This British Challenger is played indoors at the Dan Maskell Tennis Centre which is part of the University of Loughborough campus. There are lots of British players in action including Jamie Baker, Josh Goodall and others so if you live locally it'd be worth going along to watch - free entrance. It's a combined ATP/WTA event so there are plenty of British girls to watch too.
Jamie Murray partners Josh Goodall here. Not sure how that will work out tbh!!!
Top seeds in the doubles are British pair Jamie Delgado and Ken Skupski.

Hi I am at the Loughborough Tournament today. I think Sallydaisy , moderator gave the http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2012/6206/op.pdf showing order of play. Can I post links here ? Its not strictly a link I suppose. Anyhow I am going over there by 1 pm today. If you want to meet up and know Morris the friendly guy who knows the British players I will be with him. I will be there all the days. Partly I will be doing my day job 'in between watching the points' with a mobile and book I am researching. Morris slipped out he was 70 years of age yesterday too me- so you might know him. Blokes don't mind age statements luckily. I hope I have not missed the Jamie Murray / Josh Goodall match yet. I perfectly understand its hard to update PDF's all the time. Its might first tournament I've been too. I was watching on sky for other tournaments but it is expensive. I just use eurosport player these days. Most WTA but still good. Hope to be at the Nottingham tennis centre next year as the Loughborough Uni one is the last year Morris seemed to say. Perhaps the women ITF tour will remain there I am not sure - hopefully. Love Tennis on Eurosport if I didn't mention that -recommended. My name is David.

I got the information from the LTA website rather than the ATP as this is an Aegon sponsored event.

Higher everyone its nice to see you are all such a friendly bunch. I wish I had much more time for tennis. Being self employed I seem to have so little time on my hands. I thought FINALLY I'd cracked it being in Loughborough Uni for the ITF . I couldn't believe it I spoke to Jamie Murray and got embarrassed plucking up the courage ! I said to him I had not realised how hard they hit the ball when you watch it live. I was a bit 'star struck' by seeing him & talking. Poor chap he probably just wants us to be normal & not see him that way. Just to add Judy Murray was with Jamie at the same time. This is my first tournament live ever I should mention! I follow Eurosport but cannot afford Sky for TV. Pitty the Guys are not so much on Eurosport - you do get the Grand slams on Eurosport player of course still. I'd love to keep up with things. Perhaps when a tournament or two is on like Nottingham and Birmingham (nearest to Loughborough) where I am , give me a shout ? If you live near me even better as cannot drive. I am in Loughborough centre. I am unaware where the ITF & main ATP , WTA tours are so I should check the LTA website. I thought on my lunch hour I might pop down to the Dan Maskel tennis centre at the Loughborough Uni. They have a website with Tournaments for Mens & Womens 1st , 2nd and 3rd's fixtures. The 1st's are students of the highest quality tennis player at that young level. I bet they give it a fair hitting at that level even close to ITF players but with more unforced errors. Myself ....well I have a back problem so cannot join them or any tennis club. Any way enough about me. Here is a bit more of a report you asked for -
Jamie baker I feel is good and has a strong mental game but went out in the Quarters. Dan Evans has a lot of flare and potentially could go far - his spin on the ball top and side spin and forehand are unbelievable- He struggles with the mental side a bit and gets frustrated but Baker is more level headed and beat him in the last 16. I could not believe how the Ladies hit it at that level - I honestly could not tell the difference hardly. A German Ana BOGDAN & Renata VORACOVA from (Cze) I watched in the semi's today was the best match I'd seen at any level apart from the Mens finals of wimbleon with Raffa & Roger. Am I serious - yes absolutely ! There were about 6 advantages & back to Deuce's in about 10 different Games. As they got more desperate to win even the pro's had not seen anything like it. It took 5 half hours or more to complete the Game - half a day. By the end they HONESTY were hitting it so hard the men would have struggled with it. I rated the game as quick as Petrova Kvitova and that's the fastest hitting lady's tennis player - that's very fast ! Bare in mind I had a comparison from other prior games and the mens I'd seen too. I saw the German Lady who lost and gave her a small pat on the back saying well done , which she really appreciated. She was hardly standing upright but said 'thank you'. The Czeche was No.1 & the German was No.7 who was collapsing to the ground - hence a huge battle. It become an issue of pride in the end not un-like the longest wimbledon game in History with John Isner and Nichols Mahut. I honestly was worried one of them might faint they were literally gasping for oxygen MUCH MORE than a usual game.
Francesca a British player nearly put out the German number 6 ranked - The Brit according to the German coach said she was unseeded at 95- these are ITF rankings. She won 6-4 the first set and took the second set right to the wire and lost 7-6 & in the end lost the last set 6-2. Excellent players though I have to say. That was the Quarters I think. I watched the Brit games where they were playing a non-Brit most of the time. British players playing together I did not know who to support.
Thanks all it was an experience of a life time - my first live tournament. WOW.......
:thanks: HitTennis for the great writeup. Glad you had a good time :):)
Jamie plays in Helsinki next week with Colin Ebelthite (AUS)

Great final in Loughborough too. Not so t quite so nail biting. Veracova was ranked 40 at one point in 2010 according to a chap I sat next too. She beat Kimmelman in the third set but only after Kimm had reached 3-0 in the final set. So a bit tight. Not to bad but Kimm had a ranking of 500 so could not hold her off in the end. She tried so hard though. The mens likewise was a case of the top player being seeded 118 and qualifying for the Aussie open by moving up to the 99th seed. He is to play another two tournaments if you were watching the live feed presentation. The German that lost in the final was ranked 100 places below but again nearly beat the higher seed but with the higher seed prevailing eventually. Thanks all.
