I have to say that this is the best laugh that I have had for a long time.
It was great to see Ivan and Andy letting their hair down and illustrating what a great relationship they have. Sad to see Tim was by far the weakest player and getting nervous :-(
I hope that they do more of these as I think as well as raising alot for charity, they also gave the game some very positive publicity and showed what the players are like when the seriousness of the tour is off.

Oh man! Guttted to have missed this! I really hope they put this on iplayer or online or something
Amazing effort from Andy, Rosco and them all. So proud of them! Target smashed and so lovely of Andy to donate prize money (though Bouncy seemed out of order)
What I want to know is whether andy had already donated his winnings, or weather Bouncy being a pratt made him for PR. Also whether donating his winnings also gets him off giving 20% or whatever it is of his whole year's earnings to the UK tax man.
He'll be taxed on his winnings . . . but if he Gift Aids it, then the charity gets the basic rate of tax back, and Andy gets the difference between basic rate and higher rate.

Thanks Xe! That was cool! Will look out for the whole thing on YouTube.
:rolling: Oh my goodness. The Rally had everything - comedy, drama, tears. I have not laughed so much in ages. Particularly loved Andy's celebration after hitting Ivan (bet he has to pay for that.....), Boris and the wooden racket, Michael McIntyre (comedy genius), and Andy's exchange with Jimmy Carr over the "Federer" shirts!
And very emotional - first Andy blowing a kiss up to Rossco when he won against Cilic, then more tears in the post-match interview with Sue, and I was off again when Rossco came on to the court at the end.
But it was SO lovely to see Andy relaxed and enjoying himself, showing hopefully the horrible trolls what a truly great guy he is, which we have all known for years.
Bouncy really really really gets on my nerves. That was the only downside of the whole day.
But well done everyone who took part and donated, amazing amount raised for a fabulous cause :)

Andy's main residence is in the UK, so he will pay tax on everything he earns throughout the year and probably top rate tax too, it's none UK based sportsmen and women that have to worry about the UK tax-man wanting his cut of the money they earn around the world throughout the year mainly through sponsorship when they appear in the UK
I think Andy had already given his prize money before bouncy's idiocy

I think though that as Andy is presumably classed as a self-employed person, the donation will be tax deductable?! My brother does loads of sponsorship cos it helps his tax bill .....

not if it is a Gift Aid donation, as the charity is claiming the tax paid by the donator, isn't it?
The only real downside for me was that they only played a partial set CZ vs UK- I would have loved two. I was amused by the celebs, but not really that fussed. I only hope that they do it again.

I do not have to put up with Bouncy Castle's commentary but my intuition tells me that he has a sense of entitlement, which deep down he knows he is not entitled to have, but which Andy is, hence his ultimate resentment.

Enjoyed all fun of the charity match but was a bit cheesed off with BBC and Andrew Castle was just awful. To see Andy so relaxed and totally enjoying himself with Tim was lovely. Thought Lendl and Berdych were brilliant also and I could watch Andy's leaps of delight when he hit Ivan over and over. Great day all round with Andy winning and then the fun. Ross is such an inspiration and such a lovely young man. I pray that he will be in complete good health soon.
First US Open win for 43 years is something special, even if it is not "your sport". ...
Rory McIlroy won the US Open Golf in 2011; Graeme McDowell won it in 2010. They're both from Northern Ireland (part of the UK).
It is true that Justin Rose was the first Englishman to win it since Tony Jacklin in 1970.

I know. I watched all of them. And I literally cried for Rory. I should have put English. I celebrate British victories, and English victories (and Yorkshire and Bradford (see the footy thread) and my bairro in Lisbon...). We all can go up and down (geographically) in terms of our allegiances! I will be supporting England in the Commonwealth Games
Guilty of not explicitly putting England but the original issue raised was why there wasn't more coverage of Andy in the papers and I think that was clearly the reason.
