Is Andy now the only player not to have dropped a set?
Yes!
Darn it. Fed has broken for a 2-0 lead in the 3rd set.
Those light grey shorts are all very well, but Jo looks like he has wet himself - not a good look:laugh:

7-4* Oh no Jo!
3rd set to Federer as he takes the 3rd set tie-break 7'5(4)
Fed leads 2 sets to 1 - he was very lucky IMHO
Jo can still win this. After all, he came back to win from 0-2 at Wimbledon! Allez Jo! :swingin:

Tsonga doesn't look to be in the mood to give up and, despite that 1-2 set score, he's really challenging Federer and this match is very very close.
As witness the points so far ... 105 Jo, 104 Rog.
Aces: Jo 11, Rog 5
DF's: Jo 1, Rog 3
UE's: Rog 36, Jo 40
Winners: Rog 32, Jo 40
If Jo doesn't tighten up in the 4th set I can see this going to 5.
Sleep well Andy ...
;)
Jo has won more points than Fed

Well done Jo!!!
Fought off a Federer challenge from *0-40 to hold his serve and stay ahead 2-1 in the 4th set.
Tsonga has been playing very bravely throughout the match, really painting the lines, just like he did when he got to the final a few years ago.

I think I'd be quite happy for Fed to win. It's about time Andy got rid of that "never beats him in a slam" epithet.

I don't care who wins - Andy can beat both of them!
I think I'd be quite happy for Fed to win. It's about time Andy got rid of that "never beats him in a slam" epithet.
True enough Madeline. But a replay of the Wimblers semi against Andy, which was so entertaining, would be great. Andy must be loving this - just what he wanted, 5 sets!
Although it's 5 sets I don't think they're wearing each other out too much - there haven't been many very long points.
i hate blokes like tsonga:grrr:
I think Tsonga is lovely. Very entertaining to watch, and he seems like a nice person too.
I love Tsonga. He seems to be one of the nicest guys, and he exudes a joie de vivre. Very entertaining player to watch. Plus he's very easy on the eye, and that accent! Sorry, getting a bit shallow....

Fed has 2 break points on Jo's serve - and takes it to lead *3-1.
Very dangerous. Jo must break back now.
Fed breaks  Jo will have to break straight back again!
Oh no, Fed breaks. Allez Jo, encore une fois.
I am listening to R5Live commentary. Driving me nuts with the adoration of Fed. Yes, we all know - GOAT. :grrr:
Those commies on tv are so biased:taz:
:taz::no worries::boogie::party::yahoo::laugh::dance:

Fed gets a very luck net cord :grrr:
Sallydaisy

Jo serving at *1-4, 15-30 now. Jo needs some very good serves to hang on.
And it is only 1 break of serve.
*15-40.
*30-40 Challenge from Fed (late!).
Deuce. Jo not giving up!
Advantage Jo.
Sallydaisy
23-01-2013, 12:04
Jo to serve to stay in the match at *2-5
Come on Jo. Still just a break down. You can do it.

"play pointbypoint I watch all the night sessions so I hope some people watched me. I love 4 and 5 set thrillers. Being on the court is different to watching but it's always special"
"need to recover before Andy, I'm young you know (laughs nervously), I'll be alright"
"I'm looking forward to the match, he had a great year last year, finally got his first slam. Amazing achievement to win the olympic Gold Medal after losing the Wimbledon Final, it's going to be tough against him"

Certainly looks like it was a tussle between Fed and Jo but Roger just edging it in the end. So another Andy/Fed clash and hopefuly Murray will be on his A game and be the fresher of the two though onviously this is a step up. Hopefully it won't be a handicap not having played at night. Andy should certainly be up for it!

Haven't been watching the match, but the scoreline looks overwhelming.
That was just ruthless from Novak, it was almost cruel...as you say poor Daveed just didn't stand a chance, he will be gutted with that performance..top form from Novak!!!!

I'd love to see Andy post a 6'2, 6'2, 6'1 scoreline over Federer this time tomorrow ...
;)
Ferrer has always struggled against Nole; 2 completely different styles of play and unfortunately the Serbian has all the weapons to hurt the Ferrer game.

Very comprehensive win by Nole. Started to feel really sorry for Daveed, he usually fights so hard but seemed to have the stuffing knocked out of him today.
Wow! I did not expect Novak to winthat comfortably.
Getting some flack on twitter for sayin Novak would have been happy he was in Ferrer half and not Andy's and he was a bit lucky that way as Andy may have been tougher. But am sure at start of fortnight they would have taken Ferrer
Don't know if the 5 set win may have hindered Ferrer but Novak did play very well. Hopefully it will be neutralised somewhat in the final

Nole certainly in form but thought Ferrer would've had a bit more resistance. However, the long match with Almagro may have been a factor and it is a difficult match up for him. Sure it will be a different matter in the final and hopefully Andy will be there to really challenge him.
Felt it just emphasised yet again the gulf between the top 4 (am including Rafa) and the rest. Apart from being a terrier, I've never really understood Ferrer's rise to #4. He has far less variety and strategy in his arsenal than many other players IMHO. I guess grit and consistency count for a lot.
A little bit surprised that Ferru was brushed aside quite so easily, but it just re-emphasises again what an amazing champion Nole is. Whoever gets to the final to meet Nole, it should be another amazing tennis match.

Grit and consistency are important, but I think even more important are his excellent return of serve, movement, and the fact that he's always trying to play inside the baseline and dictate rallies. When he's up against the top 4 though, he's not able to do this as they've got bigger shots than he has, return serve well, and move just as well as he does, if not better. So he's forced to either defend more or to go for winners too early in the rally, both of which he's not comfortable with doing regularly.
It was definitely a below-par performance from him today, but perhaps he was affected by his very long match against Almagro the other day. Physically it was a tough match but emotionally he must have invested a lot of energy in breaking Almagro 3 times to stay in the match, and in winning a crucial tiebreak. Novak was always the likely winner, but it may have been closer had Ferrer been fresher (playing back-to-back tournaments before the AO probably didn't help either).
I am now pretty sure of certain suspicions I had, really quite comicalDo tell.
