So Canada and Italy are 1:1 after day 1. Should have been 2:0 Canada but Vashy got tired after being 2 sets up. Too bad. All rests on the doubles I think. I really don't understand why Canada isn't playing Jesse Levine, who is higher rnked than either Vashy or Frank.

DC Canada-Italy blog from Tom Tebbutt. (http://www.tenniscanada.com/index.php?title=TEBBUTT:-MILOS-ROLLS,-VASEK-ALMOST-ROCKS&pid=4517) I loved how the crowd of uni atudents held up giant Ace cards and photos of Vashy and Milos.

Wow! Great win for Canada. Must win. 15-13 in the fifth. Amazing - best DC rubber I've ever seen tbh.

That was a fantastic win !!!! Wasnt really expecting it , but sooo glad they got it . Very impressive !!

Why were the Italians complaining about the crowd ? They forget its Davis Cup ?

Meanwhile Djokovic and his rolled ankle save three break points to win the first set 7-5 v Querrey in Boise.

Coz they're divas esp. Fognini. He just wants the extra attention. Our DC atmosphere is nothing compared to other countries. But we did only have one Italian supporter.

yeah , i figured that Fiona , Fognini is easy on the eyes , but a bit of a whiner

Now its time for Milos , thank goodness sportsnet is showing it .

Historical! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I have NEVER seen either Milos or Danny be so emotional. This means so much!

The semi will be in Serbia on clay. Good job Milos trains on clay. We're gonna have to hope Djoko doesn't come.

Great article from The Toronto Star. (http://www.thestar.com/sports/tennis/2013/04/07/davis_cup_tennis_milos_raonic_nets_historic_win_fo r_canada.html)

I laughed at this bit: "Seeing Raonic jogging around the court after vanquishing Andreas Seppi in four sets waving a Canadian flag was powerful symbolism, for the best singles player we’d ever produced before, Greg Rusedski, bolted to play as a phony Brit during the 1990s because playing for Canada was, in his mind, a dead end."

RFET have announced today that the Spain/Ukraine playoff will be in Madrid. If Croatia proves too difficult/expensive then I might try to get tickets for this instead - Madrid is easily doable in a weekend.

How strange, Corretja has left Granollers and Ferrer out, and picked Robredo and Verdasco instead.

Djokovic made quick work of Vashy and he won in straights inc. a bagel. Milos also won but only just - his went to five. Crucial rubber will be the doubles. Because there's no way Milos will beat Djoko and Vashy has only a slim chance against Tipsy on Sunday.

Czech are 2-0 up on Argie.

Spain also 2-0 on Ukraine. Rafa had a couple of bagel sets!

That was a seriously enjoyable match with Serbia. I really didn't think we'd win but we did! Flashy Vashy to the rescue. I have never seen Daniel Nestor so excited. He said afterwards that this is one of his top wins next to winning the Olympic gold and Wimbledon. Also, said that if Vashy won his match - BIG IF - it would be Vashy's biggest win ever. Shows how much DC means. And there is a brilliant 400-strong Cdn cheering squad who made much more noise than the other 10,000 Serbian fans.

He doesn't care probably, or maybe he has finally realised that Stan is now playing better tennis than him and therefore letting him play (hehe!!), probably the former though. Doesn't make much difference anyway, Switzerland stay in the World Group even before having to play the 4th and 5th rubbers, they are safely through.

Federer only plays for DC when he needs to - i.e. for Olympic eligibility.

Sad Canada lost but they should be really proud of a) getting to the semis in the first place and b) winning two rubbers in this tie.
