Andy won through his R2 match against Australian Qualifer John Millman in 3 sets.
He's got only 17hrs before he's on court again ...
He's up against 26yr old Denis Istomin from Uzbekistan, who earlier defeated home crowd favourite Lleyton Hewitt 7'5, 7'5.
Andy and Denis have never met on the ATP Tour before so the H2H is 0-0.
The match is scheduled not before 16.00 local tomorrow Friday 4th January.
That's 06.00 in the UK so set your alarm clocks folks ...
... and let's hope for a easier match to follow! (and a win of course!)

Unfortunately just as I will be going swimming, unless I go later, will think on it.
If I wake up I'll get up otherwise I'm not setting the alarm for this one. Reserving my stamina for the Oz Open!

I'm working, so even though I'm in Australia, the match will be half over by the time I get home!

I'm working but should manage to catch most of it before I go .... although not sure about the getting up at 6 .... having been poorly all week!
Back to work tomorrow for me so the timing is perfect!
Looks like ESPN covering Brisbane through the night but switching to WTA matches at 6. Presumably there will be a stream somewhere.
Glad I didn't bother with the subscription to ESPN then, or Tennistv for that matter.

The t.v. magazine shows ESPN switching to WTA from 6am, however, on the guide on t.v. ESPN are showing Live Murray v Istomin 6.00am so looks like they are showing Andy's match live. I have set it to record but will hopefully be up in time to watch it live.

I hope there is a livrstream, if anyone knows of one would you please send a link here. TA I hope Andy can do it in 2 sets, I did not see any of the match but from what I read on the red button Andy was struggling, not very encouraging. I hope they are exaggerating again.

He was fine in the first and third sets but went on his good old walkabout in the second and Millman couldn't put a shot wrong.
Better time for me, though I might not make the start!!!
Come on Andy!!!
The Very Best of Luck Andy!!!

Hope Andy's 'twinges' have settled down and he's up and ready for this match.
Setting my alarm for 06.30am because tbh it's entirely likely the earlier matches will over-run and he might be later starting than 6am.
I've got a cold and sore throat so am just dosing up with a soothing Lemsip/whisky mix.

I can remember in 2005 staying up until the early hours just to follow a live scoreboard of American Challengers, but I'm eight years older now and I never was very good at getting up early!
Rouges, I have seen a livestream for the match advertised on First Row Sports. http://www.thefirstrow.eu/sport/tennis.html A while ago I downloaded an app for their HD streams and I think it was quite good, I'm not sure whether it works without the app. It's also showing on livescorehunter, but I had trouble finding a working stream from there today - I wish I had remembered to try the FirstRow one.
Morning folks..........Andy on court warming up...........Let Go Andy!!!!!.............coffee needed!!!!

2-1 to Istomin. A couple of good rallies from Andy in that rally, but very much on serve so far. C'mon Andy!
Morning all - any live streams please - have searched but can't find anything?

Andy a bit casual and now a BP for Istomin at 3-2. C'mon Andy!
First break point for Istomin, 3-2* 30-40, saved with a service winner.
Andy struggling to hold, Istomin holding for fun, but 4-4.

I can't believe I am up at this time to watch tennis! Andy seemed lucky to get through that service game, but I didn't see it all. . .
Andy steps it up on the Istomin serve, 2 break points!
Andy breaks, and will serve for the set!

Andy struggling to hold, Istomin holding for fun, but 4-4.
Quite right, but thankfully different in game 9. Andy to serve for set at 5-4.
Game and first set Murray, 6-4.

The cat is totally confused at me being up and at the computer at this hour of the day. The house is freezing and I can't remember how to turn the new heating system ahead of the timer. The things we do for Andy.
Wow - just discovered that this is on ESPN - brilliant!!:yahoo:
Glad I paid that £10!!!

I don't need the heating on; I've got a fluey cold and I'm so hot!!!
Started off watching the match in bed but it's comfier sat up.
This could go to three sets if Andy gives Denis the slightest advantage now.

40-40 Andy has just made two doubles. Focus please!
A couple of DFs and a dodgy dropper, but Andy holds for 4-4.
In a mirror of the first set, Andy has a chance at 0-30.
Istomin brings it back to 30-30, Andy a bit passive.
Looking increasingly like a TB as Andy holds for 5-5.
Andy gets it back to deuce on the Istomin serve from 40-15 down...
And Istomin holds, so a TB is what we need!

A tiebreak is what I hate.
A tiebreak is what I hate.
Me too!!
Far too many dodgy droppers at the moment...
Easy hold, so a tie-break it is!

Tiebreak it is. Fingernail-chewing time. I suppose it is better than the alternative at this point.

Istomin serving first:
*1-0 DI pushed AM around the court a lot in that point
2-0* Error from Andy at the net
2-1* That's a bit better
*3-1 Istomin isn't giving up one little bit
*3-2 Andy gets the mini-break back
*3-3 Well done Andy, steadied the ship.
Istomin serves first in the tie-break.
*0-0
1-0*
2-0*, instant mini-break for Istomin
*2-1
*3-1
3-2* mini-break back.
3-3* at the change of ends.
*3-4 and Andy is in front for the first time.
*3-5 and here's Andy's chance to wrap this up!
3-6* and Istomin's first DF leads to match point.
3-7
Game set and Match to Andy, 6-4 7-6
Sallydaisy
04-01-2013, 07:47
Andy still serving - must hold point here at 3-3
Bit of controversy with a call overule and they're replaying the point
*4-3 to Andy, Isto to serve next
5-3* mini-break to Andy
6-3* DF from Istomin leaving Andy 2 serves for the match
*7-3 There she blows!!!
:yahoo:
Well done, Andy - never a doubt :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Istomin didn't give Andy an easy ride at all so it's great that he came through that match 18hrs after completing his R2 v Millman.
6'4, 7'6(3) and he's certainly getting some good match practice and chance to play himself into the Australian time zone and heat.
Better than yesterday, as you say upped his game when it mattered.............!!!!!!
Now for Nishikori !!!!
Just got up at 3-3 in the second so no idea how he played in the first but this looked much cleaner and more positive (despite the dodgy droppers). I see Lendl was there - if that's what it takes to motivate him he needs Lendl at every tournament if he wants the points to get to number 1 - unless of course he's going to win ALL the slams this year ;)

Certainly two tight sets but Andy found another gear when required. istomin made him battle but certainly a step up from yesterday and sure he'll I prove further in the Kei semi. An enjoyable match even if everything didn't always go to plan, we were spared a decider this time! Well done Muzzah!:cheer::cheer:

Well done Andy - hopefully on a roll now.
A solid victory for Andy :yahoo: with Istomin being very consistent so he had to remain patient. During the on-court interview he was told he would be playing Dimitrov in the semi tomorrow, Andy had fun correcting the interviewer also before the match when the umpire informed each player that they were very good yesterday at averaging 22 seconds between points Andy grinned and gave a mock celebratory fist pump.:big grin:

Another close match for Andy, Istomin serving very well and very aggressive in play. Andy defensive at times but came good when it mattered. Well done Andy, will need to be on his toes with Nishikori

Good plan. Lemsip and a bowl of porridge for me - not together though.
It was very impressive how he didn't react one bit.:worship: ;) I hope Rafa is practising his timekeeping between points during his extended lay-off, could be very expensive. ;)
Well done Andy!
I failed to see any of this - didn't get up as early as planned!

Saw just a little on ESPN before I had to go out. Andy played some excellent service games. I must say he lets himself get into some tight situations but somehow - when it counts - he steps up the pace and pulls things through.
There was a time when he might have lost in these situations but he seems to have another gear now.
Good to see

Are you composing one? I'm interested to know what rhyme you can find for the punch line. Menace, perhaps?
