ANDY'S SCHEDULE 2013

If Andy has committed to play an event the date/tourney are shown in bold in the first 2 columns. If they are not bolded it doesn't mean he won't play there - just that it isn't confirmed.

Once confirmed, either by his name appearing on an Entry List 6 weeks in advance or because it's a Mandatory Masters/Slam, they're in blue.

So far Andy hasn't made public his intentions regarding which 500 events he'll play (he needs 4 of which one can be Monte Carlo and 1 must be played after the USO) in 2013 so all 11 of them are shown. He has said he's returning to Queens so that's a 'commitment' but not yet confirmed via an Entry List.

Results are for 2013 back to 2009. For earlier resuts please see the 2012 schedule (http://www.andymurrayfanforum.com/forums/showthread.php?525-Andy-s-Schedule-2012-(and-results-table-2008-2012)). Over the next week or so we'll post a locked thread with just a Result Table showing every event he's entered.

Andy schedule update, 2 quotes from separate articles but there's a bit of an overlap in content.

Murray will have little more than a week at home to gather his thoughts, spend some time in the company of his great friend, Ross Hutchins, the Great Britain Davis Cup player who is in the early stages of his fight with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and then return to Miami for a training stint before the next phase of the season, the American hard-court swing. Then it is clay.

extract from The Times: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/tennis/article3670010.ece

Whether Murray will make himself available for Great Britain’s home Europe/Africa Zone group I, second-round tie against Russia in April, for which Earl’s Court, in London, Coventry and Glasgow are prospective venues, remains to be seen.

Before he makes that decision, there is a short period of rest at home, a return to Florida for boot camp and then the first two Masters 1000 tournaments of the year, in Indian Wells, California, and Miami, his second home, in March. A thought could be given to entering the ATP 500 event in Memphis in mid-February, with its limited field and potential for easy pickings, with a view to making up the ranking difference with Federer, which is fewer than 2,000 points.

The rankings of the seeds at Memphis 500 last year were 14, 17, 29, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36. It is a 32 draw 500 ATP event. Delray Beach last year was almost exactly the same in terms of seeds (13, 21, 22, 27, 30, 33, 36 and 37).
If Andy is serious about going for number 1, Memphis is indoor (so no heat exertion) and gives him two weeks practice beforehand and one week afterwards.
Seems perfect really but Andy will know best
Edit: 2013 Delray Beach players (so far):
The ATP's Top 20 contingent in the ITC includes John Isner (No. 13), Marin Cilic (No. 14), Kei Nishikori (No. 18) and Alexandr Dolgopolov (No. 20), as well as former champions Kevin Anderson (2012), Mardy Fish (2009), Tommy Haas (2006) and Xavier Malisse (2005 & 2007). Nishikori was the 2008 ITC winner.

The list also confirms the first-ever appearance by former World No. 7 Gael Monfils, who is playing his way back from a knee injury that sidelined him for three and a half months during the 2012 season.

Memphis players:
1) ISNER, JOHN 2) CILIC, MARIN 3) RAONIC, MILOS 4) NISHIKORI, KEI 5) DOLGOPOLOV, ALEXANDR 6) HAAS, TOMMY 7) QUERREY, SAM 8) VERDASCO, FERNANDO 9) FISH, MARDY 10) MAYER, FLORIAN 11) MELZER, JURGEN 12) ANDERSON, KEVIN 13) LOPEZ, FELICIANO 14) ISTOMIN, DENIS etc…

Thinking about it, the top twenty players may not be over the moon to see Andy in either tournament because without him it is a much more open field with a lot of similar grouped players but without one of the really top guys....

Why, unlike the other top players, is Andy not playing between the AO and IW? I'm concerned he won't be match-fit though hope I'm wrong...

Andy's chosen to use this period of time doing some intensive training with Ivan ... so it'll be his own problem if he's not match fit. I wouldn't be surprised to hear he's practising against various guys at Delray Beach which is just up the road.

I hadn't really thought about it until watching Dubai and hearing the commies talking about Novak's 3 weeks away from playing tournaments. I don't doubt the training will be valuable and much good work has been done with Ivan - it's just the lack of match play that is a slight concern, though it clearly didn't bother Nole.

Andy seems to be running out of time to fulfill the commitment to 4 * 500 events in the year. I think he has only done Monte Carlo so far and from the list above there are only 3 more dates available July 29, September 30 and October 21. Is there any penalty for not competing in 4 other than probably having to count a zero pointer I assume?

I think it's about time Queens became a 500 event, does anybody know how the decision to rank the events is decided. If the field is anything to go by then it always has a strong one.

He's got his name down to play in Bangkok which is one of the 250's kicking off the Asian swing.
So he'll probably play either Tokyo or Beijing (500's) ahead of the Shanghai Masters.

And it's likely he'll play either Basle or Valencia meaning only 1 zero pointer from the 500's.
Doubt he'll worry because that's only 1 x 0 of the 18 countables so he can add in points from any of his current 250's to make up the remaining 17 countable events for his ranking.

I notice Andy's name doesn't appear on the list of confirmed players on the Thailand Open website so it looks like his decision to be made after the Davis Cup. Give it a miss Andy.

His name does appear on the Thai Open website (http://www.thailandopen.org/2013/index.php) and he's definitely on the Entry List as published by the ATP. In fact he's top seed as noted here on the thread for it (http://www.andymurrayfanforum.com/forums/showthread.php?2072-BANGKOK-2013-23-29-September.-Main-thread-Entry-List) in the forum!
So, he can only now withdraw without penalty if injured/ill.

I think it's much better that he does play this event. Shanghai is a Masters so it's mandatory meaning Andy has to go to the Far East at some stage. He doesn't do well with jetlag so the sooner he is out there and acclimatised the better IMHO. In order to do that he's following the pattern of the last few years and playing one of the 250's, one of the 500's and then Shanghai.
2 years ago he won the lot so here's hoping for a repeat of that.

Andy is down as playing Bangkok, Tokyo and Shanghai, although his website infers he is not playing again until Shanghai. Also the Murrays World website has him playing in Tokyo and Shanghai but not Bangkok. Can anyone clarify please. I want to know when I can next look forward to him playing again!
