Sad to say that I really can't bear cricket, and have absolutely no interest in whether England or Australia win. Just don't get it! Possibly a north of the Border thing...... I have a passing interest in quite a few sports apart from tennis (and quite a bit more than passing interest in football), but cricket just turns me right off and I can't bear the thought of having to listen to updates on every news bulletin for what will feel like weeks and weeks and weeks. Possibly it does go on for weeks? Sorry..... just my own personal opinion, quite understand that lots of people will be totally enthralled. There will be lots of cricket fans who feel the same about tennis!

Lots of people north of the border are cricket fans, and for the vast majority of us it's the only sport we'll support England at!

I'm sure there are. I've met a couple of them, used to work with one who was totally into it - playing, spectating, coaching. Still couldn't convert me. Don't get me wrong, I'd be pleased for England and their fans if they won. But I can't get excited about it.

Well, last Sunday I was a nervous wreck watching Andy and today was just the same watching the total creep up and the runs needed for the Aussies to win gradually going down!!. What a nail-biting finish to an extraordinary, exciting Test Match. Well done the England boys and especially Jimmy Anderson.:yahoo::cheer::clap:

Great to see Joe Root get a century - and many more -at Lords. All things being equal, he should be opening for many years to come.

Great watching the first two matches. The next Test is at Old Trafford and already the weather seems to be changing. Do remember being at Test matches there when it was hot and sunny but not recently. Weather is so important over five days so do hope the sun comes back next week.

Well, for the first four days the weather at Old Trafford was fine and Australia played extremely well but the Rain Gods who are obviously England supporters put an end to their hopes and washed out the final day. The match was drawn and England retained the Ashes. I don't usually pray for rain but did on Monday!! And no, I don't feel sorry for the Aussies. I had no pity at all....this was Australia we were playing and the Ashes were at stake. Well done England!!! Now go to Durham and win!!:clap::cheer::rain::big grin:

Congratulations to England on retaining the Ashes with the help of as supergran says the Rain Gods who were carefully watching over Old Trafford and came to the rescue of England in her hour of need. Now please go on and defeat the Aussies comprehensively in the remaining two matches. :bravo: :swingin: :swingin: :swingin:

Would love England to win the last two tests in style with both teams playing well. Also hoping players like Cook (captain's curse on the batting average?) and Trott find some form.

Well, they did it!! England have won the series after a victory at Durham today. Brilliant bowling to get them all out just before play finished for the day. Not going to single anyone out as it was a fantastic team effort. Now go the Oval and do it again!!:yahoo::clap::cheer:
