Not much of a rest for Andy after his win over Lu, as he plays today!

He's up against Carlos Berlocq of Argentina, WR 85 (CH #37, March 2012)

They've never met before, but here's (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=B884&oId=MC10) the tale of the tape.

Andy's out on Stadium 2 for his R4 match!. (Roger, Rafa and Nole on Stadium 1).
17.00 local in Indian Wells on Wed 13/3/13 - and 24.00 UK time.
I'd better just stay up for this one ...

I'll see how I get on tonight .... might stay up for this .... but not very good at staying awake on a work night when I've been up since 6.

Andy seems to be working himself into form, so that's a very good sign. The end of this tournie should be very interesting indeed ...

Just spotted that Berlocq had a career high of #37 this time last year. So, not to be under-estimated ... and Andy might have to 'feel' his way around the Argie's game.

I'd just typed up the last 16 and added the current rankings of the 3 players left who weren't seeded.

Berlocq's career high of 37 looks to be more of a blip than something consistent. Over the last 3 years he's consistently been around the 50/80 rankings apart from a month last year when he made the 40's and that #37.

Crept out of bed at 2 this morning to watch the match against LU - not too sure if I can stay awake for this one. I might restore my sleep and surrender it when the match against Delpo comes around - that should be the way it works out anyway.
You're coming nicely into form Andy - let's see another nice 2-setter

I always wonder how the players cope with that shade almost across the court.
The sun is also been bothering a lot of players with their ball toss.
Probably why Andy and Carlos are wearing caps.

I don't think 'open season' applies here although I've no doubt some social networks are having a field day.
I was using the word in a topical context rather than a religious one in this instance, as in the Pope is in the news and happens to be an Argentine as is Andy's opponent.
So, it was all tennis related really .....

7'6, 6'4.

Bit scrappy from Andy as he tried to suss out Berlocq's game; and fair play to the Argentinian 'cos he produced some sharp shots in the first set in particular. But the Brit has the wherewithal to work his way through a match like this even if it is a bit of a grind. Andy was very fed up with the grunting from the other player and had several convos with the umpire about it.

Andy through to the Quarter-Finals ... to face either Tommy Haas or Juan Martin Del Potro.
He's got history with both of those so I reckon it'll be a corker no matter who he plays!!!

That was an ALMIGHTY ROAR from Andy when he won the match!!!
It was way tougher than he might have expected and he did well to grind out the win.
Not pretty tennis tonight and definitely very noisy from Berlocq!

The handshake was very civilised; Carlos also put a hand on Andy's shoulder and seemed to want to chat. Then my stream cut off so I didn't see any more.

It was probably a good match for him at this stage. Had to work hard and raise his game to win it which could help him in the next 3 rounds 'cos he'll need to play a lot better!

Ohb dear - I went to bed in complete confidence that it would be fairly straightforward for Andy and thinking that tomorrows match against Delpo would be the one to watch. It sounds as if it was tougher than we expected.
But he got through it which is the important thing. Onwards to the quarters and the semi

Have a feeling that Haas was pretty exhausted which is why Delpo won his so convincingly

Please correct me if my memory is being selective, but I seem to remember that the progress to the USO Final last year was not completely smooth either.

It might just be that Andy needs someone close to his level to play consistently at that level, if you see what I mean.

Tommy is also now 34 ... so despite his fitness (yes!) and commendable return to the top 20 he probably finds it harder to recover from tough matches. The day before he played a gruelling 3 setter to beat Nico Almagro.
Fran is only 24 and had an easier match against Phau whom he beat in 2 sets.
