I watched it yesterday--excellent. I rather missed it. I'm fed up with the new Dr Who--I still miss David Tennant.
No spoilers please - we always record it but have watched last night's - does not disappoint - unlike Dr Who which I gave up on ages ago. Bring back Russell T Davies the writer. Like Matt Smith but the plots are awful. Sorry gone off topic..........:shamed:

I won't say anything apart from saying it brilliant.

I still miss David Tennant. Best Doctor ever! Matt is good but he not as good as David Tennant was.

Finally managed to watch Merlin - brilliant - can't wait for next week - loved the final scene/dialogue (there, no spoilers Pat!)
Off Topic: I miss David Tennant too - Matt Smith is very good at some things, but lacks the emotional range of DT, and I've been disappointed with Steven Moffat after having high hopes of him - it was better under Russell T. Plots have become too convoluted, which would be ok excpet you get the feeling it's just done for dramatic effect, not because it's needed to tell the story. It's sad when your favourite program starts letting you down

I agree that it was much better when Russel T. did the plots. Since the Christmas special which I found most disapointing, I've rarely watched Dr Who since. As an actor,Matt isn't a patch on David T.
By the way I've watched Dr. W. for many, many years. I thnk David is the best one ever.
Use to love Dr.Who but lately it has gone a bit off the boil for me & can be quite confusing:confused:.......MERLIN I just Love everything about it!!:)

Me too! I can't wait to see how they solve this problem and how Merlin do it. I WANT Arthur find out Merlin is magic some time (I hope it ever happens some time in future).
I agree with you, DT much more emotional and feel more connected to programme. Also Russell I think better story teller and plan more cos he gives mini clues and mini hints whole series before final episode in series, building up without going over top and easy follow.

I love Merlin. :) I've watched every episode and I was really excited when the adverts came on for a fourth series. This series seems amazing! :yahoo:
As for Doctor Who... I haven't seen very many of the episodes of this series. I really like Matt Smith but I think they may have gone a bit over the top with the stories, so much so no-one can understand it anymore :(

Me too - it's way overdue IMO - and I just really hope they do a good job of it when it happens, cos it could make for the best episode ever if they get it right :big grin:

Yep it would be IF they do it and properly. I just hope Arthur doesn't do anything stupid when he finds out about Merlin.
I have a feeling that Arthur may do something stupid but will get over it when he finds out about the magic. Perhaps he will be forced to send him away or rashly send him away and then regret it... regardless I cannot wait till the secret is finally revealed! Only so often Arthur can fall unconscious at the convenient times!
Merlin has taken over from Doctor Who by quite some distance as my favourite Saturday tea-time show. It's a shame that DW has lost it's way a bit at the moment with all that over-plotting. Maybe next season - assuming there is one after all the BBC cutbacks.

...Great atmospheric filming ...
We visited Puzzlewood in Monmouthshire a couple of months ago, where some of the woodland scenes in Merlin are filmed, and you can see why it looks so fantastic in the program - amazing place! We even recognised one of the paths from Saturday's program :)

Closest to a hug! Is it too much to ask for a hug between them? As opposed to a rub of the head and arm around the shoulder? (still sweet)

I love them both (esp Arthur ;))
Of course he'll be back, yes they are taking liberties with the Arthurian legend, but they won't go that far.

Let's hope you're right - cos of course he just disappeared rather than having dagger through him like whatserface - forgotten already!
Another filming location Merlin used in the last couple of episodes was the wonderful Raglan Castle. It really does look like it belongs in myth and legend. Slightly oddly, the knights lit a fire on top of the well down at the bottom end of this courtyard (where the people in blue are sitting).

So sad about him! I am not sure if he is really dead. He just walk into that.
Let's hope you're right - cos of course he just disappeared rather than having dagger through him like whatserface - forgotten already!
Plus, couldn't he have those blue lights or whatever roaming around him... maybe he could be saved by them? Unlike Morgeause he wasn't seriously injured... living in hope!
Sad episode of Merlin but so well acted! I didn't expect him to die so soon and gutting how it was Merlin who tried to help him but Morgana made it backfire! Makes Arthur hate magic even more though he admires Merlin even more! How ironic! Argh! Kind of dreading when he finds out about Merlin's magic now because I think Arthur may overreact at first!
Oh I'm sure Arthur won't find out about Merlin till the moment is right. Or there'll be a whole episode about it where Arthur starts out against him and ends up for him............if it ever happens. Given they've commissioned another series my guess is they'll keep dragging it out unless they can find a new topic of suspense and intrigue.

I haven't seen any of this series yet so will have a Merlin Marathon during the week while I am off work. :)
OMG! Merlin was awesome this week!
That relationship between Atrthur and Merlin is awesome and hilarious! Merlin looking for woodworms! Arthur ignorant. Merlin pulling down Arthur's trousers. Each other saving each other's lives!
I love Merlin's power as the dragonlord! My favourite line and how it was delivered of all series' was
I am the last dragonlord and I am warning you! Leave this egg alone!
Go Merlin!
And the new dragonlord Aithusa is adorable and will save camelot! What better thing :)

That was fab! I really enjoyed it and it soooo funny!
Ending was funny too highlight here: Arthur forcing poor Merlin get training and like that Arthur still like Merlin poor cleaning/cooking, etc job over perfect job other man. :highlight end.
Thought that yesterday's episode was awesome though getting annoyed at the influence Agravaine seems to have over Arthur for Arthur to suspect Gaius! Was more wavering listening to Agravaine though! Love that priest guy allying with Merlin!
Was LOLing all over the place with Merlin pulling Arthur out of bed! Hilarious! That line where Merlin said Gaius wouldn't leave without saying goodbye was heartwrenching! And the final talk between Arthur and Gaius gives me a bit of hope that Arthur will eventually see sense to accept Merlin and his magic!

I love Merlin think this series so far is fantastic. Would love to be in it even as an extra!
Arthur is a bit of a muppet constantly surrounding himself with people who want to kill him. I wonder if he will ever find out the truth about Merlin, Gaius gave him a pretty broad hint in Saturday's episode

I reckon Morgana might meet her 'end' before Christmas.
:)
I doubt that tbh, and I'd be very upset for all sorts of shallow reasons!

Well there could be replacement totty, as there was in Robin Hood when Marion left - although I never felt the replacement quite came up to the same standard (mind you that's a woman's point of view!).

Lol, funny mistake. :)
Looks like to been working your brain too hard.
Not sure this episode was AS good as the rest but still great fun! My main reaction was though nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Spoilers: Merlin was sooooooooooo close to doing magic in front of Gwen and then Arthur came. So close to Gwen probably accepting it. Was waiting with bated breath and then... no magic! End spoilers
Lancelot is back next week... wooooooooo! But from the sounds of it he's either evil, posessed or it's not really him... gutted!
For some odd reason I felt this episode was about trust. The trust of Gaius to Merlin and in some ways building him up to the King's advisor role. Slight begining of changing of the guard? I do feel it is slowly building up to Merlin's reveal what with Gaius' hints
Speedy Hawk
20-11-2011, 12:53
That was very interesting one. Poor Merlin being unfair treated even though it not Knights fault.
I am half not looking forward to Lancelot next week cos I DON'T want him to be bad and try kill Arthur or hurt him or whatever he trying to do. I hope at end Merlin sorted it, that Arthur won't think bad of Lancelot.
Thought the story line was a bit weak and samey this week but like the hints Gaius is dropping.

Wow! Amazing episode! So emotional and really tugged at the heartstrings. Made me so sad. Poor Arthur, poor Gwen, poor Merlin and poor Lancelot! But what a beautiful ending! Some bits of humour too though. Like Agrawaine said Arthur didn't need Gwen as he had him! LOL!
Bit of a spoiler well not really but just in case about Gwen
Start: Gwen is back in episode 11 (2 episodes time) so not too long to see her End

I hope Morgana isn't trying ruin Gwen more with magic cos it hard to tell if it magic or it her being that way.
Half me want Arthur know she been control by magic to turn against him cos he know she didn't betray him, other half me don't want Arthur to know cos it make him hate magic more cos it being using against Gwen and him.

Yup - it's a bit of a quandry I agree.
Why do all good programmes seem to be ending at Xmas just when we'll all need a good cheer up in January with the weather and the post Xmas blues?
Isn't there normally a lot of new programmes, or new series of popular programmes, starting in January? I don't normally watch TV but with no tennis on I've been perusing the TV Guide this past week and haven't seen much worth watching, apart from a docu-drama about Leonardo da Vinci.

It was awesome. The finale next Saturday promised to be a cracker.
I hope the dragon gets Morgana!
:grrr:
I hope it doesn't... she is tottiemungous.
Wow! Wow! Wow! That was AMAZING! Loved the role reversal of Merlin and Arthur! Poor Arthur and his reaction to Agravaine! Question is will Agravaine turn good in the end? He was showing signs of wavering in that episode. My brother reckons he will. Loved seeing Gwen and Merlin's mum back! Hope the mum stays safe! There were parts which had me in tears like Elyan's torturing. Good on Gwaine!
Bring on the dragons!!!!!! Is the white one back too? Hope so :)

Kilgarra is a rubbish dragon dad!

Wow! What a finale! Gwen and Arthur finally married! Merlin helping Arthur keep the faith! And who on earth would have seen Aithusa helping Morgana?!? Evil white dragon!
According to Merlin wiki (http://merlin.wikia.com/wiki/Aithusa)
In the legends, Merlin saw the red dragon kill the white dragon after a long and gory duel. The red dragon is the symbol of Camelot and the white dragon is the symbol of the Saxons.
Wonder if that is a sign of things to come
