It seems confirmed that Andy won the bid to buy this luxury hotel near his home town of Dunblane.
The Daily Record has a report here. (http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/andy-murray-buys-18m-hotel-1531991)
A couple of extracts:-
Set in 35 acres, Cromlix House – where Andy’s older brother Jamie married his Colombian girlfriend Alejandra Gutierrez – has eight luxury suites, three dining rooms and meeting rooms.
The star’s adviser, Neil Grainger, said: “As soon as all the contracts that have been agreed are in place, including the company who will be managing the property, Mr Murray’s management company will be making a full announcement. “I hope it would be within the next month.”
Andy, who begins his bid to win the first major of the year in Brisbane, Australia, this week, fought off two other bidders to land the property. His beaten rivals were rumoured to include legendary chefs the Roux brothers.
Andy’s agreement to buy the sprawling Victorian mansion was conditional on the licence and final legal papers are expected to be signed within 30 days. The seven-day-a-week premise licence in the name of Cromlix House Hotel was applied for on December 18 and there is a deadline of no later than January 14 to object.
Judy, along with Andy’s accountant, are directors of Cromlix House Hotel Limited. All the shares are owned by Parched Investments Limited, a company set up to handle the star’s blossoming wealth.

If Judy has anything to do with it there'll be a fabulous 'cakery' there very soon!!!
;)
And I bet you they knew quite a few of the staff who worked there as it was local.
If a licence has been applied for then it sounds like they plan to keep it running as a hotel, at least initially - think someone suggested they might want it as a base for the purported Murray Academy?? Judy will want to personally interview the pastry chefs to make sure they are up to her high standards!

Of course he'll have bought it in order to put us all up when we go to Davis Cup ;)

They have 36 acres - enough space for some tents :)

Now Murray, whose bid is believed to have beaten the top ranked French gastronomic doubles team Michel and Albert Roux, intends to turn the hotel into one of Scotland’s most prestigious dining venues.
Well, today The Herald seem to think this is "news". Not sure why. But anyway, if you want to read all about it then here's the link (http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/home-news/andy-murray-snaps-up-luxury-hotel-near-dunblane.1361789276)

I think they were waiting to get an application for a licenced bar or something or other accepted before making an official announcement.
This bit is new I think
The refurbished hotel is scheduled to re-open next spring ahead of the 2014 Ryder Cup, which is being staged a short drive away at Gleneagles.
Also I think its the first time the news has come from Andy himself.
Murray said in a statement: "I am pleased to have acquired Cromlix House and look forward to securing its future as a successful business.
"By re-establishing Cromlix as a leading luxury hotel at the heart of the Dunblane community we will be able to attract new visitors to the area, create a number of new jobs and focus on supporting other local businesses.
"I'm pleased to be able to give something back to the community I grew up in."

Perhaps Andy will swap 'hotelier' notes with Juan Carlos Ferrero?
He has a hotel south of Valencia (and I'm pretty certain Andy has stayed there) with just 12 rooms.

Hahaha!!! Apparently Rafa has also invested in 2 hotels.
The hotel will boast a Chez Roux restaurant. Renowned chef Albert Roux, owner of Le Gavroche in London, is one of a group of industry experts consulted by Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI) which will manage Cromlix House on behalf of Murray.
Hmmm, I wonder if Judy had an influence on this by the looks of the picture in the deserts section of this page. http://www.le-gavroche.co.uk/samplemenus.html

MUST say I’m really looking forward to doing a wee restaurant review at Cromlix House, the hotel near Dunblane that’s just been bought for £1.8million by Scots tennis sensation Andy Murray.
Don’t know what the food, decor and toilets will be like but, with Andy in charge, I take it the service should be pretty good.
And in terms of value for money, fingers crossed it’s not a racket.
If I give it a good write-up, do you think the big man will return the favour with a backhander?
In keeping with the tennis theme, I’m told all the kids’ high-chairs will be borrowed from his umpire pals.
And don’t worry about any arguments over the waiter having his thumb in your soup. Any disputes about whether it was in or not will be quickly resolved by Hawk-Eye.
Regular reader Jimmy Mac in Dundee reckons Andy should rename the hotel Double Faulty Towers. And one cheeky rascal emailed to say: “Do you think owning a hotel will allow Andy to find regular employment for his wee brother?”

We drove up to Cromlix the other day. There is a bull dozer blocking the driveway so we couldn't get very far ! But Andy was in Miami at the time anyway so we wouldn't have seen him. :grrr:
When he has had all the work done to this place it will look wonderful. I believe he wants it to be ready for the Ryder Cup next September.
:welcome: to the forum Andy's girl. Thanks for the info.
Herald (http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/home-news/facelift-to-start-on-murray-hotel.20922611) - Facelift to start on Murray hotel
Murray's grandmother yesterday said she was overjoyed the tennis star would re-open the hotel, because it has played a big part in their family life.
Shirley Erskine said: "I think it's great that Andy is back making links with his hometown. We had our silver wedding anniversary at Cromlix way back when it first opened as a hotel and my husband Roy was the optician in the town. We went back and we had our golden wedding there too. Then Jamie got married there.
"Even now we walk our dog in the grounds to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It's a vast estate on our doorstep, and you just feel away from it all. Never in our wildest dreams did we ever think it would be in the family. It's lovely. We have so many happy memories of the hotel. Now I'm sure there will be many more."

Thanks Jan for the update. The Herald article cazza posted above also mentioned these listed items.
"Listed building consent is also sought to relocate gateposts, linked to the new parking, and a 400-year-old sundial, put up at the hotel some time after 1920. It once stood near Dunblane's old police station."
That was almost a month ago. Hope any glitches can be speedily sorted out.

Yes as one of the comments on the article said, they are just relocating it, not demolishing. Hoping Scottish Heritage work with Andy on this, he doesn't need hassle! :)
Wasn't there a condition of him buying it subject to planning permission?

Drove up by the hotel again today. (Actually walked up by the goods entrance and round the back). It is in desperate need of renovation but all seems to have stopped for now. Although there were a number of cars parked in front of the hotel so I'm guessing it is in discussions.
If Andy has the imagination (and I hope he does) he could do so much with this. The grounds could easily take a 9 hole golf course and also riding stables. (And I would love to help out in the stables if he wished..... hint hint).

My wife paid an obscene amount of money at a charity auction (a friend's daughter has Cystinosis) for an evening meal for 2 at Cromlix. As of tomorrow, she has been my wife for twelve whole years, so tonight we went out for dinner. A lovely meal in a beautiful setting with unbelievably attentive staff made for a perfect evening. Unfortunately Andy selfishly travelling direct from Dubai to Indian Wells so no personal service.

My plans to enjoy afternoon tea at Cromlix on Friday were scuppered after a call to come home to be with my very poorly Mum in law. Voucher was a pressie from my daughter for my birthday last August and therefore about to expire. Cromlix have come up trumps though and we've been able to reschedule and extend the voucher to February. Just as well I'm patient.
Sorry your mum in law is so unwell, and for your plans changing. Great on them for extending it though, I hope you get to go sooner rather than later :)
Awww Jane. Sorry to hear about MIL but at least the tea can wait and you've still got it to look forward to.
