Who's going to enter for the ballot when it opens on 01st August 2013 and who's planning to go anyway?

I am certainly going to try for tickets for 2014.
At least we will know that Andy will play Mon/Weds/Fri next year, but I have a feeling that tickets are going to be even harder to come next year as Andy is Champion, I think a lot of people will want to get on the band wagon,

Always enter the ballot. Not had any tickets for 2 years and neither has my friend. Will definitely queue like we did this year if we don't get any next year.

I bought 2 last year. For women's quarters and Semi's. The men's are way out of my price range!!

My friend and I have both got big birthdays next year ..... I wonder how much a debenture ticket would be for the opening day?! Now that would be a good birthday present!!

Thanks Murray rocks. £725 per ticket for 1st day. Interestingly it is cheaper for the ladies quarter finals!! Will wait and see if we get anything in the ballot as it's a lot of money for one day!!

Yep that why i get debentures for ladies Quarters and Semi's. They are the most reasonable. I was so lucky to get men semi's in the LTA Ballot this year.

I was musing whether if you bought a Debenture holding priced at £27500 for 5 years and sold the tickets say for every other day so you could go on the Mon/Weds/ Fri/Sat the first week then go for all the mens matches the 2nd week, whether in 5 years you would make a profit on your investment???????

themass15
23-07-2013, 16:30
That's what I have been considering.

You'd have to get your mitts on a debenture first - they'll probably issue more for the next roof but for that court, as it's a form of loan. Not sure how often a debenture (second hand) would come on the market.

Linda
23-07-2013, 17:37
I wonder if mortgage lenders would be happy to lend for a debenture?

I think the current Debentures run out in 2015, so there would probably be an issue in 2016 from the AELTC

If only I had enough money to buy loads of debentures in the first place to sell them on. Would they sell at a profit though all the time? What if say like this year federer and Nadal etc want out early? But I guess by then the tickets would have been bought alreadyx all hypothetical lol

If Andy keeps making finals and semi finals you could easily sell both those tickets for combined £10000 + imo, so yeah, deff profit.

I wonder if that is for 2 tickets for the whole 13 days, otherwise it would be better to buy a Debenture at 27k because you then have the tickets for 5 years.

Can I check if this would be allowed.

If I get my brothers and sisters to enter the ballot. If they were to win the tickets would I be able to use them or are they named and would they have to be used by the person who submitted and won the application

I have never entered the ballot before so I just need to check.

Thanks

I think doing it online is to tighten up security and make sure who bought the tickets is going. I am not sure picking up the tickets on the day of play for everyone is a good idea. Can you imagine the queues!!!!

I don't think online forms are a good idea, there must be quite a few people of my age ?????? that are not computer literate. My Hubby wouldn't know how to switch mine on and doesn't have a mobile phone either.

Just read about Stakhovsky's explanation on his famous "ego" comment after beating Federer this year:

At Wimbledon you reminded us about your old rank. Tell us the secret, what did you mean by saying that when you play against Federer at Wimbledon, you fight two rivals: Roger and his own ego? You then took those words back.

- It’s not that I took them back, it’s just that I said it the wrong way. The bottom line is this: when you see Federer on the other side of the court, in the key moments of the match thoughts start climbing in your head about who you’re really playing now. This is the same man who won Wimbledon seven times on this very court, seven times! Three defeats in ten years! That’s even if you don’t think about the rest of his titles. That's what I wanted to say then.

I'm ashamed to be coming in to this debate SO late....but there were good reasons for my 'absence'!
I know not everyone can afford debenture tickets, Caro......I never imagined that I would pay that kind of money to watch an afternoon/evening of tennis until THIS year! But I lifted some of my savings and treated my sister (who was over from the US and has suffered many tragedies in her life) and myself and it was definitely worth every penny to be in great seats at the men's semis. She, like me, is a long-standing fan of Andy's and is now saying that it was the BEST day of her life.....and she is 68!! We are only here once!! Go for it!!....Isn't it just wonderful to have been a 'believer' in Andy for all those past years!? BTW are you 21 next year??

Glad you had such a wonderful time passionanda. We queued this year and got re-sales for centre court and saw all of Andy's 3rd round match. Worth all those hours of queuing, it really was.

Unfortunately, we have blown all our savings this year on renovating our house which we bought last year and needed everything doing! Will see though, you never know.

Just had another look at the Wimbledon website and at the Debenture prices. Must admit was very tempted to just buy two but can't really see Supergramps going for it. I've nothing on my credit card but still don't reckon he'd agree and when you're married there has to be an agreement when spending a lot of money.:wimbly:
