Andy's on double-duty tomorrow with both Singles and Doubles Quarter-Finals to play.
He and Jamie are up against the top seeds Paes/Stepanek who've worked so well together as a team this year that they've made it to the WTF (4th in the Race).
So, this is going to be an especially tough match for the Murray brothers.
But to defend their title they must win it - or Jamie's ranking will really suffer.
They'll play on Friday but the OOP isn't out yet; matches are still in progress in Tokyo.
The schedulers will have a bit of a headache with it though.
In theory Andy v Stan ought to be played 1st or 2nd (11.00 local, 03.00 UK) so that Andy has time to recover properly before playing again. But since they play night matches on the Centre Court (lights and roof if needed) he'd be THE key match for TV and spectators. That'd mean playing doubles first thing ...
Watch this space.

Presumably from the post-match presser ...
Barry Flatman @Barry_FlatmanST (https://twitter.com/Barry_FlatmanST) Andy Murray: “Yes, Jonny Marray would be a good regular doubles partner for my brother Jamie.
” Should we start a campaign?
Just a reminder that they did pair up for a while and notched up some wins but then parted company - it's ever thus with Jamie.
Best of luck to Jamie and Andy:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::)
The Best of luck Andy & Jamie!!!:thumbup:
Anyone seen any word re a start time?

Anyone seen any word re a start time?
None. They don't usually announce one if a player needs 'suitable' rest as Andy does.
Sometimes it's an hour and sometimes less (Andy has been known to be back out on court 45mins later) if the player concerned doesn't want to 'cool down' too much.
But it's now 90mins so I wonder if they'll give a w/over???
Just that Andy was clutching his back a couple of times (just match niggles probably) and might be either (a) having longer bout of treatment to help or (b) have decided to concentrate on the singles.
Or (c) it might be raining in Tokyo and they've got to wait for Centre court ?
(but the sun was shining for Andy's match)
I'm surprised the Twits haven't said something by now.
With this match being the only one scheduled for Court 1 today there is no real hurry. Andy will probably want to take as long a rest as he can.
I'm needing back to my bed though!

It's only 6pm in Tokyo so I guess if Andy doesn't play for another 30mins or so he'll still have time to get the match done and go out for more sushi.
Hope he doesn't overdo it though ... He'll have an early start tomorrow to prep for Milos.
I have to go out so good luck Jamie and Andy!!!
:swingin:
Beat me to it Jane!!
LOL that will be 15-0 to me then!!!
Andy or Jamie served first....1-0

DF for MUR ....... but won the next for 30 all.
Must go .....
mur1 held serve after 15-40, DD, second serve
is this the new pattern, lose firstt set, storm thro in tb10?
mur2 holding after another DD, oppos now at 4-3
and hold for 5-3
mur1 now, df, 15-30, 2s, 30-30, 40-30, game
really piling the pressure on, oppos to serve for it at 5-4
I'm concentrating on tea and toast and watching Nishi and Berdy on tv, as well as watching LS. My poor old brain is feeling a bit frazzled - no wonder I feel dizzy!! Got to take some betahistine now.
Paes and Steppy to serve for the first set, 5-4.
And there goes the set. Looks fair enough according to the stats.
nae bother, held to love
so the plucky scots are a set down, serving first in the second
will mur1 serve first or mur 2?
Squeaked a hold in the first game of set 2, saved 2 break points.
P & S are rattling through their service games with nary a hitch.
both murs have held serve, either cd be mur2, the dropski mur
Both teams hold again, now 3-2
first ace for the murs, on the DD point! hold to make oppos serve at 2-3
things hotting up, ace stepy easy hold murs, oppos now at 3-4,
2 break points for our boys in game 8...
And they take it!
Now serving for the second set.
oh golly gosh, KITKAT, a game to soon, will have to serve for the set.
Well done, guys :clap::clap: - now for the dreaded ctb
Game and second set Murrays, 6-3, now for the dreaded CTB.
nae bother, tb10 here we come
where is sallydaisy???

1-1, 2s, 2-1 - mb down!
3-1, 4-1
5-1, second mb down, alas, 6-1, 3rd mb down
7-1, (when does the fight back start?) 8-1
8-2, 9-2, 4th mb down!
paes/stepanek win 6-4, 3-6, 10-2
bad for jamie, will lose lots of points
So sad they lost especially for Jamie!!
Gutted for Andy and Jamie. Jamie will lose lots of points. :(
Anyway, I'm proud of the way they fought. They saved lots of break points and won a set when they were put under pressure in each game.
If I'm honest, I'm not sorry that they've gone out of the doubles. Andy has a very heavy schedule in the next few weeks and needs to conserve his energy. I'm sorry for Jamie but IMO he really needs to find himself a regular partner so that he doesn't have to rely on Andy to boost his points tally.

What a shame.....hard luck boys after great fight back to level. Sad for Jamie also.:sad:
neither mur cd buy a first serve in the tiebreak. paes/stepanek just better than them. should have been more even, both teams had a dubs specialist and a singles player, ah well, etc
hi alis, you're so right, jamie needs a regular partner, but he isn't good enough to attract someone better than himself and loses in first round so often his record is getting pretty poor.

Surely that's a bit simplistic. Paes and Stepanek play regularly together and are currently Number 4 in the Doubles race. Contrast that with the number of times Andy and Jamie have played together this year.
Also, Andy's just played a well-fought match against Stan this morning; whilst Jamie has seemed generally low on confidence for ages.

Disappointing it went away from them in he end after the fightback, but it was going to be a tough ask.
sad for Jamie especially, but glad Andy can concentrate on the singles now.

Jamies just cant seem to settle with a regular partner. He finds a combination, it looks promising then breaks, usually because of lack of results.
Andy does enjoy playing with Jamie but maybe that's for the future. He certainly cant be relied upon to keep Jamie's points tally up at the moment

While you can understand Jamie strategically using Andy for certain tournaments, he really needs to think hard about getting a relatively permanent doubles partner. I know there is a lot of coming and going but it surely makes sense. Not sure the teaming up with Max helped as Jamies was probably still a bit inexperienced at the time for somebody of Max's experience and ex-singles pedigree. Oh well, hope it can click with somebody
PS Interesting that ex-partner Booty (Eric Bouterac) is the Vice President of the ATP Player's Council (Fed Ex being the President). Shows a lot of maturity and interest in tennis and not just his tennis, methinks. And not bad to be ranked #3 for your country if you share nationality with the Bryan brothers :)
