4-2 GB. All about Colin's serving, as the set was. Next point crucial, crucial. C'mon Colin and Andy!
5-4 Andy to serve. C'mon Colin and Andy!
6-5 they got one back. MP GB on Croatia's serve.
6-6 into the net by Andy. Turn round.... one more Croatian serve.
C'mon Colin and Andy!
Colin DFs into the net. Eek. Two sets to one. Andy needs to help Colin to get his serving mojo back.
The longer this goes on, the better for Dodig tomorrow, not to mention this rubber is now more open.

Almost the perfect fourth set, great entertainment! Well done boys :boogie::dance:
Encouraging to see Dodig struggling at the end of the match whereas Andy was gazelle-like! Dodig looks like a player who doesn't have a plan B when the match isn't going his way and the head goes down. Wasn't much support to Pavic who looks another great Croatian prospect.
Jamie Baker waiting patiently for his turn with the mike!! Thought Annabel would never let him speak - but what a good job he's doing. I hope he gets to do more of this as he has a lovely personality and knows his stuff.
Anyway, well done GB and good luck for tomorrow!

She should have buttoned it and let Jamie do the interview. The 3 players are great friends and there would be some entertaining exchanges instead of Croft asking the same question 3 different ways and she didn't even ask about his back.

What a tie that was, the atmosphere was electric, lots of competition between the two countries cheering their teams and some unsportman like behaviour during and between serves especially during the third set but security sorted some of them eventually but it was still not quiet between first and second serves when .GB were serving. But we won and that it the important bit. Colin and Andy were great lifting each other during the difficult bits. A really enjoyable day, both Andy and Leon put theirs thumbs up when they saw the AM t shirt. I was standing above and in front of them on the way out. Colin went out with his head down and very quickly, did't sign anything, but did look up when I called well done Colin which is not the name I used but not allowed to write his nickname. (Predictive text and can't turn it off). One more to go, Andy only touched his back and did one stretch so fingers crossed for tomorrow. He certainly served better today with a few aces. Can't wait for the showdown. Croatia certainly fought hard and the crowd lifted them in the latter stages of the third set.
Just got back in time for the interview. Really felt Annabel Croft should have let Jamie ask the majority of questions. Off to watch the recording.

well that took a while, but credit andy. why did Croatia choose to play on clay, not the best surface for their players it seems
1st set done & dusted!
Anyone listening to 5Live? Malcolm Folley from the Mail on Sunday is the pundit and he's really laying into Andy about his Davis Cup appearances or lack of them. It could be John Lloyd speaking who he did say was a very good friend and obviously Folley blames Andy for Lloyd losing the captaincy. Also several gossipy and snide comments about Andy. It's as if the tennis press realise how important Andy is to their almost survival and there's a resentment there as to how powerful he is.

Leon has shown he can win without Andy. Lloyd showed nothing except reliance on Andy. Case proved!
2 down and 1 to go! Go Andy :boogie:
Dodig is an odd one. He played doubles at Wimbledon with Melo and even though they'd won their match he refused to congratulate his partner and just got his bag and stormed off leaving Melo looking completely nonplussed.

Dodig now serving to stay in match
Just been looking at some stats and realised that Andy has never played a match in the Davis cup World Group as of yet, he was absent in the 2008 tie with Argentina and he was still quite young when Britain had their 2003 tie with the Aussies in Sydney. Maybe another incentive for Andy as I'm sure he'll want to play the DC if we get into the WG. Some really brilliant matches possible too!

Yes, that is the case. If the 4th rubber wins the tie in 4 or 5 sets they can opt NOT to play the 5th.
If the 4th is won in 3 (as this is going to be!) then they usually play the 5th.

Andy also saying he was very pleased with his performance today.

why, playing on clay, can you get the ump to come down and look at the mark many times, whereas on hard you are limited to 3 (losing) challenges?
You only get challenges (3 per set) when Hawkeye is in operation (whether hard court inside or out) and they don't have on Hawkeye on clay because there's usually IS a ball mark for the Umpire to check. That is why there isn't Hawkeye at the French Open ...

which team has the weakest second player?
The umpire has always checked ball marks on clay so they're hardly going to change the rule just because hawkeye was invented. It's the (only) bonus of clay! ;)
I notice there are streams available for other dead rubbers like Australia/Poland so it's a pity not one for Dan's match.

Let's just hope that Ross is fit, healthy and part of the doubles team next time
Huge congrats to the whole team - Andy did a brilliant job, but Leon deserves so much credit for getting us back to the World Group. Team spirit in abundance, he has done such a great job. Sadly didn't get to see any of the matches, life got in the way of tennis again (hate it when that happens!). But it all sounds fantastic and great to hear how well everyone played. So jealous of all those who travelled to Umag - hope we get a home tie for World Group because even if its in London it will be a bit easier to get to (bet we end up with Canada away.....)
Very pleasant reception, dveryonewho was anyone was there, The Duchess of Gloucester , CEO, president and vice president, etc. All very chatty and circulating round the gathering. Kyle Edmund father was there, they had flown in to see Kyle but he had a main draw entry so had left as they were arriving. Very pleasant man. Leon and Matt both came out and thanked everyone for the support. James and Ross shot through without stopping. The rest were chilling out after all their efforts to get us back in the World group. I needed slime dinner so James and I left Mo, Susan and Alan still socializing and came back to the Hotel . Home tomorrow, sorry to leave as it was a lovely resort and the weather was great. Bob headed off about 8pm for the long drive back to Spain.
Absolutely brilliant for you all, so pleased everybody had a great time and to witness a great result from all of Team GB and also Leon.....just fantastic for everybody, so nice to read about "good" things in this day & age!!!.......WELL DONE TO TEAM GB & THEIR SUPPORTERS!!!!:GBflag::GBflag:
Awwwww, sounds like everyone had an amazing time! So happy for all of you!
So proud of Team GB of making it into the world group! A true group effort. Andy gave the other players to step it up and become a stronger unitand they did. The whole team played great! Loved Andy's side cap look lol! And awesome seeing Rosco back in the kit :)

Back to reality just put the washing out and hands are frozen. Was lazing in unbroken sunshine yesterday morning. One positive I don't have to fight with predictive text any more. I am so glad I went to Croatia, a lovely place with very friendly people and great tennis. Well done Team GB.

Just thought I would pop by and say how much I enjoyed the company of the AMFFers in Umag. And following instructions (Pat, if I remember rightly) just reporting in that I made it safely home last night. It was 25 hours door to door and not a speeding ticket in sight. Slept like a log last night.
Hope everyone else made it home safe and well. Wasn't it just a great weekend !!!
See you all in the next round, where ever that may be. As I posted on the "other" forum, "Bob in Kazakhstan" would be an interesting experience. But I had better get my car serviced before I go.

It was a superb weekend. The support for Andy, Colin and Dan was tremendous. Someone said on here show Andy love. I think we did that and more. Much love for Colin and Dan also. I chatted to Ross who looked so well. Treacle was so appreciative of the support as was Leon who thanked us all at the Reception. Now that was pretty special!!!!:wino::party::big grin:
Please, please do a blog SG as yours are pretty special like that reception! I was sooooo jealous of you all
