The mens doubles event starts today but the Murrays aren't on the OOP. So that'll likely mean a R1 doubles match for them tomorrow - and a R1 singles match for Andy on Sunday.

As I posted on the Indian Wells main thread (did not see this) Andy and Jamie third on court 7 tomorrow after a ladies singles and a men's doubles.
They are playing Lindstedt and Zimonjic.

Especially good for Jamie as his ranking is down to 80 and Andy in terms of being involved in a competitive match the day before he plays his first singles match!

Bardot
09-03-2013, 23:40
Well done the Murray brothers and as we know Andy gets more personal enjoyment out of winning with Jamie than he does playing singles especially on an outside court with it's heightened atmosphere.

Wahey! Well done Andy and jamie against tough opponents :)

Also from neil

@poppyforest I thought he looked particularly sharp, his ball-striking was immense and Jamie fed off that. Played an exceptionally crisp TB

Sadly, Jamie's ranking had dropped down to #90 as of 4th March (see the header on Jamie's forum) so he was desperately in need of defending the 90 points he and Andy won here last year for reaching the QF (as they've just done again). Another couple of rounds will be needed to rise up the rankings on the 18th March. Jamie really needs a regular partner to bulld up a good doubles team for 2 or 3 years - but that never seems to happen.

Well done Andy and Jamie!

In R2 they'll play the winners of ALTS Hanescu/Moser (Baggy/Youzhny withdrew) or Huey/Janowicz, which is being played today Sunday 10th March, so the Bruzzas will probably be in action again on Monday.

Maybe a live stream in the next round?
Stand to be corrected but no doubles matches have yet been played on Courts 1-3 which are probably the televised ones. Presumably this might change once the scheduling pressure of all those early round matches is eased.
PS The match between Blake/Fish and Lopez/Raonic should be an interesting one! Not to mention the returning practice the Bryans are going to get against Isner and Querrey!

I would love to read an informed article comparing the typical strengths and weakness of an experienced doubles pairing and a pairing of top singles players, or a combination of the two, given that the doubles court/format is not the same as the singles court/format.

Check the twitter timeline of Tennis Panorama News (https://twitter.com/TennisNewsTPN) for a "commentary" throughout the match. Jerzy was serving 140mph bombs and Huey was "on fire" in the first set. Andy was struggling with his first serve "a little" and they were swapping breaks in the 2nd set. Words were also exchanged between Andy and Jerzy over suggestions Muzz Bros "touched the ball". Sounds like a fun match for the packed crowd.

Good result for Fleming/Hanley,keep going!
Unfortunately, they couldn't keep going ... beaten last night by Peya/Soares 6'3, 4'6, 10'5.

It's a shame but I have to say Colin Fleming has played a blinder so far in 2013.

After his regular co-star of 2011/2012, Ross Hutchins, took time out for cancer treatment he's had 6 partners in 8 tournaments in 10 weeks. Yet, despite the disruption, he's won 2 x ATP250's (Auckland, Soares and Marseille, Bopanna) and reached the SF of another (Montpellier, Marray).

More to the point he's defended a lot of points and kept his ranking in the 20's. Hopefully Jonny Marray will be back soon and the pair can properly pair up and have a good run in 2013.

JAMES4578

A pity but another tight one and overall it's very positive for Colin.

Congratulations to Bob and Mike Bryan for finally winning the IW Masters!
:trophy::trophy:

They beat Huey/Janowicz 6'3, 3'6, 10'6. This was the only Masters title they had not won and they've had 15 goes; last time they reached the Final here was in 2003. ATP report here:-
