View Full Version : Bubble Gap 2013 - French Open: Deadline Sun 26th May 10am UK time
It's been a rather lacklustre clay season (clay court specialists:rolleyes:) but at least it's coming to an end soon. One small matter of Roland Garros :roland:stands in the way before we get to the green grass. :baguette::pierre:
As always rules and leaderboard are posted here (http://www.andymurrayfanforum.com/forums/showthread.php?1630-Bubble-Gap-Championship-2013&p=116180&viewfull=1#post116180) (now updated with results up to Rome). The aim of this competition is to guess the bubble gap after the French Open. The current race rankings are as follows:
http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/1173/raceprefrench.png
The current bubble gap is 1310. That's Andy's score(2910) – Tsonga's score(1600) = 1310.
2 250 tournaments are running this week, Nice and Dusseldorf. Red players are playing in Nice and green in Dusseldorf. Grey players have withdrawn from Roland Garros. No player can change the bubble gap this week.
The highest possible bubble gap is 1305. That's Tsonga going out in the 1st round and no-one else overtaking him.
The smallest bubble gap is 510. This involves Gasquet winning Roland Garros and Tsonga the finalist.
So in summary, your guess is between 510 and 1305. If you don't want to do any maths then just guess a random number and see how things turn out!
Remember that you can't guess the same number as someone else and once you've posted your guess you can't change it.
Ranking points on offer for are:
R1: 10
R2: 45
R3: 90
R4: 180
QF: 360
SF: 720
F: 1200
W: 2000
Good luck to all who take part and may the best driver win! :trophy:
Deadline: Sunday 26th May, 10am UK time

PS I think the highest possible BG is actually 1305, unless Tsonga withdraws - if he goes out in the first round, he'll still overtake DelPo

 You're right, thanks for pointing that out. Was typing this out in a hurry this morning so didn't check it over.
Just remembered before I leave work for a half day and travelling up the M6 on a pre bank holiday Friday to a cottage with no internet access.
I'll go for the maximum 1305 - surely Gasquet won't reach Round 4 or Almagro the quarters

Lol, sorry Linda! Seems like we are thinking the same thing - I was going to go for something in Madrid but you had beaten me to it so went for another route!

A bit late but I'll accept it.
14 drivers including new driver banskogirl turn up for the final clay race of the season in Paris. Weather forecast looks a bit iffy so let's get started as soon as possible.
Returning driver Yorkie tops qualifying followed by cazza99.
Current leader Linda comes 3rd followed by Rome champion Elenive.
Genbrit and DaveArneRiise start on the 3rd row, Manaus and jaysee on the 4th with banskogirl and Golden Lady filling the rest of the top 10.
Hopefully the race will start soon, no rain clouds yet.

Lovely weather we're having, feel free to munch on a bread stick while we're waiting, there's plenty to go round. :breadstick:
After a long rain delay the race finally gets underway.
We probably should have waited for the track to dry a bit first though as within a few turns Yorkie is seen performing what appears to be the biggest drift ever seen in BG history. The stewards look on impressed until on closer inspection they see Yorkie in a bit of a panic and realisation dawns that he's actually sliding out of control...http://freeemoticonsandsmileys.com/animated%20emoticons/Funny%20Animated%20Emoticons/danger%20driving.gif
Unfortunately for cazza99 (who was close behind) she crunches into the wreckage that is Yorkie's car. Linda narrowly avoids the debris but Elenive and Genbrit break through in the process.
So ah, safety car then? Yes, let's do that...
Muppets strike again - can't believe Gasquet went and ruined it for me. Now if Haas was to cause even more carnage I'd be amazed so I think we probably have our final positions - but you never know.
The safety car comes out for a good chunk of the race as attempts are made to clear the car wreckage as quickly as possible. It becomes apparent though that with so much debris it's going to take most of the race to clear out so the stewards decide to call the race there.

Well done to Elenive, Genbrit and Linda, particularly to Elenive for getting the exact bubble gap. Finally done with the devil dirt and onto some lovely green grass. :) See you at Wimbledon. :wimbrolly:

Lost 20 points due to not getting my entry in early enough! :crying: Must be quicker off the mark next time!
Well done Elenive & Genbrit
And thanks again, Manaus
Woohoo! First exact bubble gap win and two wins in a row!!
Oh, sorry Linda but it is a race! Although if it's any consolation I was going to go for the same guess you did for Madrid but couldn't as you beat me to it, and you won that!
Good job Genbrit and Linda as well as Dave and Manaus as you were very close too!!
Very much looking forward to the Grass now (always the best part of the season!!!) :grass:
I like the clay best - nearly over now
