All is quiet on the Basle front. Is Andy still down to play ??? - had a feeling he may withdraw from this one

I just read that T. Haas won his 500th match and he Fed Rafa and Hewitt are the only active players who have done that.
Was looking at Andy's career match record just now to see how many he had - 376, but realised that his match record is currently listed as 376-120 i.e. 496 matches. So...
Do the stats experts agree and should we have a little celebration when he gets to 500 competitive matches?

And if we cannot sleep, perhaps we could decided how many of those we have live scored or watched :)

Neil Harman just tweeted that it's unlikely Andy will play Basel.

Is this news confirmed or merely speculation on Neil's part?

Whilst in the one sense I'd love to see Andy beating Fed in Basle, more important Andy does well in Paris and London and wonder if it's advisable to play 3 weeks in a row.

Back problems being cited as the reason for the withdrawal, third time lucky next year. ;)

I wonder if Andy will attend the reception on Tuesday at Buckingham Palace for all GB Olympic and Paralympic medallists.

Good move Andy,

Shame he's not exactly building great relations with this tournament, after what happened last year, and it would have been nice for him to hammer Roger in his own backyard....can you imagine that!?

But this should see him fit for Paris and London. I fancy him to win at least one now. :)

Roger won't mind him not being there. Copuld never live down being beaten in his own back yard

Alis

Not surprising - do you think he will play Paris?

Thread now moved to Tour Tennis since Andy is no longer participating in this event.

Pleased that Andy has withdrawn although I will miss seeing him play again this week. To be fully fit for the last 2 tournaments of the year is more important and I have a feeling he will do very well in London ;)

So Andy's withdrawn from Basle again.

Does anyone know how many times he has withdrawn from this?

Not sure if he should even put himself on the entry list for this anymore, especially given the scheduling at this time of the year. He hasn't played there since 2005.

JAMES4578

Sure it's only twice, though 2 years in succession. Previously Andy played Valencia.

I see Stan went all Stanford on us all today against Kolya Davydenko. lost 7-6 7-6.

Wonder why Kolya decided we wanted to win that one - what's the prize money for this tournament again?

Does anyone round here like Grigor Dimi? Only saw 1 point from his match against Troiki today - but it was a nice one. Easier to catch the replay in the clip below:

I never usually want Fed to win but I was hoping he would today just so that Delpo wouldn't have a huge confidence boost before the WTA. Somewhat abstruse I know but I would really rather Delpo didn't get ideas above his station!

Certainly was a good win For Del Potro after 7 successive defeats to Fed, really thought Roger would take it when it went to a 3rd. Hope Juan isn't too hot if he's in Andy's section though.

So nice to see Danny Nestor win the dubs with his former partner Nenad Zim. He hasn't won anything since the French Open, I believe, so this is really good - his 80th title and now he's the fourth highest behind the Bryans and Todd Woodbridge.

Presumably you mean WTF - otherwise there might be some questions!

Liking the use of the word abstruse btw.

Delpo is in the Paris draw. If he makes inroads into that then he may not have anything left in the tank for London - that would be 4 tournaments in 4 straight weeks (he won Vienna last week). He'd be wise to lose early - which might counter the momentum from his 2 tournament wins anyway.
