I know it's not the right topic, but I don't know where to post. There are already advertisings for BNP Paribas Masters Bercy, and there is one poster where Andy is in^^ (He's with Nole and Gaël!) The posters are funny! You can see those posters on FB, the officiel page of Bercy! At the beginning, I didn't know, so I took a picture in underground at one stop, like a dumb =P

Oh thanks Sallydaisy =)
Now, I can post all posters and I'm on topic^^

This is what I took in inderground. (Nole, Andy and Gaël). I was so happy to see Andy in poster, for the first time (I think), so I get off to take picture, quietly... And like a dumb^^
I'm going to post the others with links, because it's big ;)
http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg824/scaled.php?server=824&filename=poster5e.jpg&res=landing
Jo, Rafa, Roger, Nole and Gaël.

Jo, Nole and Gilles.

Indoorground. Air Guitar's style (for Nole, Jo and Gaël) and more classic pose (for Rafa, Andy, Roger and Gilles^^) You can notice that in every poster, there is Nole.
What do you think?
P.S: I hope Andy'll play Double, like last year, it was great =)

Who'll be at Bercy? And when? (Or only for Masters Cup?^^)
Is Rafa definitely going to play do you know, or is he hoping to play but we're not sure if he'll pull out at the last minute?

Rafa won't play, his season is done. He is aiming to be back for the start of 2013.

He's not playing here Paul and obviously Rafa's qualified for the WTF some time ago. However, the consensus seems to be that odds against it (not played since Wimbledon and not one of his favourite surfaces anyway) but shall make his return next year. Unlikely to play again this year according to this article (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/tennis/rafaelnadal/9598071/Rafael-Nadal-admits-return-from-injury-in-2012-is-unlikely.html)

How is this going to run ? The ATP finals at the O2 usually start on a sunday but Paris is due to have its final on Sunday?
Have the ATP finals been put back to start on Monday ? Phew - bit close isn't it ?

Good luck ;) I hope you'll see him!
I'll be at Bercy Tuesday and Wednesday (all day), I always choose 1st round or 2nd round to get more opportunity too watch Top players or my favourite players in action, because Bercy hasn't got the best scheduling in the season^^
It wouldn't surprise me if Andy withdrew from Paris to concentrate his reserves of energy on the WTF. To schedule these two events back to back is lunacy IMO - certainly as far as the top 10 players are concerned. It wouldn't be surprising to see a number of the top players going out early which would grossly devalue the event. Paris has always been one of my favourite Masters events - it deserves better scheduling.
JAMES4578
21-10-2012, 13:49
Agree that the scheduling is far from idea, however the ATP is considering moving the event to February from 2014. In such a scenario it probably wouldn't be played next year.

I wouldn't be surprised as well^^ As I said, most of the time an outsider wins Bercy ;) It's funny how every year they show Rafa on posters, but every year he withdraws (sounds like a misleading advertisings) xD French audience is pretty desappointed, but It's life... ;)
I hope Andy'll recover in time for Bercy ;)
Last year, I was surprised, Andy played Single and Double, It was good^^
Andy can only pull out of Bercy if he is injured it is one of the tournaments he must play in, and can be a good build up to the WTF, he will want to go past the quarters where he went out last year. If he were to win this then his confidence would be high, nothing like winning to lead to other wins.
...................... but according to Andy he is injured - it could well be that he won't recover in time for Bercy which is the following week.

We can say "yes" and "no" at the same time ;) He's already withdrawn for one tournament because of an injury before, but has played the next one (immediately), we don't know^^ Wait and see...
Never be lucky at Bercy xD
First up Rafa, 2nd maybe Andy, then? Nole and Roger?^^ Last year, I heard organizers almost forced Nole to come? I don't know...
Anyway, I'll be at Bercy for Marin Čilić as well ;)

I seem to remember that the players agreed to bring the ATP world tour finals forward by a week to give them a bit of extra rest time at the end of the season.
At the time I was surprised and looking at it now I think its crazy. Roll-on 2014 if the changes happen
david1610

This is a bit of a conundrum for Andy as I am sure part of him would like to get one Masters in 2012, but I am sure he also wants to send a marker for next year by winning the O2 and winning the next big thing of the year after the GSs and the Olympics.
I doubt he will pull out but I suspect he might "see how it goes" and if he gets to the SFs without breaking much sweat, give it a go. In other words, we should not read too much in to one or two ropey matches in Bercy in terms of the following week.
But definitely tricky - a bit like back-to-back Masters and then some, really!

Is it the reoccurring back issue again?
Live: Andy will face the winner of Paul Henri Mathieu Vs Qualifier! In 3rd Round, Marin Čilić!
- 1st Round: Fernando Verdasco Vs Sam Querrey, the winner will face Nole, possible 3rd Round --> Nole Vs Milos.
- 1st Round: Marcos Baghdatis Vs Gilles Simon, the winner will face Roger Federer, possible 3rd Round --> Fed Vs Kei Noshikori
- 1st Round: Klizan Vs Seppi, the winner will face Berdych, possible 3rd Round --> Gasquet Vs Berdych.

The draw is up in the first post - Andy's in Federer's half.

Novak has a very bad quarter. Good luck Andy :trophy:

Certainly would be good to see JWT have a good run here, some highlights this year but also a few setbacks. Obviously I'm hoping Andy has a really good tournament and he does have a reasonable draw, as others have said Nole is in the toughest section but obviously he's been in form recently.

Slightly off topic, but anybody got any idea who Stefanski is going to coach now Roddick has retired. Correct me if I am wrong, but seems to be the top "playerless" coach at the moment.
(PS The thought was linked to talk of JWT and the fact he just appointed a new coach...)
Flemchins are scheduled to play Isner/Querrey tomorrow on Court 1.

I thought I'd heard that too but I've just trawled the net and I can't find a mention of it anywhere.
Federer withdraws from Paris.
@svenja_sportch: Federer not going to Paris: "It's too much for me". He needs time to prepare for WTF
What does that do to Andy's draw? Does he now get Fed's draw or does the new seed get Fed's draw?
As the draws been made I assume Federer's place goes to a lucky loser and looking at the qualy results I think that is Hanescu. Djokovic is now guaranteed year end #1.
JAMES4578

Can't take anything for granted of course but it does make things easier for Andy if he reaches the semis. Fed obviously wants to maximise his chances at the WTF.
Does it though? It makes it more likely that Andy will play Berdych in the semi - I think I'd rather he played Fed.

Ridiculous that he will be fresh and the others tired for the WTF - soooooooooo hope he doesn't win after this
Flemchins are scheduled to play Isner/Querrey tomorrow on Court 1.
Scheduled on Court 2, no?^^
I'm not even surprised by Roger's withdrawal, every year, it's quite the same storyline at Paris, people (Parisians) have to prepare themself for this situation considering how long it has been lasted (except some years) + bad scheduling, thankfully I'm not going to Bercy for Rafa and Roger, but for Andy, Novak and Marin^^ (finger crossed!) But, I do understand some disappointment... Most of time, never buy beyond the Round of 16 at Bercy to watch Top 4!
Anyway, still have Andy and Nole ^^

I'd actually prefer Andy in Fed's group. Just in case he plays really well. Then Andy could beat Novak in the semis and still win the tournament or at least get to the final for the first time.
Anyway, I hope he does somewhat well in Paris.

I think Kei N can take out Berdy.
Whilst Berdy has been tricky for Murray, Andy has won two of their last three matches and it's maybe a better match up for him now. Of course Thomas can be inconsistent and it's possible that Kei or Gasquet could upset him.
Fed withdraws ...... Kinda makes a mockery of the masters tournaments being "compulsory" doesn't it?!
I won't get to see any of Paris until the weekend as I'm out to the theatre tomorrow night then away at a conference with work for the rest of the week.
I will take to twitter when possible while I'm away and if someone could update me when Andy's playing I would be really grateful x

Fed withdraws ...... Kinda makes a mockery of the masters tournaments being "compulsory" doesn't it?!
Fed gets some exemptions without penalty from Masters events on account of:-
- playing more than 600 matches on the ATP tour
- being over 30 (or 31?)
- can't remember the other criteria.
So, he isn't obliged to play Monte Carlo (non-compulsory now anyway) and can currently opt out of at least 2 other Masters at the moment based on his commitment and length of service to the tour. Ljubicic and Roddick both attained some of those privileges.

Phew that was close
I have forgotten do they have to get to the Final to stand any chance of a place at the O2
I think they can only be 2nd Alt now, unless one of the other teams withdraws. They're over 1000 points behind BhuBop in this morning's rankings. :crying:
BhuBop and the Poles are competing for the last place, as Marray/Nielsen get in because of Wimbledon.

Djokovic isn't well apparently as reported by L'Equipe:
Carole Bouchard @carole_bouchard (https://twitter.com/carole_bouchard) Worries around Djokovic in Bercy.
Sick today, threw up before his morning training, didn't train this evening :

Well done Ross and Colin. Let's see a great Gb end of year. Must say I do feel Andy does better with a tougher draw but this may be his chance to get a good tournie under his belt and shine at the O2
Thanks Sallydaisy for the news!
It's written that Nole has vomited before his training with Richard Gasquet, and he had to train this evening, but he hasn't shown himself. Serbian medias said that his dad is in hospital for some back pain (this weekend), Nole left Paris to see him, but now he may be back.
I hope his dad has recovered...
Anyway, I notice that Andy is the only one from Big 4 who has never retired from Bercy^^ Besides, he is fresh this time and he has cut his hair^^
Congratulation to Ross and Colin!!!
Today in Autograph Sessions, there were: Stan, Milos and Richard (referring to pictures)! Autograph sessions are until Thursday!
YES!!! Marin'll be on Court n°1 tomorrow! He has to win, i'll be there!!!

Hopefully Nole will be ok to compete here, Andy seems fine as far as we know!
Maybe this will herald a strategic withdrawal from Nole! Barry Cowan was at it again in commentary today. Annabel Croft picked up on Andy saying that he hadn't been well during the Asian swing and asked Cowan if he thought that's why Andy lost in Shanghai to which Cowan replied that he didn't think Andy had looked off colour at all. He did throw in some pretty complimentary stuff too but he can't resist getting a little barb in somewhere!

Arg... Marin lost to world n° 69 :'( -_-' It was "Qualifiers' day" today with Dimitrov, Jerzy and Sijsling! I wanted to kill people that waved serbian flag in front of Marin, they did it on purpose, VERY CHILDISH!
Fernando retired today (he was completely mistaken!), Dolgo as well...
Matchs on Centre Court and Court n°1 have finished pretty quickly, that's why they moved Paire/Nishikori match on Centre Court at 5 PM. Before this match, we saw Andy's interview on screen, it was funny^^ Maybe you've already watched it =)

Thanks. Did not know Rusty was named after Lleyton Hewitt!
Once Rog knew he couldn't get the year end no.1, there was no point in his playing here. Now Nole is guaranteed it, there isn't any point in his playing either - so why is he? Looks like a well rested Rog will be winning the WTF yet again

I think losing to del Potro, rather than one of the other top four, last week must have had something to do with it.
On the other hand, if you look at the number of matches he has played on the ATP circuit, I do respect the fact that players like him and Roddick and Ljub... get the chance to do this. When Andy and Nole are 30, hopefully still playing well and all guns firing, I would expect them to be even more strategic in their pacing of their years.
I think Roger has to finish his season on a high otherwise even more doubts will creep in for next year. Nole has not had the stellar year he had in 2011 but is clearly a great player. Andy has broken through with his first slam. Rafa is Rafa and the knees will determine what he does as much as other players. So might also be as much psychological as physical.

My thoughts exactly Jeannie! I got to the stage where I wondered just how much more help Djoko could give Sam without it looking even more obvious - even then Sam almost conspired to lose it!
well i hope Andy gives this his best shot , if he plays well , this masters could be his for the taking now.

i couldn't watch the game, but would like to hear more about it. it occurred to me too that nole might like to follow federer and keep himself fresh for next week. fedX has more to llose next week of course, and andy needs to play this week for match fitness.

I don't why there is so much surprise that Nole went out ...
Papa Djokovic was admitted to hospital (acute respiratory syndrome) over the weekend and on Monday Noley flew from Paris to Serbia to visit him. He got back yesterday but on top of all that Novak had been physically sick whilst practising on court so he's clearly not 100%.
This was posted on his official website on Monday 27th:
I’m really sorry guys. I am not feeling well today and unfortunately I have to take a little break today and postpone the #Nole4Ulive gathering. I am so sorry as I was really excited to have our little show tonight and get to know you better, but please don’t be disappointed as I will try my best to meet you all in the next few days. I will let you know ASAP. Hope you understand!
This was posted by Carole Bouchard in L'Equipe:
As to Federer ... he may not want to admit it but he probably does find it harder physically to play week in, week out, so who can blame him for taking advantage of an ATP Rule which was set up to allow the 'older but committed guys' the chance to tailor their schedules? No doubt losing his chance to end the year as #1 came into it too but there you go.

I said to Hubby after Nole lost the 2nd set that he (Nole) had nothing to gain by winning the match my Hubby called my cynical, but Nole was going to end the year as No 1 whatever the outcome in Paris so it was no surprise that he lost the match and get to London in plenty of time to get used to the courts at the O2,

Phew! Milos just managed to squeak by Chardy 6-7-7-6 6-3. I really thought Chardy would win coz he served well and played a very smart game.
I've finally got a picture with Marin after his Double on court n°2 (This court is my lucky court, Andy last year, Marin this year^^) It's not a surprise for me to see Nole lose today... Bercy and Top 4, anyway, you know what^^ However, I saw Nole play on live today, for the first time! I saw the end of Nicolas Almagro/Albert Ramos' match, I wanted them to end it quickly, to watch Delpo's entrance, then not to miss Andy's entrance on Centre Court, but I knew in advance that Almagro would take so long!!!! Besides, at the end of the match, some people wanted to get Almagro's autograph, but he snubbed them o_O I didn't like him, now it's confirmed xD I'll head toward players only if it's Marin, Andy, Nole... Then it depends...
Today, autograph sessions: Kei, Jerzy and Ferru...
Nearly all Centre Court was cheering for PHM =( (ok, It's normal, we're in Paris, but even the same in 2008) Why at Paris, we don't like much Andy? I don't understand! Nole got fully support, even when he lost! I don't understand, we don't have Big 4 now, except Andy, they don't want to watch show??? Andy was a cutie! After his victory, he signed, he posed with people (pictures), he shoots the ball to audience, he gives his towel and his 2 armbands... Only lacked his shirt xD
And Andy was the only one who never retired here! He's the STAR of Bercy^^ When he won, I thought about the person who'll be able to watch him tomorrow (made it!!!^^) Enjoy him ;)

So glad you saw Andy play today - you're very lucky!!!
I've been to Bercy many times and love the way you can get so close to players on Courts 1 & 2.
Some of the facilities are a bit sparse and I didn't like the food they offer - too many baguettes!
But the tennis is great and so close to us in the UK.

Yeah Court 1 and 2 are the Best! You can get close to Big 4 only when they played in Double (normal!) Centre Court, impossible^^ You can get close to players by autograph sessions (If there is a player that you like^^).
What do you mean by "close to us in the UK"? Same style or same organization?
I hope Andy will win, but too dangerous for London? He's really the only one that take it seriously every year... I know that when he lost at Bercy before Quarters, it's real (because he's tired) and not by "bad faith", he deserves! Even one of my friends who doesn't like Andy much says it (and she loves Rafa!), she defends Andy and bashes Rafa, Nole and Fed.
Come on Andy, beat Jerzy (he seems nice, I ate my sandwich in front of his session) to revenge Marin please^^

I've been a few times and have found places to eat near where I stay so sometimes I'd have a good petit-dejeuner or buy fruit and other nice things off the markets to take into the tennis. Also, if I was at Bercy early (for 11am match starts) I used to go 'out' later in the day for an hour or so to the brasseries nearby (got hand stamped so I could go back in) and that was much better. It depends on the matches being played doesn't it???
The early part of the week is best to see players everywhere!
What do you mean by "close to us in the UK"? Same style or same organization?
I mean that it is very close in distance to the UK so it is easy for us to visit Paris and the tennis. I have been by train (Eurostar) and Channel Tunnel and sometimes by air (because I live close to Heathrow).
I prefer the trains ... can take more luggage! There is so much time wasted at airports and the SNCF ticket office at Charles de Gaulle is slow. For some reason the machines for tickets rarely work!!! The downside of using train/Metro is lifting luggage up and down stairs but people are usually helpful if they see someone struggling.
Neil Harman @NeilHarmanTimes Kei Nishikori has retired from the tournament with an ankle injury. A walkover for Gilles Simon, into the quarter finals
This is where I start slipping down in the Bracket. I'd already lost one of my quarterfinalists (Isner), as well as Nole who nearly everybody had; now Nishikori's gone, and I'm still waiting for my really risky pick, Wawrinka to beat Ferrer then Tsonga!

Really sorry that Anderson didn't manage to seal the win against Berdych but I'm hoping that Simon can do it in the quarters - at least he'll have the crowd behind him.
Meanwhile, Jonny Marray (and partner) have taken the first set off the Bryans!
Marray & Hanley beat the Bryans 6-4 6-7 10-5:yahoo:
Taking nothing away from Marray and Hanley but I wonder if the Bryans really want to be here until the weekend?

Wow! Great result! This should give Marray confidence going into next week.
I really love how well attended this tournament is and how enthusiastic the crowds are.
Sorry that Nishikori had to retire and that Anderson lost to Simon.
Very well done Jonny and Paul - fantastic result. Probably tho the Bryans are concerned about events back home.

Michael Llodra has just beaten Juan Martin Del Potro 6'4, 5'3.
I wonder if Andy saved 'Fran' a seat on Eurostar this evening?
Sorry that Nishikori had to retire and that Anderson lost to Simon.
Anderson lost to Berdych ... it was Simon who got the walkover into the QF's after Kei withdrew.
Wow, the top seeds are flying out to London in seems!

Just a tad!
It's a joke ahah, April fool is in April, not in November^^ Can't believe Delpo lost to Mika, and in straight set LOL London's calling xD As I said, never buy your ticket beyond Round of 16, I know Bercy by heart^^ 1st/2nd Round are the best ;) Compare others Masters 1 000 with Bercy, you'll be afraid of Big 4 stats^^
Anyway, Andy and Delpo will be fresh as well

Querrey takes the first set 6'3.
Nole, Andy, Delpo and the Bryan Bros all going out just confirms my view that none of the big boys want to be here for the weekend. The ATP really will have to look at the timing of this tournie or it will become a farce. Having said that it will be nice to have a new Masters winner. Llodra or Ferrer for me - although I wouldn't object to Simon either. I think Tsonga might bail as soon as he's done enough to qualify for London. The one person I really don't want to win is Berdych although it might spoil his chances for next week!

I'd like to see Tsonga or Llodra win just coz they're both French.
Me too but I doubt that Tsonga will want to stay around long enough to win it. It would be wonderful for Llodra to win his first Masters on his home patch before retiring. The crowd would go ballistic!

So one of the commies said today - next year I think - at least from singles.

You have taken the words right out of my mouth Alis, I think the ATP have to think long and hard about scheduling the Masters back to back with the World Tour Finals, it is too much of a coincidence that all the top players have lost early in Paris.
Lodra has announced that he is going to retire sometime next year, I always remember the match with Andy at RG this year classic
Today, autograph sessions: Gilles Simon (according to pictures) he got a walkover, so he got time xD, who knows who are the other 2??

Big points for @jonnymarray in Paris as he & Hanley back up their win against the Bryans by reaching the SF with a win v ouanna & Renavand
Would really like Ferrer to win this as well.
I love PseudoRafa's comment:
Not Rafa Nadal @PseudoRafa I don't understand. Davìd is n.5 in the world, no? Why is he playing a challenger?
Somebody asked somewhere what Jerzy would have to do to be seeded at the Aus Open. Without looking closely at points to come off, he's currently on 682 points and Baggy in 32nd ranking has 1150.
Therefore the 360 points he's got so far this week are not quite enough - we need him to win today and get 600 points. Otherwise he could be a very dangerous floater at the Australian.
If anyone deserves it, it's little Daveed all the way for me!
Marin/Marcelo lost their Double =(
Allez Gillou! I hope he can defeat Jerzy to revenge Marin and Andy^^ I want to see Gillou and Ferru in Final, with Gillou's victory (if possible...)

The BeanPole is now through to the final, having beaten Simon in straight sets.
I'm amazed where this run of form has come from. Apart from winning 2 rounds at Wimbledon and winning 3 Challengers, one QF in an ATP250, he has done nothing this year - losses in Challengers and in Qualifying, mostly. He has kept it up all tournament too, with big wins all through. Can he continue to keep it up, though, or has he just hit a purple patch that won't last? It will be interesting to see how he does next year.
