Top seed Janko Tipsarevic announced yesterday, via twitter, that he and his wife are to become parents in 2014! Unfortunately I cannot now find the tweet but it's been reported on other forums so I didn't imagine it.

RF and JJ might be an interesting match if they get through the earlier rounds!

HAMBURG
Federer beaten in the Semi-Final by WR114 Debonis 7-6(7), 7-6(4).

The Final will be between Delbonis and Fognini who earlier beat Almagro.

At least Fed got to the semis in this tournament!

Things seem to be going from bad to worse for the Fed losing to nobodies first at Wimbledon and now at Hamburg. Wonder how much his back is playing a part in what seems like a terminal demise and how many more defeats to nobodies he will be able to stomach. Sad really.

Hope Fognini wins the title. :swingin:

He's trying out a new racquet so maybe that's playing a part in his sub-par tennis?

This is his first tourny with new racket. He's lost to four players outside the top 10 this year. 2 of which were outside top 100...

Fiona , are you watching Vasek ?? 2-2 1st set vs Falla

Such a shock for Fed and new racket not paying dividends thus far, felt pretty sure he would take title with Haas out.

Roger stuffed in straight sets 7-6 7-6 by Federico Delbonis in the semi's at Hamburg. Further evidence of the decline of the Swiss champion. Don't know much about Delbonis other than he's a leftie and outside the worlds top 100. I'm starting to wonder if Federer will make New York his final event, his ego as the top dog for so long must be taking quite a shillacking right now.

Pospisil loses to Falla in 3 sets in Bogota :(

Falla's 1st final

Well most of you know that im no Federer fan but I kinda figured he would not do too well . Think hes just adjusting to the new racket , altho i do wish he would retire

It will be interesting to see if Roger keeps on with the new raquet or reverts back to his old one.

Well most of you know that im no Federer fan but I kinda figured he would not do too well . Think hes just adjusting to the new racket , altho i do wish he would retire My aunt, who until recently has always been a Fed fan and is 90 years old so has seen plenty of tennis as well as being a very good player herself, was just saying the other day that she wished he would retire for his girls sake as they may only remember him as losing these matches and being lower in the rankings. Obviously they will see the evidence of his glory days but it is not the same. I have always felt that one should retire while at the top of your game. In the horse showing world most people do this with their horses before they start losing.

I'm just not sure he has a complete grip on reality as regards his slip down the rankings. He seems to live in some kind of bubble IMHO.

I'm just not sure he has a complete grip on reality as regards his slip down the rankings. He seems to live in some kind of bubble IMHO.I think we should also bear in mind that his fans seem to have no grip on reality as they think he's going to get back to #1. If they and some of the comms and media keep talking him up then he's going to believe them.

Watch out! Fed will win the USO. I remember people writing Sampras off when he was around 30 and then he came back to win the USO and then he retired. I can see something similar happening to Fed. Altho' I hope not.

I don't Fed will win USO, in fact I don't expect him to reach quarters.

I don't Fed will win USO, in fact I don't expect him to reach quarters. To be honest, if he does reach the 1/4's I'd rather Andy face him than Potty, JWS or Berdich, I think his head must be all over the place at the moment, but we've got a couple of big 1000's coming up before then to see if he can change anything.

I think semis at best for Fed. But yes sampras and agassi both won the USO before they retired so who knows.

Whilst Fed has hardly had a stellar year thus far folk have written him off at their peril before, though it may be a bit different this time. of course Roger wants to play through to the next olympics and whilst he may reconsider if the decline continues sure he'll play for at least another season.

Feel bad for Debonis because he had championship point at the end of the second set. He must feel gutted.
