finished runner-up in the 16U girls’ singles event after winning five matches last week including four in straight sets. The second seed beat Kimberly Yee (USA) to reach the final before being defeated 6-4, 6-3 by Erin Routliffe.

Well done Alex Sendegeya who finished runner-up in the16U boys’ doubles with his Dutch partner Franz Sydow. I was not sure that I even wanted to go to the US Open for the junior tournament. I was already starting to concentrate on the senior circuit, and had played a few Futures events in the couple of months that had passed since Wimbledon.

Congratulations to all our juniors on their fine achievements in 2011. Hope they will continue to improve and achieve even better results in 2012.
