Sadly for Germany one of their players, Andrea Petkovic, had to withdraw with an injured knee.
It puts her participation at the Oz Open in doubt ...........

Hopman Cup this year is turning into a catalogue of injuries.
Not good for the players aiming to do well in Melbourne from 14th January onwards!

The latest casualty is Jo-Wilfried Tsonga ... from HopmanCup on twitter:-

Hopman Cup ‏@hopmancup (https://twitter.com/hopmancup) With Team France leading 2-1 in the 2nd set, Jo-Wilfried #Tsonga (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Tsonga&src=hash) calls for the trainer and retires injured at #HHC13 (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23HHC13&src=hash). #South (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23South&src=hash) Africa wins 2-1
As it goes this particular RR is a 'dead' tie because neither France nor South Africa can make it to the Final as only the top team in each group goes through.

Yesterday John Isner withdrew with a knee injury before play began. He was replaced by Thanasi Kokkinakis (AUS) but it meant USA couldn't beat Spain.

There is just one more RR match to be played tonight between Serbia and Germany.
I think that even if Serbia lose and are tied with Australia, they'd go through to the Final based on %'s.

Certainly a few casualties this year which has been unfortunate for the event. However still some good tennis, though have just caught the highlights on Eurosport where they tend focus on one match and just brief highlights of the rest.

Medina Garrigues just beat Ivanovic! So it will be down to the mixed doubles now - should be an entertaining match!

Unfortunately the very good English live stream stopped a while ago and I am now having to watch a Russian one

A bit of an upset, well done Spain- disappointing for Nole and Ana though.

An upset? Once it came down to the doubles, I thought that the Spaniards would probably win 'cos they play a lot more doubles than the Serbs.

An upset in overall terms,Spaniards were the favourites in the doubles really.

Wow! What a great mixed dubs final. REALLY enjoyed the mixed comp. this week. We had this on our tv but it's always delayed so only just got to watch it this afternoon. Happy Spain won. Annabel was sooooo deliriously chuffed. Love to see that. Nando gave her his diamond-encrusted ball as well and told her she was the MVP. And she really was. Had to be the longest trophy presentation of them all. The Hyundai sponsor took 6 minutes alone.
