Hey everyone,
So, as some of you may know, Roland Garros was too last-minute and I didn't have time to prepare... But, this time I'm ready. The entry form will be available at T3nnisStats (http://t3nnisstats.webs.com/) after the draw ceremony takes place on Friday!
Hopefully Steve will help out by announcing it on Twitter or on some of the sites that I'm not a member of. *fingers crossed*
Speaking of which, are any of you members of the usual sites that BOTB used to get entrants from? Like GBTG for example? If so, your help in making the announcement for Wimbledon would be GREATLY appreciated! :)
I hope you'll participate! The more that enter the better it is! ;)
Cheers
Is this going to be for both mens and womens?

Men's only @Helen40, like Steve's done in the past... as far as I know anyway!

I'll have a look at this. Did it run Ok at RG?
Also, if you want to invite members of the old pickem boards, they are all linked to here

@DrewZiph, it ran fine. There were kinks along the way but I fixed them usually almost right away. Have a look for yourself at T3nnisStats (http://t3nnisstats.webs.com/). All the links from RG are still there!
I'm aware of all the previous entrants but have no way to reach them unless I join all the forums, which it looks like I may have to end up doing anyway.
Maybe you could ask Steven if he would send a tweet and also an email round to previous BOTB entrants who have requested email reminders.

I already have actually. Waiting on a reply. He's understandably busy... :/ At this point in time, I don't think I can count on him. I have to assume he'll be too busy to even notice I've contacted him. So, I'll be joining all the forums over the next few days posting an announcement as best as I can and again, any help you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated! :)
I'm happy to announce on britishtennis.activeboard.

Me neither how do you do it?
Me neither how do you do it?
Basically you're given the draw and you have to predict the winner of each match from round 1 to the final. You get points for each correct guess you make and later rounds are worth more. If you've ever played the ATP bracket challenge it's pretty much the same thing.
Steven up until the Aus Open 2013 ran a pickem comp at his website here (http://www.britishtennis.net/Competitions.html) but is busy so can't run anymore this year. This one that T3nnisFan is running is a replacement for the Pick Em.

It was fine for me. Retry, or maybe try a different browser
Maybe the system automatically rejects unwise picks (only joking).

There's a countdown on the main page: T3nnisStats (http://T3nnisStats.webs.com/)
I'm not sure of the start time but like Manaus said, it's around 11:30AM.
The countdown was set for 11AM but don't worry; I'll only cut off entries when play starts. That's the real deadline! Isn't that how Steven did it? ;)
Done my picks! :big grin:
System worked absolutely fine for me, although it was just that the seeding, Q, W and LL markings were not always consistent throughout for the player in question, or it gave an incorrect marking for a player in a later round match. Other than that though, was nice and easy, good job! :)

I've put 11am in the thread title - just to alert folk really, otherwise it's really easy to miss a deadline.
Just done mine but there are some strange goings on (apart from my weird picks and how they've worked out!!) - e.g. some of the seeds, like Djokovic, when playing a Q, then become the Q. So I picked Nole to win against the Q in the first round and then it was Nole who had the Q against his name in the second round. That happened for quite a few players who were playing a Q. As for Ferrer he went from being seeded 4 to not being a seed at all........gremlins?

That's really odd! I'd be very interested in knowing what browser you were using?
The "W", "Q" & "L" all work fine for me... I unfortunately can't test on some browsers...
Anyway, as long as you get to the confirmation page and all your picks are listed there, that's what really matters. But, quality & accuracy is important too so if Elenive/WimbledonAce can give me more info on your browser/operating system, it would go a long way in helping me help you! :)
I never noticed any of these anomalies when doing my pics! #unobservant

Thank you all for your reports! I admit, I did most of my testing on Chrome so naturally, it'll work fine on Chrome. I'll make a note to that effect on the site and entry form (for now until I test more for latter tourneys).
On Firefox, I see what you guys mean! Oye! :/ But, yeah that was just to make things nice. It's not a big issue when it comes to the picks themselves.
I have NO COMMENTS for Internet Explorer users! :P j/k I'll look into that browser too but IE is a pain tbh :/
Well it worked fine on IE apart from the seeds, G, W and L being a little inconsistent, not a problem at all so probably not worth looking into sorting the problem on IE if it's too much of a pain for you

Care to explain why? Is it lack of an Andy pic or dislike for Federer?
Done mine, many thanks T3nnisFan!
I missed out one match on my first attempt so it rejected my entry, but luckily I had printed the page before submitting (having been well-trained by Steven!) so it was easy to redo my picks.
T3nnisFan
23-06-2013, 19:35
Alternatively, you can also hit the "Back" button on your browser and it should have retained all your selections/entries. That way you can fill what's missing and hit the "Submit Picks" button again ;)
When I hit back it had cleared all the names but left the radio buttons on, so I wasn't sure whether it would still 'know' what the names were. I hit F5 (refresh) and it then cleared everything. (Chrome)
T3nnisFan
23-06-2013, 19:42
I couldn't find a solution for that... But, the info is retained! If anyone is reading this and gets the same issue, it's still there!!! lol
Actually, if you had clicked any of the radio buttons, all the names would reappear!
F5 would clear everything, yes... Doh! hehe
But, glad you got it printed at least :)
I think I'll go put a note on the website...

All was good when I used chrome, think it is the way forward for me now!
Steven had a counter for matches still to pick at the bottom of the page so you can easily check if that has reached zero - I don't know how easy that would be to do?
:thanks: for all the work you've put in to this.
I didn't realise that when you clicked on a player it showed the H2H against his opponent! Very clever!

I totally forgot about that! I loved that feature! I'm going to try and incorporate it now! :excited:
I entered it and it wouldn't accept my first entry as there was a pick missing. I had to fill it all out again. So the counter would have been useful.
Its a good job I had had my dinner when I saw the pic too.
A couple of things that would be useful if this pickem was developed futher.
a. head to heads for all rounds and not just the first round.
b. an analysis as you fill the picks in, like the bracket challenge.

a) It was in deed my goal to do it for all rounds! But couldn't find a solution in time. It seems a bit more complicated at this time to do it.
b) Do you mean the percentages/H2H pop-up they have?
I don't think there was a pic there when I did mine
b) I meant percentages of other pickem peeps. You have the analysis of picks in a separate table like botb. Inthe ATP bracket challenge you get them automatically while you do your picks.
I am afraid Roger Federer is not very popular with many members of this forum, although there are a few who like him.

That's what I thought on both counts...
It certainly would be nice to have those features wouldn't it? I'll try to make it happen for the USOpen. ;)
As for you Non-Fed fans, I'm sorry but he is the 7-time former winner of this fabulous tournament and although he was the single man to stop Andy last year (I really do sympathize with you on that; I had tears too and I'm not even a Brit or a Scot!), he is, afterall, the defending champion! So, as I did for RG, where Rafa is the undisputed King of Clay and I had his pics all over, you'll have to contend with Roger for this one! :P
Buuuuuuuuuut, you'll ALL be happy to know that as Andy is the defending champ as the US Open, you'll get plenty of him then! :GBflag:
Maybe you chose not to see it! :P Or blocked it out of your memory altogether! haha
Yes, I think Linda subconsciously blocked it!!!! I saw it and had the same thoughts as the previous posters. The only consolation about going Thursday when Andy is not playing is that I won't have to see Fed or listen to his fans, although is it my imagination or does he seem to be mellowing in his old age!!!

Guys, I need a favour from you, please.
I haven't gotten much sleep. So, I will unfortunately need to take a nap and am afraid I might miss the start of play and therefore not be able to take off the entry form in time. I just need someone to tweet me or msg here or indicate somewhere exactly what time (UK time will do) the 1st game of the 1st match has concluded so that if anyone sends their entry form thereafter, I know that theirs won't count.
Hope that makes sense!
Thanks in advance :)

Think I'm going to end day 1 with 24/34 or 70%, which should fall right into the 'average' category.
I've had a dreadful day. I always do badly in the Wimbly pick'em. We ought to have RG four times a year!

Sorry for your loss Linda. If we had 4 Rg's a year, Rafa would be the GOAT & #1 for maybe a decade straight and make a joke of the whole ATP Tour altogether! lol
I'm really shocked at that result though... Maybe not as much due to what happened last year....
Anyway, here's what I've put up so far:
- Pick % (http://t3nnisfan.host-ed.me/WB/Picks_Distribution.htm)
- All entries & stats (http://t3nnisfan.host-ed.me/WB/Entrant_Statistics.htm)
I have a preliminary picks section here (http://t3nnisfan.host-ed.me/WB/Picks.htm) but realizing that I was missing most of the entrants, tried to change something and now I have a big problem so you guys might not see the results before going to bed tonight. Sorry :/
You're lucky that alphabetically you come first! lol
Hopefully might be slightly above average - I think I had 9 minority picks, of which 5 were right, for a total of 23/32.
By a coincidence, I've got 9 minority picks again in the top half, of which the riskiest (17.2%) is Istomin to beat Seppi.
I've had a dreadful day. I always do badly in the Wimbly pick'em. We ought to have RG four times a year!
 Sorry to hear that Linda. Although I've got the impression you're a huge clay court tennis fan so I'm guessing you have an intense knowledge of all the player's clay court abilities. Wimbledon, being on grass, is always quite unpredictable and because of that, I think, really quite fun to watch!

Actually Drew, it's 24/32 and that 75% puts you quite high as you can see in the results page and since you're tied with tasha_mcl for the most potential correct picks still on the table for the next round, I think you're looking pretty good! ;)

Do you mean moving it above the "sort by score" and "by team" options? If so, no, I think it works better as is.
Also, I don't think you need " PICKS" and "PICK % DISTRIBUTION" under the by 'round heading', as these don't change over time like the league tables etc.
I think a big feature you could add (probably for a later tournament), would be to link your twitter updates to the page, like on the BOTB page. This means you can keep people updated on the homepage and broadcast it to them via twitter at the same time. You currently don't have a link to your twitter on the site. (You may want to separate your personal twitter from the competition one!)
I seem to have lost almost everyone in the bottom half today

I seem to have lost almost everyone in the bottom half today
I think most people have. A lot of heavy favourites are out (Fed, Tsonga, Cilic today, Rafa Wawrinka Tipsarevic already out in 1st round).
I scored 9/16 which normally would be very poor. Got a feeling its going to be one of the higher scores today though.

Certainly way better than my 6/16!:wimcry:Just three players left in this half for R3 - Almagro, Monaco and Andy.
Tomorrow 11 of the 16 matches have 89% or higher picks, so won't make much difference at this stage to the pickem standings even if the carnage continues! They are Djokovic, Haas, Gasquet, Anderson, Berdych, Ferrer, Dolgopolov, Raonic, Nishikori, Dimitrov & Del Potro.
The swing matches are:
Struff 0.64% v Chardy 70.06%
Floppy 54.78% v PHM 1.27%
Blake 4.46% v Tomic 20.38%
Kudla 1.91% v Dodig 9.55%
Llodra 28.03% v Seppi 51.59%
Since these matches are all dead for me apart from Blake, I'd better go buy some bananas!!
Yes, I think I have all of those 11 and most of the other matches are already dead for me
I've got Chardy, Floppy and Llodra of the swing matches and all of the other 11.
I have the 11 plus Tomic and Dodig so come on you two plus Struff, PHM and LLodra for a bit of damage limitation

Thank you Drew!
Yes, I did mean that. I'm going to try to make it stick so that as you scroll, you'll still that info. It'll be a bit like the entry form where you had access to the buttons at the bottom at all times.
Agreed about the Picks & Picks %!
I've actually tried doing that already (several times might I add) but it won't work. :( I might just make a page where I put all the updates there. I'm actually thinking of opening a forum right there so we can have these lovely discussions all on the same spot! ;) All in due time...

I seem to have lost almost everyone in the bottom half today
Linda, with Federer losing yesterday, I pretty much felt the same pain as you. But, on a brighter note, Murray's still in and I'm sure both of those facts make a lot of the members here very happy! :)
I sincerely hope Murray can win this one!:thumbup::GBflag:

Sorry I've been MIA. Had some internet issues :/
I've put up the update for end of Day 3. I'll upload end of Day 4 tomorrow "morning" (for you guys) ;)
Can someone please tell me how I can change my signature to reflect the links to my site/twitter? :)

a. Click on "settings" in the top right hand corner of the page
b. Scroll down and look at menu on the left and there will be an "edit signature" option.

Welcome back.. hope internet is now ok!
I have a great day yesterday. Had a feeling my 9/16 correct picks was going to be good!
I scored 8/11 today. 2 of them were dead matches anyway though, so really 8/9 possible correct. Another solid day!
Anyway, lots of tennis to look forward to tomorrow!! Hopefully I can browse todays results whilst eating breakfast tomorrow at my desk!

I think it's been long enough now... I wanted to wait until it's late for the West Coast people so that I can update to Day 4 results. It'll be up soon!
@DrewZiph; Hope you're having a late breakfast! :P

Busy morning, so lunchtime update works fine for me!
Just been looking at everyones picks. The bottom half of the draw has been absolutely obliterated. Never seen anything like it in all my Pickems life!

lol That's ... yup, that's everyone! But, I've got worse news; You're below 50% (at the moment!) but unless that changes, the gorillas will eat you and you'll have no chance of competing any further! *gasp* At least have some bananas handy to try and bribe your way out ;)

Actually being eaten by gorillas would make it worthwhile
:rolling:
It seems very odd going to my drawsheet each time a match finishes, and not needing to mark a tick or a cross because there is already a cross there (I have a lot of dead matches now!).

All my matches were dead except for 2 in Andy's half. I only have one dead match in the other half.
At this rate I'd rather be eaten by the gorillas I think - at least I'd get a noteworthy mention (albeit for the wrong reasons!).

Yes, I'm afraid. You're in 137th place; one of the 25 entrants to be suffering under Gorilla breath right now :P The round isn't over yet so some should escape in time... But, if this keeps going, the party will be happening where the Gorillas are rather than over at the top!
Updates are up!
Are the gorillas a new thing, or have I just not noticed them before??
They were always there. Sally used to be very friendly with them and buy them lots of bananas every time.

King Kong was there on the list as a kind of robot player... I just took it a tiny bit further. ;)
TEAM KO Finally up guys!

Hey guys,
I started a blog because I got tired of tweeting and running around all the sites. Commenting is ON so feel free to write something there. Please let me know if you run into any roadblocks though!
It's all in the same place!
Just had a look to see if anyone predicted Kubot or Janowicz to reach the semies - sadly no one did  would have been an epic prediction if someone had, especially as that was Rafa's/Fed's quarter!!
Tables have been updated.

Hey Guys,
Congratulations on Andy winning!
Also congrats to birdboy & cazza99 for taking home the 3rd & 4th place finishes! Well done!
Any suggestions for any honourable mentions for the competition's awards ceremony?
Here's an example: Steven finishing in the top 10 and almost winning after years of hosting BOTB!
Results will be up shortly along with the awards ;)
Well done Birdboy and Cazza! :cheer:
Did OK in the end considering all the upsets and narrowly avoided the friendly gorillas. :)
