Just noticed. Murray is in light top, light shorts, black shoes. Djokovic is in dark top, dark shorts, white shoes. Funny.
Yeah, but I'm in a student house, TV doesn't work, got a tv license so atleast I can use iplayer thoughye iplayer is always a good bit behind

Ah shame :(
oh well :grrr: too bad , but a great match
Gutted for Andy. What a match. Novak found the big serves and huge returns at the end when he needed them. Fingers crossed for a Tsonga win now, otherwise we'll have to rely on Novak. I don't think he'd do Andy in like Fed did a few years ago!
Oh well, least he got a set, I'm sure he'll beat Tsonga so semies look promising

Great match. Small margins yet again, the forehand from Djokovic on break point in the second set which landed on the line for example. Great fight from Andy in the 3rd set.
Henman can go do one with his 5 iron. Maybe if he'd shown some frustration he wouldn't be the never really near man.

so tsonga has to win against berdy so we want tsonga to win is that right to keep andy in
cant help but like Djoko , very gracious in victory as well as defeatthink its only the rafa & fed fans who dont like nole, changing of the guard ?
Who do we want to win the Berdych/Tsonga match now?
Aww about Nole having to walk his dog tonight!
so tsonga has to win against berdy so we want tsonga to win is that right to keep andy ini would say the other way round tho if tsonga wins then its in andys own hands but if berdbrain wins least it means nole has to to still take the last match seriously

OMG Fed on court....don't tell me he's receiving another ......award. I feel sick.

Yeah , that was cute he said that , he sure loves his pooch , much like Andy
That could've gone either way - I think the difference was that Djokovic was just a tiny bit more composed mentally...but there was nothing really in it. I'm upset for Andy, but at least it's not the end of his tournament - AND, although I sound like a broken record, I'd much rather he lost this match and won the US Open final!! :)
Take care... :)

Sucks. :crying:
Oh well, revenge in the final on Monday will be all the sweeter!;)
Just trying to get my brain round what needs to happen for Andy to reach a semi.
If Berdych wins tonight
Then
- if Djokovic beats Berdych (10-1 in head to heads), then Andy may still get through even if he loses to Tsonga on Friday (as long as he does better than Berdych and Tsonga in sets/games).
- if Berdych beats Djokovic, then Andy must beat Tsonga on Friday (and do better than either Berdych or Djokovic in sets/games)
If Tsonga wins tonight
Then
- if Djokovic beats Berdych, Andy will go through if he beats Tsonga on Friday.
- if Djokovic loses to Berdych, Andy may go through if he beats Tsonga on Friday (as long as he has more sets/games than Djokovic or Berdych)

Thanks for the explanation, but could that mean that Novak could throw the match against Berdych so that he doesn't have to play Andy again???????????????
would you believe Roger was receiving a Good Sportsman award
Just got home in time to see the last two games - another close one. Let's hope Andy gets his chance to beat Djoko next Monday!

no thats not right either is it lol
I'll just wait and see as long as Andy beats tsonga he would have 2 wins and 1 loss
if djo beats all he will have 3 wins and no losses
and if whoever wins tonight will only have 1 win and 2 losses
that is the scenario I would like hahahahahahahahaha
thats an awful lot of ifs and buts and TBH anything can happen
so back to my first thought i'll just wait and see

Sounds like it was a good match - sorry I missed it
I managed to check progress on my phone a few times while at work - saw Andy was up in the first set, then that he'd won that and I think it was 1-1 in the second set - next time I looked Nole had won the second set and Andy was a break down in the third - then I caught a few updates on the radio as I drove home - sounded like Andy made a real fight of it towards the end, but Nole came through. Not an ideal way to follow a tennis match!
Either way, I think it would be good for Andy if it goes to 3 sets tonight!
Thanks for the explanation, but could that mean that Novak could throw the match against Berdych so that he doesn't have to play Andy again???????????????

If Nole throws it against Berdych there is a chance Nole would not go through. It would probably be an advantage for Andy if Nole played first on Friday.

Got calculator out (gotta love this event..): if Berdych wins both matches in straights & Murray bts Tsonga in straights, then Djokovic out.

Yes - I notice he tones down the triumph when he wins against Andy which I like (the toning down, not the winning :smashed:!!).
Has anyone got a spare set of finger nails I could have please? I would have said "borrow" but that would be a blatent lie! Mine are down to the quick already.
Wish Andy could have stamped his authority on Nole after the US Open and looking ahead to 2013 but I think he's shattered and the important thing is to come out all guns blazing in January and then to be more consistent between then and the clay court season. On that basis the year end won't be quite so crucial.
Remember the 2009 Tour Finals when Federer "gifted" a game to Del Potro having been 40-love which resulted in Andy not making the semi-finals even though he had two wins in the round robin. Sportsmanship Award! my big.........
I can understand Fed getting the 'Fan Favourite' award but the 'Sportsmanship Award' is a joke - is it really voted for by the other players?

Whilst we see some great tennis from Andy, ultimately he just wasn't quite consistent enough. Certainly it was a bright start but there was a blip and as Nole raised his level as expected it became another tussle, even if not their best encounter. The start of the 3rd was unfortunate but to his credit Andy found a way back with some gutsy play. However,he just felt short at the end. Hopefully he now fully focus on overcoming Tsonga in the final round robin match.

Interesting day at the O2, shame Andy didn't manage to keep up his brilliant start but credit to Nole he found a way through. Hard fought battle as always between these two and great to watch. The crowd was a lot noisier today but most of the encouragement came when Andy was dropping behind, rather than keeping him going when he was ahead. Altogether a match worth watching.

I cant imagine how tired they all must be after this brutal season! nole is always really respectful to andy and no backhanded compliments either. oh i was so gutted thought he had him at break point again...maybe andy is best against nole in 5 hour 5 setters now :p...they are pushing eachother to the limit all the time though this is good for when they come up against rafa and fed next year. anyway onwards and upwards
Sucks. :crying:
We gotta keep looking forward. Andy played the world no.1 today. He came closer than most and I believe if he gets another chance.....? (Nice that you guys care as much as me!)

Who do we want to win the Berdych/Tsonga match now?
Correct me if I am wrong but if Tsonga wins, then he and Andy are playing sudden death for the semi final. If Birdy wins Tsonga would have to beat Andy much more convincingly and hope Nole beat Birdy. Correct me if I am wrong, but slightly less pressure on Andy if Birdy wins?
PS And certainly no straight sets win for either!
PPS Thanks earlier J for the scores!
Yup, I think is probably less pressure for Andy if Berdy beats Nole, but there would still be some pressure. For example if Berdy beats Nole on Friday it would be worse for Andy if Berdy beats Tsonga.

^ Doesn't make a difference whether or not it's straight sets if Tsonga wins. Because in that scenario whoever wins the last encounter qualifies. Which would at least put things into Andy's hands. If Berdych beats Tsonga, we could have another 2009 fiasco.

I was there today and I must say it was a pleasure and a priviledge to be there and experience the match.
Two exponents of their game, they played a much more varied, skilful and interesting match than any other I saw over the 2 days I was there.
Andy did himself proud, can hold his head up - just 5 points in it and he was up against a Novak who - in the second set found another gear and threw everything at him. Andy held his own, responded but just couldn't hold it at the end.
The O2 crowd gave him great support but were also appreciative of Novak. The atmostphere was electric
As I say - I felt priviledged to be there.
Just praying that these two go through to the semis and one of them takes out Fed

If that happens, they'd better put Andy on in the evening, or else.... Let's hope the BBC don't undermine that! :sofa:

Which 'one' were you referring to?
Btw, Andy, sorry you lost your match, better luck next time. I couldn't watch it, it's too late for me and I have to get up for work early. Pity.

Sorry AA - I should have been clearer. Frankly I dont care which one of them defeats the goat - but it looks like it could well be Andy who meets him in the semis so - Andy is the Man for the job
