Very early but it seems Andy plans to return to Brisbane to kick off his Australian Open preparations ... and he'll be joined by Roger Federer!

Woo hoo - could be an early face off and opportunity to put Roger in his place at the start of the year then.........assuming Fed isn't knocked out in the first round. Course his ranking may have plummeted by then so he might meet Andy in the 1st or second round........ok I'll stop there........:getcoat:

Ooooo and just dashing back to add :cauldron: in case I jinx Andy!!!

The Brisbane TD must have won the lottery to afford both of them!

If Federer keeps going out early, he may not even be playing by then.

Hmmm, no comment!

Perhaps that's why of late he plays his first match of a tournament on the Thursday - that way, even if he loses, he can say he made it to the second half of the week! ;)

It will be interesting to see if Federer uses the off season to cream in the exhibition money or concentrates on preparation for the real season.

Well he will have plenty of cream with his new cow ;)

Brisbane Intl have so far only mentioned Andy as being confirmed to play there in January 2014.
However, I'm sure I'd heard that Andy was also going back to defend his title but can't find where ...
:hmm:

This is what it said in that Indian article posted the other day - http://www.deccanchronicle.com/130727/sports-tennis/article/andy-murray-start-2014-chennai-open

The big names in men’s tennis seem to be changing the pattern of their ATP season opener as Roger Federer has already confirmed he will compete in Brisbane for the first time in his career.

While the Swiss maestro has chosen the Queensland capital to prepare for the season’s first Grand Slam – the Australian Open — Murray is believed to be in talks with the organisers of the Chennai Open.

The article is all "may"s. Even though Andy is in talks, it could easily have been Chennai instigating those talks. I have not managed to find any other news source saying Andy may play Chennai.

There's no doubt Bhupathi will want Andy in Chennai 2014 ... it'd be brilliant promotion for the IPTL events that could kick off in Nov/Dec 2014. 'tis all talk at the moment methinks.

Better for his preparation and his health in Brisbane I would say ....

Yes we all know Andy takes a while to really arrive after a long journey. Do not see much logic in preparing for the AO out of Australia. Now Laura and Andy at the Hopman Cup would be one heck of a combination nowadays!

I'd love him to see him play in India. But that's just me. I just hope he can cope with the traffic chaos and doesn't get food poisoning.
