Hi, I'll be traveling to London at the beginning of March and wondered if anyone knew of any tennis courts available for rental so I can play while on vacation. Looking for both outdoor and indoor courts. Thanks for your help! - Abbie

Hi Abbie
I think one of our regulars plays tennis in Regents Park so she might be able to help with more information but might not be on the forum until later tonight.

Whereabouts are you staying when in London? Just roughly so Xenon can think on what to suggest.
Is it you first visit?

The other thing you could try is to contact the LTA/British Tennis.
They have a section where you can put in details to find a court.

One problem is that many courts belong to clubs where you have to pay for membership but it's worth contacting nearby ones to see if they would consider offering a 'guest' membership to those visiting from abroad.

Also many council-run leisure centres have courts for hire (although they may not be of the highest quality) - definitely worth contacting the local council wherever you are staying.

Thank you Linda!

I'll be staying a few days in Croydon and a few days in South Kensington. I've been to London several times but have never tried to play tennis. Since I'm travelling w/my friend who also likes to play, I thought we could give it a shot.

I figured since I just realized I play best using Andy's racquet (been trying out new racquets for a while), I would give playing in his home a try ;) Plus, it would be nice to know some court, if and when I ever decide to move to London.

I appreciate all your help!

Regents park is nice. It is run by will to win tennis. You don't have to join them as a member of a club in order to play and they are drop in sessions with an hour's coaching and doubles. Is about £9 to book a court otherwise

Lovely courts, pavilion, coaches and people

I have tried a few different rackets but Andy's is my favourite too :)

Thank you Xenon. I'll definitely check out Regents park! Sounds pretty affordable too.

I love playing w/the Radical Pro. Even my instructor told me I had to get it immediately after I demo'd it since my game got so much better! Hope it brings me luck on the courts.

Cool :) I became a member with regents park too, off-peak. For only £30. Got you into 3 tourneys which are fun up enter no matter how good or not so good you are, BTM membership and discount on court booking and drop ins

My coach told me that I should try and increase weight of racket. Mine was about 250-360 g I think. I tried out his racket which was a head radical but 295 or so g. Loved it! But too heavy for forehands. So got head radical 280g (there was no 285g) Hopefully don't have to change racket for a while now.
