Hi everyone.

The 2 minute 'silence' on 11/11/12 at 11am will be observed both nationally, and world-wide,
as a mark of respect, and in remembrance, for those who gave their lives in defence of their country.

We're once again planning to close the forum for the 2 minutes and re-open at 11.02.
It's a very short interlude in everyone's busy lives but gives us all a chance to reflect.

This year Armistice Day (11th Day of the 11th November) falls on the same day as Remembrance Sunday in the UK so we'll only close the forum once this year. Anyone trying to post or log in during that time will see a message advising them to return after the 2 minutes and will include the "Ode of Remembrance" shown below.

Andy Murray is a supporter (http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/about-us/media-centre/photo-galleries/poppy-appeal)of the 'poppy' campaign organised by The Royal British Legion.

In addition to buying a poppy you can also show your support via social media in 2 ways:-
- add a (http://twibbon.com/support/poppy-appeal-65)Twibbon to your Twitter or Facebook account
- sign up to (https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/547-two-minute-silence) Thunderclap which aims to co-ordinate a 2 minute Twitter and Facebook silence.

For those who live in the Midlands the new National Memorial Arboretum is open all year.

Feel free to post your own thoughts and messages in this thread.

Thank you.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them"

Fabulous we're doing this again to support a very worthwhile cause!

I won't be on here anyway at the appointed time as I will be in church. However I am very glad that the silence will be observed here. I will of course be sporting a poppy.

Good to see us supporting such a worthwhile cause.
I will also be at church and observing the 2 minutes silence.

Of course I will be watching the first semi at 11 a.m. my time. Will have to turn everything off for two minutes. So it's probably a good thing Andy's not playing then.

Hope everywhere the silence was held, I was in church about to take communion but I could hear nothing from streets outside.

I have a friend whose brother is currently fighting in Afghanistan and will be there over Christmas so thought of him today.

We were there. Husband, son, daughter-in-law and grandaughter. Very moving. Mind you St Helens always does it well.
