Hope Andy has a flight booked to Brisbane. He's scheduled to be in Abu Dhabi 27-29 December and main draw play starts here on Sunday 30th. He'll have to hit the ground running (and possibly a bit jet-lagged) when he plays his R1 match.
No wild card announcements yet but it's quite probable that Hewitt will get one.
That's cutting it fine - I take it he doesn't get a bye in a 250.

He doesn't 'cos it's a 32 draw. However, they'll probably play mostly Ladies matches on Sunday 30th with Mens Singles R1 over Mon 31/Tue 1st so hopefully he'll have time to catch his breath and some sleep!

This is a combined WTA/ATP event but it's more difficult getting hold of details for the ladies.

:confused:You say it's a 32 draw, but your entry list gives a 28 draw, which would mean the top 4 get a bye?
The ladies draw looks pretty impressive!

:confused:You say it's a 32 draw, but your entry list gives a 28 draw, which would mean the top 4 get a bye?
I'm a bit puzzled too Jaysee. Last year Brisbane was definitely a 32-draw.
Even the ATP website has the tournament profile down as a 32 not a 28.
http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Tournaments/Brisbane.aspx
But you're right that there's only a 28-player list (including space for 4 Wildcards). That would indicate that they've changed it for this year and made it a 28-draw with Byes for the top 4 seeds.
The place I normally source information from hasn't been updated for 2013.
On the event website the Player List is updated with Hewitt as a Wildcard.
P.S. I checked back several years to see the draw size.
In 2001 Henman beat Rusedski in R1.

Sometimes in these small tournaments they play some 1st round matches on the Wednesday as long as the final is on a Sunday and not a Saturday.

I have no idea why. It's how the entry lists are showing on the usual sources which are taken from the ATP website and/or the tournament sites. Clearly an error but nothing we can do about it.

Does his loss today mean he can get to Brisbane earlier or does he still have obligations that will keep him in Abu Dhabit just as long?
Would be nice if he had a bit of time to adjust.
Hope everyone had a good Christmas! Pleased tennis is winding up again but shame about his loss today. More time to settle in here though hopefully.
Is this being televised anywhere?

The draw is out.
First of all, it IS a 28 draw so Andy has a bye into the second round.
He plays either Tatsuam Ito (last direct acceptance at 66) or a qualifier.
Next would be one of Sepanek, Hewiitt, Istomin or Klizan.
The semi woudl most likely be either Dolgopolov or Nishikori with Benneteau Nieminen Robredo Matosevic and a qualifier in the other eight.
The other half includes Simon, Melzer, Dimitrov and Raonic.
Sorry this is not as pretty as Sally's posts but about to go to bed and realised it is already morning there!
PS Just by way of comparison, Andy is the only top ten player, whereas the WTA event at Brisbane (they take place at the same time) has 8 of the top 10 players in the 28 draw!!!
Happy to see Jamie in the mix...........from @stu_fraser............
Brisbane is where it's at for Scots at start of 2013 season - Andy Murray in singles & Colin Fleming teaming up with Jamie Murray in dubs.
Sallydaisy
29-12-2012, 09:27
The full singles draw has been added to the first post of this thread and is given below.

http://www.brisbaneinternational.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/OP3012.pdf
The Mens Singles Main Draw matches don't start until Monday. So, we won't be seeing Andy play until Tuesday at the earliest in a R2 match and possibly not until Wednesday.
Seemingly not televised - will that also mean no stream?

Apparently Ross picked up an injury while training in La Manga. Nobody seems to know what or how bad.
I thought it was Colin who picked up the injury? He's made several tweets about it:-
Colin Fleming @colin_fleming (https://twitter.com/colin_fleming)
6/12/12: Training in London done now off to Spain tomorrow!! Just a casual 17/18 degrees forecast...beats 1/2 degrees for training in!!
7/12/12: Arrived at @lamangaclub (https://twitter.com/LaMangaClub). Sun is shining so all good! Got to say the golf course looked in good condition... #focus (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23focus&src=hash)
11/12/12: Bad news today - injured my back in practice so training camp over. Heading home tomorrow to get it sorted, hopefully not out for too long!
19/12/12: Recovery going well and planning to get back on court this Friday. Great support as always from Scottish Institute of Sport, thanks guys!
26/12/12: Flying to Doha this evening for start of 2013 season. Not before I've been to Firhill this afternoon tho for the @ThistleTweet (https://twitter.com/ThistleTweet) game! And on 27/12/12: Arrived in Doha. 23'C at 11:30am...lovely!
But there's been no word from Ross on twitter since 30th November so I don't know if maybe he too is injured?
Colin actually did fly to Doha (he and Ross would have been 2nd seeds there I think) but then went on to Brisbane. Jamie Murray only left Scotland on 28th December and hadn't been on any entry lists for the 3 ATP's this week so maybe Ross couldn't make it and Jamie stepped in?

Sloane making a fist of it but Serena looking haughtily confident.

They used to allow full screen view on some of them a couple of years ago but no longer do.
If you use Bet365 sometimes the vid screen is very small and up in the top right of the web page. There's an angled double arrow icon; if you click on that it moves the image more to the centre and makes it about 1.5 times larger. But that's it.
I'm just off to sort out a lsh stream ...
COME ON MUZZAH!!!

Links from Livescorehunter all seem to be showing the Seppi match. Will have to stick with the tiny bet site screen methinks.

My Radio Times and Sky guide show that ESPN are covering the men's tennis in Brisbane. The Sky Guide shows Andy vs Istomin on ESPN live from 6.00 am and repeated at 5.00 pm tomorrow.
ESPN are covering the men's semis live from 3.30 am and repeated at midday on Saturday. They are also covering the men's final live at 4.00 am and repeated at 8.00 am on Sunday.
Those who forked out to pay for ESPN for a month for the Abu Dhabi exhibition will be in luck.

Just having a few minutes looking at Baggy and Simon after finishing work and just before gettng a couple of hours sleep...
Baggy seems to be having a good week and may turn out to be the dark house of the tournament. 6-3 and 4-2 up though Simon had break points on the last service game.
PS Beautiful quality pictures in the stream! Hopefully later on....

[1] Murray v [5] Nishikori
Baghdatis v Dimitrov
Grisha is playing with a lot of fire in his belly this week and beat Jo Melzer 6'3, 6'2 in their QF.
BaggyDaddy seems to be hitting a bit of a purple patch but I think sooner or later the 'youngsters' are going to edge out some of late 20's players. They're 1-1 H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=B837&oId=D875) but Baggy won his by retirement at Wimbledon 2012.

Me too. When I first joined them you paid separately to watch men or women, then they hiked the price and you get both. As I haven't followed women's tennis at all since the days of Steffi Graf it is most annoying.
Maybe, in the future, if Laura and Heather both do really well, I will start watching again, but until then I have to put up with the situation as the only tv coverage I have is the (almost non-existent) BBC.
Yes - tennistv used to just be the men's matches. Although when it first started it was the Masters tournaments only, so they have improved things by showing bits of other tournaments as well.
Sorry if its already been posted but the Brisbane International is one of the few tournaments with a good youtube page full of highlights and interviews: http://www.youtube.com/user/brisbanetennis
Great - I've just watch the highlights from Andy's first match - very entertaining!

It has improved a lot BUT I just don't get why they're not showing Brisbane ATP if they're already showing the WTA. Baffling.
Baggy & Dimitrov still in play & it's one set each & 2-1 to Baggy on serve in the third.........
Can't believe Baggy didn't get the win.......Dimitrov..6-3,5-7,7-6(5)......
Baggy generally plays so well in Aussie, thought he would win.

Not surprisingly Nishikori was unable to play doubles and he with partner Dimitrov, withdrew.
That gave Melo/Robredo a W/O into the Final to play #1seeds Butorac/Hanley.
Nice to see Booty in a Final ...

The Mens Doubles Final is going to a 3rd set BUT that does mean Andy on court around 4.30. Not sure when the do the trophy presentation for the doubles, if it's right after the match then Andy would be on a bit later.

Melo/Robredo win on the CTB!!! 4'6, 6'1, 10'5.
:trophy:
Such a shame for Booty though ...
Time for breakfast - it feels weird to be eating porridge so early.
Then Andytime!!!
Good morning folks - had five hours sleep, and got a cuppa
Good luck, Andy:thumbup::thumbup:
Doubles presentation going on - pity it isn't Jamie and Colin
Nice to see Robredo winning something, after being out for months following surgery last year. (He dropped to 471 in the rankings and I quite thought that he'd retire.)
