MEN'S SINGLES QUALIFYING

QR1: (wc) David Rice WR 501 v Sebastian Rieschick (GER) UNR (CH 199 in 2011) - 3rd on C13

I think this will be Rieschick's first match for 15 months (I skimmed this week's ATP & Challenger Q draws and didn't see him), so probalby a lucky draw for Dave, not that he doesn't deserve it! :-) Seeds in the order he would potentially have to beat them to qualify are (q24) Cipolla and (q2) Sock.

QR1: (wc) Lewis Burton WR 675 v Dustin Brown (GER) WR 189 (CH 89 in 2011) - 2nd on C13

Dustin lost to Dan Cox in Nottingham this week, so you never know! The closest seed is (q5) Vesely.

QR1: (wc) Alex Bogdanovic WR 272 v Marek Semjan (SVK) WR 279 (CH 218 in 2010) - 2nd on C14

In the same section as Lewis. The closest seed to Boggo is (q18) Sugita.

QR1: (wc) Jamie Baker WR 295 v (q17) Matteo Viola (ITA) WR 135 (CH 118 in Mar) - 1st on C13

Viola has lost 8 of his last 9 matches, is certainly not a grass court specialist and, more to the point, Jamie has a 2-0 record against him including a win in QR2 at this year's Australian Open. (q7) Struff is the other seed in this section.

QR1: (wc) Ed Corrie WR 330 v (q9) Illya Marchenko (UKR) WR 123 (CH 67 in 2010) - 3rd on C13

The other seed in this section is (q29) Wang.

QR1: (wc) Josh Goodall WR 289 v Samuel Groth (AUS) WR 232 (CH 189 in Mar) - 2nd on C15

H2H is 0-3 including Queen's qualifying last weekend, but Josh did take his first set off Groth there so maybe he is getting closer ...

QR1: (wc) Dan Evans WR 277 v (q25) Daniel Munoz-De La Nava (ESP) WR 144 (CH 123 in Apr) - 2nd on C15

Dan is in the same section as Josh, where the other seed (the closest one to Josh in the draw is (q11) Przysiezny.

QR1: (wc) Joshua Ward-Hibbert WR 855 v Alex Kuznetsov (USA) WR 175 - 3rd on C14

The seeds in this section are (q26) Andreozzi & (q14) Bachinger.

It's going to be tough for GB to get its first qualifier since 2008 but there are chances, I would say - I've certainly seen worse Wimbledon qualifying draws from a GB point of view!

MEN's DOUBLES QUALIFYING

DQR1: Ed Corrie & Neal Skupski v (q1) Dustin Brown (GER) & Rameez Junaid (AUS) - 5th on C16

The other seeds in this section are (q8) Levine & Pospisil.

DQR1: Lewis Burton & Dan Evans v (q7) Steven Johnson (USA) & Andreas Siljestrom (SWE) - 5th on C14

The other seeds in this section are (q2) Groth & Guccione.

DQR1: (q6) Brydan Klein & Dane Propoggia (AUS) v Andreas Haider-Maurer (AUT) & Jiri Vesely (CZE) - 5th on C13

The other seeds in this section are (q4) Raja & Sharan.

So Dan still has to qualify? They didn't give him a wild card to the main draw? I really think they should have done - hero of Davis Cup and all that.

Hawkeye

Was there not something somewhere about him not getting a wild card in to the main draw because he was outside the top 200, or did I imagine that?

Yeah

Agree completely, he deserved a wild card to the main draw, yes he helped saved us in the DC Russia tie but he also did quite well at queens - Queens obviously being a grass court event you would think this would have earned him a wild card for the main draw at Wimbledon... many of the commies at queens mentioned this too. A wild card for the qualifies isn't much really, though least it's a start... wishing him all the best for next week!

Much worse draws for the GB women than for the GB men in general:

QR1: (wc) Katy Dunne WR 964 v (q24) Nastassja Burnett (ITA) WR 150 (CH 131 in May) - 3rd on Court 6

Burnett reached the SFs in Nottingham before getting convincingly beaten by Bally. The other seed in this section is (q2) Voskoboeva.

QR1: (wc) Naomi Broady WR 358 v Stéphanie Dubois (CAN) WR 138 (CH 87 in 2012) - 2nd on Court 14

The seeds in this section are (q3) Garcia & (q24) Nara.

QR1: (wc) Emily Webley-Smith WR 412 v (q23) Tadeja Majeric (SLO) WR 130 (= CH) - 2nd on Court 15

The Slovenian took Bally to 2 close sets in the Nottingham Final. The other seed in this section is (q4) Hercog.

QR1: (wc) Jade Windley WR 389 v Tereza Mrdeza (CRO) WR 163 (CH 151 in Apr) - 1st on Court 16

The seeds in this section are (q18) Karatantcheva & (q7) Meusburger.

QR1: (wc) Anna Smith WR 741 v (q16) Anna Schmiedlova (SVK) WR 119 (= CH) - 2nd on Court 16

The other seed in this section is (q9) Pfizenmaier.

QR1: (wc) Lisa Whybourn WR 258 v (q10) Vania King (USA) WR 113 (CH 50 in 2006) - 2nd on Court 13

The other seed in this section is (q17) Zahlavova-Strycova.

QR1: (wc) Amanda Carreras WR 322 v (q15) Teliana Pereira (BRA) WR 123 (CH 116 in Feb) - 3rd on Court 14

H2H 0-1 - that 1 & 2 thrashing in the Buenos Aires 25K Final towards the end of last year. The other seed in this section is (11) Duque-Marino.

QR1: (wc) Melanie South WR 589 v Shahar Peer (ISR) WR 168 (CH 11 in 2011) - 3rd on Court 16

Peer reached R4 at Wimbledon in 2008. The seeds in this section are (q12) M Sanchez & (q19) Larcher de Brito.

QR1: (wc) David Rice WR 465 beat Sebastian Rieschick (GER) UNR (CH 199 in 2011) by 3 & 2 :)
QR1: (wc) Lewis Burton WR 674 lost to Dustin Brown (GER) WR 187 (CH 89 in 2011) by 4 & 3
QR1: (wc) Alex Bogdanovic WR 274 beat Marek Semjan (SVK) WR 280 (CH 218 in 2010) by 7-6(5) 6-3 :)
QR1: (wc) Jamie Baker WR 304 beat (q17) Matteo Viola (ITA) WR 138 (CH 118 in Mar) by 4-6 6-3 6-4 :)
QR1: (wc) Ed Corrie WR 336 lost to (q9) Illya Marchenko (UKR) WR 120 (CH 67 in 2010) by 6-4 5-7 7-5
QR1: (wc) Josh Goodall WR 303 lost to Samuel Groth (AUS) WR 230 (CH 189 in Mar) by 6-4 7-6(6)
QR1: (wc) Dan Evans WR 254 lost to (q25) Daniel Munoz-De La Nava (ESP) WR 147 (CH 123 in Apr) by 6-1 3-6 6-2
QR1: (wc) Joshua Ward-Hibbert WR 774 lost to Alex Kuznetsov (USA) WR 173 by 4 & 4

3 through QR1 is about average for recent years. I hoped/expected the three winners would win (Dave because this was his opponent's first ranked match for over a year, Jamie because of his 2-0 H2H and Viola's poor recent form and I thought Boggo had a decent chance) but Evo's loss was a bit of a disappointment. The four losses were all pretty much expected - if anything, they (especially Ed) got closer than I thought they would.

QR2: (wc) David Rice WR 465 v (q24) Flavio Cipolla (ITA) WR 140 (CH 70 in 2012) - 5th on Court 16

QR2: (wc) Alex Bogdanovic WR 274 v Evgeny Korolev (KAZ) WR 175 (CH 46 in 2010) - 4th on Court 16 n/b 15.00 BST

QR2: (wc) Jamie Baker WR 304 v Igor Kunitsyn (RUS) WR 208 (CH 35 in 2009) - 4th on Court 14 n/b 15.00 BST

H2H 1-2 but Jamie won their last meeting 6 & 3 at last year's Athens Challenger, so must surely fancy his chances here. The Russian only seems to be playing one event per month this year.

Sad to say that's all of the Brits out of the Men's singles qualifying after the 2nd round

Possible to have Brits in the Women's doubles, but those matches haven't been played yet - fingers crossed! But in terms of the qualifying for the men's and women's singles, and men's doubles, no luck this year :crying:

Not exactly gone to plan in the qualifying this year as thought a few might have made in the singles, disappointing. oh well maybe it'll work out in the women's doubles.Pity of course that Dan couldn't build on the success at Queen's but of course also others who might have stepped up.
