Nishikori next ...
Both came through their Quarter-Final matches with the same scoreline of 6'4, 7'6(3).
Andy leads their H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=MC10&oId=N552) 2-0 but he might need to up his game a lot to kick Kei into touch in the Semi-Final. The young Japanese player moved into the top 20 around the middle of last year and has been playing consistently well with a win on homeground at Tokyo last October (Andy exited at the SF stage to Raonic).
Andy beat him in the last encounter at the AO at the QF and quite easily.
In fact the scorelines from both their previous matches indicate that Muzzah has the type of game that the Japanese player struggles with.
Kei sometimes gets coaching help from Brad Gilbert (ex-coach of Andy Murray) so it'll be interesting to see if he's able to tackle this match differently.
Andy will need to be on his mettle - and aim for a short sharp match.
It'll be played on Saturday 5th January 2013. Time tbc

04.00 on a Saturday morning?
Apart from anything else it means Andy plays again in the hottest part of the day (yes, I know someone has to) and I'm pretty certain he'd prefer the night session when it is a bit cooler. Can't find the full OOP as yet but I'm guessing that Serena has the night match because her opponent is still on court and it'll be the Ladies Final so they've put the 'secondary' men (both are unseeded here) on in the evening.
On the upside it means Andy is getting well used to the playing conditions and heat and at least it isn't in the morning. Mr Lendl has arrived in Brisbane so we might see some sharper tennis tomorrow. I hope.

I'll have to give this one a miss. Staying up late-ish I can do, getting up very early I can just about do, but a 4am start? After a 6am start today that has left me feeling punch-drunk? Cheer him on for me, any brave souls who are going to watch this. And anyone watching or able to record and watch later, tell me how he played please!
I'll be up for this as I also have to be up at stupid o'clock on Sunday morning to watch the Green Bay Packers thrash the Minnesota Vikings, so my sleep pattern can probably cope!.
I can categorically say I will not see this one!!!
If anyone manages to wake themselves up, please cheer on my behalf!! :cheer::cheer:
4am on a Saturday? Not a chance. I look forward to hearing the result when I surface at a more human hour. Major kudos to anyone who manages to get up for this one, you will need to do a lot of cheering to make up for all us sleepy-heads. Reckon it will be a close first set, but Andy should do it in straight sets. Nishikori really improved in 2012 so it will probably not be easy, but hopefully straightforward - especially with Mr Lendl keeping a beady eye on proceedings. Go Andy!
:no worries:

Lovel time especially as I had only about 4 hours sleep yesterday :p Hoping my laptop is fixed so I can use it tonight... Otherwise argh!

Good luck with that one. Hope the Pack can cope better with Peterson than they did on Sunday.
Deffo not getting up for this one! Lendl has already arrived and it appeared Andy raised his game this morning with the arrival of his mentor. Hoping Andy has moved on somewhat in terms of any advice Brad may be able to give Kei ahead of this encounter.

I am sure Ken has come on a lot in the last year but this match - and in fact most matches Andy plays outside the top four - is his to win and, er, sometimes his to lose as well....
Hopefully he has played himself in to the tournament. I have seen most of the two matches this week and, well, it is his to win and er........
Good luck Andy!
Like Andy, these are my early morning warm up matches for the Aussie Open, so i'll get up to watch it.
It can't be as dull as the match today, or was that just me?

is there a live stream (livescorehunter not working for me)
I dare say this will be a really good match, but I am not setting my alarm for 4am. I have to get up in the morning for the rehearsal of the Sunday School play which we are performing on Sunday.

I think I will save my sleepless nights for a few weeks from now! Family get together which will feel long enough :) I do love getting up and lying on the sofa though, makes it more exciting. I hope Andy makes short work of this one.
Defo not getting up for this one. May be the Finals, that's if Andy makes it. Good luck Andy.
11pm for me , great !! will see this one :)

Ooops - got that one wrong then didn't I Pat?
Well, I might be up or not to watch it. Had a few hours sleep this afternoon to catch up/get ahead a bit of time so fingers crossed I'll wake up in 4hrs time!
If not - go for it Muzzah!

Over. Poor Baggy got time violated in the tb.
I was hoping Baggy would win
Time to sit back and concentrate on tv - hope I dont doze off before the match starts!! Maybe another cuppa will do the trick.
Was hoping for a Baggy win also..........can't believe that time violation though!!
Off we go, Andy won the toss and chose to receive.

Andy's off to a good start I see!
;)
0-3 but he's just held his own serve so he's on the board at 1-3.
Hum ho. We may be in for a 3-setter!
What time is it in Canada? I got up about 5mins ago.
Nice to see Jamie watching..

What is Andy doing? Kei's giving him all sorts of chances and he's not taking them. :grrr:
Andy's had 0-30 in both of Nishikori's service games but has failed to do anything from there. *1-4.

Andy with a very quick hold there for 2-4. He needs to get a break back pronto.
Come on Muzzah!!!!!

Andy to serve at *3-4 to hold and get the match back on serve. Oh, and get the win of course.
He looks a lot more awake and ripped some good winners in that last game.
Once Kei falters a bit he might lose confidence.
wow , incredible defense from andy there

Can't believe how many ads choke the livestream links now.
Fantastic defence from Andy at break point up and he forces the volley error to break again! Now to serve the set out.
like every 2 minutes RL , so annoying

Andy 5-4 and serving next for the first set after breaking Nishikori to 30.
He had him at *0-40 but Kei hit a couple of good first serves to get out of trouble.
Long rally on game point which went to Muzzah when Nishi hit a shot into the net.
Come on Muzzah!
:swingin:
Boom bang and it's first set Murray, 6-4!
:yahoo: great comeback from Andy
Injury time-out for Nishikori, who's knee is heavily taped. Might not go the distance.

Well done Andy! 6'4 first set.
Kei started well and got the early break but Andy raised his game to break back mid-set and won 5 games on the trot to win it.
Hopefully only one more set to go ...
Come on Muzzah!!!!!

Nishi having knee treatment
He had the trainer on for his knee yesterday in his match against Dolgopolov and the commies have mentioned they thought he was trying not to stress it too much. Not good in the very first week of the season!

Very well done Andy for turning that set around. After the first couple of games he's looked quite sharp. Nishikori faltering as the set went deep but I can see why Andy is peppering his backhand - he has a devastating forehand.

Not anymore. I had it on fullscreen and I got some stupid stuff come up, clicked on the little x and the entire screen disappeared.
Anyway, don't have to faff about with livestreams now coz Andy's won. Off to bedski I go.
what a shame for Kei , hope its not serious
was thinking this would be a really good match , but yay Andys in the final
I've got a dentist app. at 8.30am. so no point in going back to bed.
Sad for Nishikori....a win is a win.......Andy into the final......back to bed for me I think......
Back to bed for me - another early rise tomorrow
Always disappointing when there's a retirement due to injury especially when Kei is one of the good guys. We can assume he's not playing the doubles final which is also a pity as it would've been an additional workout for his partner Dimitrov before the final tomorrow.

This is an extract from that blog I posted about in the thread about Challengers & Futures. I take no resposibility for whether the blogger has researched this properly or if her statements are true.
If you are trying to update results and game's development of your local player to your newspaper's website or an internet portal, soon the tournament supervisor will forbid you doing it.
Why?
Because ITF is selling licenses to gambling companies, and only the bookmakers have the privilige of scoring. Moreover, even if your brother is playing a match and you want to call the office for the result in progress, the lady with the phone at the club is forbidden to give you the information - it also happens when the match is complete! In other words, gambling companies are the real bosses of the tournaments to elation of tennis organizations.
well if you put it on fullscreen you dont get the ads
Yep, but you have to wait for the centre ad to disappear or close it very carefully with a direct hit on the x (and do the same with the lower ad) before you can access the full screen view.
I need to look at Adblockplus.

Had problems with internet on phone last night and didn't comment at end of match (didn't have PC switched on)obviously ending unsatisfactory and sure Andy would've liked full match. However, positive is that Andy showed us some good form under pressure. Think he'll still need to step it up in the final though and ideally will want to be faster out the starting blocks with Grigor. Unfortunate for Kei but thankfully doesn't seem too serious.
