View Full Version : Bubble Gap 2013 - Montreal: Deadline Mon 5th August 5.00pm
That was one heck of a party wasn't it? We should do it more often, same time next year? ;)
Back to business now though. The hard court season is upon us with a little event called the US Open approaching fast. We head to Montreal for a warm up first though, I dare say our driving skills may have dulled a bit after all that partying!
As always rules and leaderboard are posted here (http://www.andymurrayfanforum.com/forums/showthread.php?1630-Bubble-Gap-Championship-2013&p=116180&viewfull=1#post116180) (now updated with results up to Wimbledon). The aim of this competition is to guess the bubble gap after Montreal. The current race rankings are as follows:
http://imageshack.us/a/img832/4498/f1a.png
The current bubble gap is 2960. That's Andy's score(5160) – Wawrinka's score(2200) = 2960.
The highest possible bubble gap is 3950. That's Andy winning Montreal with Wawrinka losing his 1st match.
The smallest bubble gap is 2715. This involves Andy losing his 1st match with Haas winning the title and Wawrinka the finalist.
So in summary, your guess is between 2715 and 3950. If you don't want to do any maths then just guess a random number and see how things turn out!
Remember that you can't guess the same number as someone else and once you've posted your guess you can't change it.
Ranking points on offer at Montreal are:
R1: 10
R2: 45
R3: 90
QF: 180
SF: 360
F: 600
W: 1000
Good luck to all who take part and may the best driver win! :trophy:
Deadline: Monday 5th August, 5.00pm

I'll go for 3870.
For an easy last-minute entry, I'll go for 2960
11 drivers manage to pull themselves away from the party back home to make it in time for the Montreal race. Everyone looks rather groggy so probably best that we take our time with qualifying.
jaysee takes advantage of everyone's sluggishness and easily takes pole, followed by Sallydaisy.
The rest of the drivers take quite a while before finishing with Manaus, Genbrit and Yorkie taking places 3rd-5th.
pabbers, former championship leader Linda and hfwardhouse are next with current leader Elenive and cazza99 finishing off the top 10.
Lights are about to turn green but I'm not expecting any movement anytime soon.:sleepy:

Damn a nae show up terrible way to end a run of point scoring in all BG's
Didn't have time to fill my fuel tank up, which was great for qualifying but if it's a long race I won't make it.;)
Wake up Manaus your missing the action.
I think Jaysee's car is already starting to slow down and is that my nemisis Sally now just about in the lead?

 My bad, thought nothing was going to happen so had a quick nap. But yes, jaysee not moving very fast at all whilst Sallydaisy is looking very enthusiastic and speeds ahead to take the lead. Hope she has enough fuel to keep it up, although with everyone else still a tad lethargic I don't think she has to worry just yet.

If it helps, in future if you know you won't be able to submit an entry for a particular race you can PM an entry to me a week earlier. I've had people do that before.
When I saw Sally's entry, I was shocked because she's normally over-optimistic about Andy's chances. But here she was betting on him going out early. I wondered whether she knew something that we don't know . . .
But she's right.

I plucked a number out of the air tbh so I wouldn't even try to read anything into it.
And I wish I'd been very wrong ...
I'm not sure I like your suggestion that I'm normally over-optimistic about Andy's chances. I support him wholeheartedly so am 100% behind him always - even tonight when he went down 3-5 in that 2nd set. I've seen him come back from too many of those situations to not believe he can win.

Wish Sally was short of fuel but it seems she is not and Jaysee seems to have picked the pace up and is trying to regain the lead - but as thats dependant on Gasquet reaching the final then I think Sally can safely drink her champagne already to celebrate a victory here and to drown her sorrows for last night.
I know back to back tournaments don't make this easy but can you set up the Cinci tournament thread tonight if possible as I go on holiday tomorrow and it would be good to get an entry in. Mind you given the gap is unlikely to have changed much after this tournament you could always take my 3380 and use that for Cincinnati as well if I don't have time to make an entry.

Yeah apologies for being late with the Cincy bubble gap. Always a bit tricky to set up the latter BG during back to back Masters, different time zones not making it much better either. I'm working on it just now.
Enjoy your holiday. :)
Despite a spirited chase by jaysee, he's unable to catch Sallydaisy who maintains the lead for the rest of the race. The others take a considerable amount of time before finishing. Hopefully they'll be more awake at the next race. ;)

Well done to Sallydaisy, jaysee and all the point scorers. No time for celebrating just yet as I believe the Cincinatti race is starting soon. :)
Well done podiumers! Especially Sally, although I suspect she'd rather it wasn't so.
