Disappointing as though wasn't counting on it thought Laura had a chance if she played well and Haddad Maia not known to be that comfortable on grass, however wasn't great performance though the Brazilian served well for the most part.

Interesting that two good friends of Robson's will contest the US Open Final, both of whom have recovered from injuries. I wonder if this can have any kind of positive impact on her.

I certainly hope it does. Hopefully, Delpo's success will be inspirational too - especially as he has gone through similar surgery to Laura.

Hopefully Laura can take some inspiration though her injuries a while ago now and confidence has been one of the biggest factors holding her back.
Laura was at the concert where the shootings took place in Las Vegas last night.

What a frightening experience for Laura.
Saw on the BBC text that Laura was at that concert in Las Vegas - she is OK, but in shock. I'm afraid it will stay with her for a long time and may have lasting effects. I wish her all the best.

Sounds a positive step. Good second serve, no injury problems and some confidence and... who knows? Not much to ask for, surely? ;)
I see that Laura is playing doubles at the AO with everyone's favourite Coco Vandeweghe
Laura & Coco lost 6-7, 4-6!

I saw some of their match - Coco seemed to be the weak link.

Suppose it was fairly close, pity Coco letting Laura down somewhat though.

Coco has had flu - maybe she hasn't recovered properly yet.
Perhaps no one provided bananas for coco :P

Laura playing an ITF in Japan - into the final of the doubles but lost QF singles to Harriet Dart. Maybe she should concentrate on doubles?

Does anyone know what's going on with Laura? I always think of her on days like this when we're cheering numerous Brits. You are not forgotten, Laura!

Was just thinking that the other day and checked ITF, unfortunately not much form lately and whilst played 2 events in May seems to be first since Mid March. https://www.itftennis.com/procircuit/players/player/profile.aspx?playerid=100119096 Done a bit of searching and seems she had hip injury, has direct entry into Surbiton qualifying. Sorry seems Laura has now pulled out, most recent information info I've seen on Twitter. https://twitter.com/TheTennisTalker/status/1001430748283498497
Poor girl...I remember watching her win Junior Singles at Wimbledon. Such a talent.
It is a shame, but she's not been making a good showing in the Asian circuit this year, and the rest of our pack have gone past her. I had hoped that she would rise with the rest of the girls her age, but it doesn't seem to be happening, and now with her latest injury, they're all past her by at least 100 places.
Talent is one thing, but having the right mentality, work ethic and staying injury free is totally another.

No. 1 seed with her partners in the doubles
Laura apparently to have hip surgery

Obviously necessary but means Laura has another challenge when she returns to circuit. Had heard earlier she would only have taken qualifying wild card card had it been offered.
This from David Law about Laura (thanks to BT.net!)

BBC have been showing highlights of the last 3 Olympics, it is 2012 this weekend and today seen coverage of Laura winning the silver medal with Andy. Great times, whilst Laura is still only 26 remains to be seen if/when she will return.

Hope for Laura's sake it isn't another false dawn, and that she can stay fit enough to mount a serious attempt on the tennis ladder. She certainly had the game early on.

Pity for Laura, her future in competitive tennis does not look too promising.
I was surprised to find nobody has commented on Laura's announcement, earlier, about her retirement. After her wrist operation and three hip operations, I wasn't surprised: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/61410385
There was comment. Just not on this thread.
Yes, I was surprised too. She has been so unlucky with injuries. I'm sure she has good memories of successful matches, notably the London Olympics with Andy, but could have achieved so much more. I wish her well for the future. x

I loved how she was with Andy  I remember him saying she talked about dragons and wanted matching outfits!
