Muzzah versus Funky Flo.
Andy leads their H2H (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Players/Head-To-Head.aspx?pId=MB02&oId=MC10) by 1-0 having beaten the German player with a weird scoreline of 1'6, 6'1, 6'1 at the Rome Masters Quarter-Final in 2011.
Mayer, currently ranked 26, somehow reached the top 20 back in 2011 on the back of one ATP Tour title (his first and only one) at Bucharest and was a Finalist at Munich a week later. He's managed to stay in the 20's mostly from a few runs to QF and SF at ATP250's but hasn't performed particularly well in 2013 apart from in the last 2 weeks where he reached the SF in Bucharest and lost in the QF of Munich to Tommy Haas. Safe to say his best surface is clay.
Muzzah needs to win this match to settle his 'clay feet' and make inroads into the Madrid tournament where he has chance to regain the #2 world ranking from Roger Federer.
Fingers crossed ........
:GBflag:
The match will be played on Tuesday 7th May, 4th on Centre Court approx 4pm UK time.

:yahoo: Well done Andy!
Phew..........that was testing(for me)..............Well Done Andy!!!!
Well done Andy.
400th career win
Not so elementary for Andy ;) What a battle to get his 400th win but he's a fighter. :boogie::yahoo:
Hey Good win Andy!! Made you work hard for it but a great win to start the tournament! Excellent!!!!
Some quotes from Andy's interview on Sky.
Didn't read his serve well which is the only thing disappointed him but moved way way better than Monte Carlo. Very difficult player to play unlike any other on tour. He got sick after Monte Carlo, possibly trained too hard. Expects a difficult match with Simon.
Joking with Petch about his 400 wins on tour "just a couple more than Petch". He remembered his first win against Ventura at Queens.

I had to dash off as soon as the match finished. That was a bit :sofa: wasn't it?
I'm not sure I liked Gilles Simon sitting watching, taking note of things that caused Andy problems. . .
Hmmmm Sky+ didn't work probably because the programme had already started before I set it remotely :grrr: Considering the amount Sky charges it really does have a number of shortcomings.
Fortunately I did catch the last service game and tie breaker - enough for me I think, judging by the comments on here. Well done Andy.

The match was more or less over by the time I was back (though will see recording later)and it was a was a bit nervewracking following livescores! By all accounts not Andy's best performance and really tough but he still found a way to get through in straights against a tricky opponent, well done! Andy will need to step it up though but sure he can rise to the ocassion. Simon next who he usually masters.

If Giles doesn't know Andy's strong and weak points by now he never will.
Good to see Andy fighting his way to a win. It wasn't easy, Mayer played well but Andy is so strong mentally now, although he obviously struggled for breath once or twice. Don't like saying it but he should be OK against Simon ...fingers and toes firmly crossed.
GO ANDY GO GO GO
was trying to do several things at once towards the end of the match.
Well done Andy for coming through a tricky test.
Sounded like a tough match but a win is a win. Have no time to watch any tennis this week but hope Andy gets far.
Well done Andy and congrats on the 400th match win. :bravo:
Congrats Andy on a battling win - and the 400th! Great achievement. Had to try and follow on live scores for the first set then catch up via Twitter once I got home. Kind of glad I didn't actually watch it - sounds a bit nerve wracking! But a win is a win, and on to the 3rd round we go. Hopefully Andy is finding his clay feet, and adjusting to the altitude.
