DOUBLES ENTRY LIST
Hope Flemchins can get in - their ranking has slipped (injuries then not doing so well on return to the tour) so they'll be relying on getting an 'on-site' OS place. Jamie Murray and Dom Inglot are not down to play but Huey has teamed up with Jonny Marray for this one. Delgado is injured and anyway he and Ken Skupski aren't ranked high enough to get in.

I'm sorry for Ferru that he's had to withdraw from Shanghai too, he was defending finalist points there. :sad: I watched his match today - he called the doctor out on court towards the end of the first set and decided to retire straight away. He's got a stomach virus and apparently has had a fever for two days. I think he really needs a rest now after playing so many matches. He's hardly had any time off this year - he played Davis Cup only days after the USO and then flew to Kuala Lumpur shortly after that.

Andy will probably play R2 on Tue/Wed, R3 is Wed/Thur, QF Fri, SF Sat, F Sun. So, he has 3 days to recover from Tokyo (and perhaps have a little more back massage) before playing again.
I like that draw for Andy - think he'll reach the SF at least.

Certainly seems a reasonable draw for Andy in the early stages and in a masters is nearly always tough in the latter stages. Obviously Isner can be a challenge on his day should he reach the quarters and whilst Gasquet has had a few wins Andy has certainly won the big matches lately.
I wished Andy had done better in the Clay 1000 tournies so he did not have to play so much towards the end of season to keep up his ranking. Last year it was awful with Bangkok, Tokyo and Shanghai and was too tired and injured to play Basel and the O2, now found himself having loads of points to defend. None of the other top 3 played 3 in a row. I can understand why he is playing Basel because they use the same surface and balls as the O2
I like that draw for Andy - think he'll reach the SF at least.
No Draw is good, reasonable or easy if one is tired or injured

Well I cant see anyone in either Novak or Fed's section who is likely to prevent their semi-final appearance unless they have a very bad day. Reckon Isner is unlikely to make it through and Tsonga gets Milos - interesting
Hope Andy isn't on until wednesday, leaving him enough time to recover from the back niggles of this week. Back spam ????

I won my third Asian tournament in three weeks here in Shanghai last year. As a team we really like this city, it’s got a great buzz with some fantastic restaurants and the tournament has always been run so well.The fans are great too. Hopefully I’ll be able to play well here again in 2012.

I know I keep harping back to some post in the summer which quoted an astrologer saying Federer's stars were good til the summer and then tail off, whilst Andy's were on the up from the summer and would continue that way til the end of the year; my confidence dented by Tokyo but can't resist a bit of star-gazing so fingers crossed - Good luck Andy! - keep well.
The same astrologer has predicted a win at the Aussie Open and Wimbledon for Andy next year, Clancy. Let's hope he's right!!!!
Missed the whole of Tokyo as I was away on hols with no wifi or 3G or even mobile signal! So couldn't even check scores!! Oh the joys of a sleepy Devon village!
Back at work now but plan to record Shanghai during the day and catch up in the evenings. Go Andy!!

Berdych is though to the Semi-Final tomorrow; an Ace on match point sealed his win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6'3, 7'6(4). He'll play the winner of Djokovic v Haas.
So, it's time for Andy - well, after the warm-up.
Andy v Fed n.b. 8pm tomorrow - I think that's 1pm UK which is great for me, as I'm out all morning but should be back soon after the start of the match. Just hope Andy's cold is better by tomorrow!
Playing 9 holes of golf in the morning at 10am (if the course isn't waterlogged.....again :grrr:) so will have to record this just in case. By the time we finish and have a natter.......
